  • In this video I will show you how to add a propane (LP) low pressure quick connect port for your RV. This will work on any RV, camper, travel trailer or motorhome with on board propane. This allows you to have a very convenient quick connect port to run your grill at the camp site or in my case, my inverter generator that runs on propane gas. Below are the parts that I used in this video and the grill that I purchased to utilize this setup. The small parts that I required were all purchased at a local hardware store. Your needs will be different than mine, but feel free to ask me any questions in the comment section below and I will do my best to help you out. Thanks for watching!

OMG…. EXACTLY what I am planning to upgrade on my RV…. SAME exact motorhome, too… I even have the very same cargo carrier rack plugged into my trailer hitch at the back of my Winnebago Minnie. What a coincidence, usually the examples in these videos are at least a couple years off. Anyway, thank you VERY much for posting this video 😀

I’d highly recommend using two opposing wrenches when making metal pipe connections to minimize risk of breaking or loosening a connection.

Thanks, you let me know what I need to get to use my old Coleman gas stove that has been converted to propane. Keep the good stuff coming.

Nice job. For those thinking of doing this brass fittings are not necessary of course so you can save some money with regular steel pipe and fittings. I would also recommend a line valve before the quick disconnect. They can sometimes leak or even stick slightly open when disconnecting and continue to blow gas until the seat inside the disconnect is realigned. Thanks for sharing your video.

Can I make this setup to where the hose comes out of the regulator instead as my hose to the hard connector is very far under my coach.

You used the wrong thread sealer. Use the one for gas only.

Can you let us know what the sizes of the fittings all are like you said you would in the vid?

Hello. I’m assuming the brass tee is 1/2 inch. Then a 1/2 inch to 3/8 reducer. Then a 3/8 nipple?

I myself would put in a shut-off before your quick connect and after your T to the grill. I wouldn't want to hear a hissing noise from a quick connect mis seated valve...just sayin

in the 11:51, what connector is used to connect to the regulator coming with the generator? I would say some sort of male QCC1 connector. right?

I like the tee better. $28 on Amazon and very easy to install IF you can remember the threads are bass ackwards.
In addition to using your frame mounted tank to supply a grill or generator, you can pull propane from shore supply or from 20lb tanks. Then you don't have to take your whole rig to town if your frame mounted tank runs low.
Oh... if you need an adapter to connect to the tee, look for the mr. Buddy heater adapter. $10 Amazon. I can't find them anywhere else because they need the insert to go inside and release the gas.

I looked at that but it is before the regulator and would not work for my generator without another regulator in between. That may work for some people but I am duplicating what the RV manufacturers are offering on most newer RV's.

Yes... a regulator is $14 at Harbor Freight but it comes with 6 ft hose. I'm not sure about the fittings. I know that one end fits reverse threads for connecting a 20 lb tank.
It's very difficult to get a frame mounted propane tank refilled in Alabama. You have to call out or catch a propane truck... and they add on a $10 service fee. They forced hardware stores and gas stations to remove their refueling tanks because they could refill propane vehicles without collecting road tax.
I'm sure they are working on a plan to tax electric vehicles. Assholes!

Wow. That sucks. Here in Ohio almost all campgrounds sell propane and a lot of gas stations will fill them too.

I wish I could fill my frame mounted tank from big ones like I fill the 20lb ers ..but for some reason it leaks horribly through the bleeder valve.
I don't fill very often since I put a 15 minute mechanical timer on my hot water switch.
