    Dude your trip and route brings back memories for me, I’m a few years from retirement and go into Arizona whenever time permits, I’ve taken your exact route from Bountiful Utah through Albuquerque, across the Texas Panhandle and into Arizona, the first time I crossed the Navajo Nation was during the plandemic and was low on gas and the stations were closed at 7:00pm so I had to camp in my van in the middle of the reservation, was an amazing drive and night spent, people don’t realize the openness of this country and the beauty if holds and captures your spirit. Nice camper, that’s all a man needs .

      Chris, I can honestly tell you they make an amazing camper, especially for the price. Having said that, everybody has different likes and dislikes. So I wouldn’t want to try to steer you in any way. But I can vouch for the quality, upfront customer care, and value. They make over the cab models that are taller inside. I wanted a small, light, compact unit so that I can go off road in some of the rougher terrain around where I live. So weight was a major consideration for me. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Yes it’s a compromise between weight and size and the additional comforts that can be endless. Fortunately I’m not too tall. 5’10”. The interior height is 5’. So I do have to stoop when in the camper. But in my case, I mainly use the camper to sit in or sleep. I even prefer to cook outdoors. But when I do stand inside, yep. I have to hunch down a bit. For a taller person, that would probably start to be more problematic. Thanks a ton for watching and leaving a comment. Good point you raise! Cheers!

      @Dave-sw2dm 4 месяца назад

      I went and checked one out. It is like being in a van where you move from sitting position to sitting position or laying position. Most tents I have used are not all enough for standing. I think it would get crowded for two unless I find a 4'11" petite bride. The use case is to only be inside when needed. Being in the outdoors without too much camper height is important to me.

    Beautiful camper! Questions..... What are your thoughts about that wall mounted a/c? If i order a Capri I'd like one in mine but wondering if it stresses the supports while bumping down washboard roads? Is a stud-finder needed when nailing up items on the interior ? Does Capri have any guidelines about attaching items to the exterior? I rarely see exterior attachments on Capris.

    • @adventuresofshadowdog
      @adventuresofshadowdog  27 дней назад

      These are great questions and I asked many of the same before I bought mine.
      1. I was worried about the AC unit as I drive on extremely rough dirt/rock roads in the mountains. I was assured the AC unit was built in solid and that I needn't worry about that. My experience so far has been just that. The AC unit is rock solid in my camper. I would encourage you, however, to ask them the same question so that you can hear their answer too.
      2. I used a stud finder to find the studs when I mounted a secretary desk in my unit. Stud finder worked just fine. For smaller, lighter things, I use velcro or two sided mounting tape to avoid unnecessary holes. There are lots of options when it comes to mounting things inside. I've had no worries there.
      3. I mounted a shovel to the back of my unit using the CYEAH Shovel Mount Clamps that I purchased on Amazon. I used 3m double sided super strong auto mounting tape to attach the mounts to the aluminum diamond/quilted pattern siding. This is just my opinion, but I think the 3m tape holds strong enough. I've had no problem with mine anyway. But you can choose to find a stud and screw into it. I just didn't want to put holes in the aluminum siding if I could avoid it. I think the reason you don't see things often mounted on Capri Campers is that the diamond/quilt siding is one of its selling points. It's beautiful and people hate to cover it up. Anyway, you certainly can mount things to the outside. To be double safe, you might want to screw through the siding and into a stud.
      I highly encourage you to call Capri and talk with the guys there. They are super helpful, friendly, and will answer all your questions. The guy that helped me was Pete. If you talk to him, please tell him "hi" for me.
      I hope this response is helpful. I truly love my Capri Camper. I have no affiliation with the company. Just love the product.

      @@adventuresofshadowdog Thank you so much for the info!! Very glad to hear the a/c install is solid bc that would be a life-saver option. I agreer, the quilt pattern has a western charm that aesthetically shames the rest of the camper designs (imo). Really nice. Love the vintage look. Interested in knowing final weight of your camper? Any modifications to your Ram 1500? How does it handle? Thanks for your help

    • @adventuresofshadowdog
      @adventuresofshadowdog  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Phantom! So final weight of the camper with everything (20lb propane tank, ac unit, 100amp battery, etc, etc.), comes in at about 940lbs. Throw in some food and clothes and stuff and I’d round it off at about 1,100. My max payload is around 1,900lbs. So that leaves about 800lbs for fat me, little shadow, and whatever else we pack in the truck. In my opinion, that’s cutting it close. So I added the Timbren suspension upgrade that so far has made a significant difference. The Timbren mod came highly recommended by a number of RV dealers and by Capri as well. They’re easy to install. Now, with the Timbren, I haven’t experienced any sway or other problems, BUT, the rear feels a little hard. So I just ordered upgraded Coil Springs to replace the stock springs. I can still keep the Timbren. Combined, I think I’ll have the best of both worlds - smoother ride and no sway. Give me a month or so to tinker and once I think I have it right, I’ll make a video about the suspension mods. One thing I want to make clear is that I’m not trying to exceed the payload rating. I just want the best ride as possible without breaking the bank. Thanks for watching and commenting!
      Google Timbren SES

      One more note. My Ram 1500 has the Hemi 5.7 liter V8 and it handles the load just fine. Sadly I understand they have discontinued the Hemi going forward and will just be using a 6 cylinder dual turbo.

    • @adventuresofshadowdog
      @adventuresofshadowdog  6 месяцев назад

      Hey Zane! So I’ve never done knapping before. I have a friend that does it and he uses obsidian chips to make beautiful, sharp arrow heads and even knives. Is that the kind of material you are looking for? If so, the Modena Canyon area has a lot of Obsidian. If you’re looking specifically for Jasper or chert, I know lots of areas that have that but I’m not sure if it’s the lithium type that is ideal for knapping. One area that comes to mind for highly fractured agates and jaspers is the slope of Brian Head Peak just beyond Cedar Falls. There are many others too. What general part of Utah do you live in?

      If your goal is to sit in a campground and watch TV, a travel trailer is a cheaper option with much more room. Everyone has to decide what works for them. There is no one perfect camper. I've passed by yards that have several. The beauty of a lighter smaller slide in camper is the ability to still tow a trailer with boat, motorcycles, or cargo for the craft fairs.

    • @adventuresofshadowdog
      @adventuresofshadowdog  6 месяцев назад +3

      Hi there! So the camper comes with a 100amp AGM battery that powers the lights and DC outlets. The AC outlets and airconditioner only have power when the camper is plugged into “shore power”, like in a campground. BUT, I have an Ecoflow River Pro that has 1,400 watts and is capable of handling the spike in power draw when from the airconditioner and I can run the airconditioner for about 3 - 4 hours on it. I plan on taking that with me on summer trips. I’m trying to avoid using a generator, but I could take along a small generator if needed. I don’t own one right now though. I hope this helps!

      Hey Frank! So the camper is made for a 6’5” bed length. My Ram 1500 has a 6’4” bed length, so it does stick out a bit. I could have purchased the shorter version that is made for a 5’5” bed, but then it would be shorter than the truck bed and much smaller. So I opted for the longer as the sleeping bed inside is a full 82” long. The compromise is exactly what you pointed out - it sticks out the back a ways. I do appreciate your comment and no offense taken. Thanks for watching!

      About all I can say is that I make these videos and publish them. I’m personally not smart enough to manipulate the algorithms or even understand how they truly work. I’m just a guy who makes videos on my hobbies and hope people enjoy them. I’m very sorry you were offended by the ad. I truly am. I see them on other RUclips videos I watch too. One thing I am 100% positive about is that we “creators” have no control over what ads are run. I appreciate your comment and respect your viewpoint.
