Nice cab-over. Enjoy. From someone who lived in an RV for over 25 years. That’s well compact. Have fun and enjoy everyday you use it. Thanks. By the way I would still live in mine if wasn’t the care giver to my mom.
Love the cedar and cabin feel of the interior, just worried about the longevity of the build and others like it. I've been shopping around for a camper for my surf trips and Cortez has a new full fiberglass slide-in coming out, as well as the 601 making a come back from Northern lite.
Looking for a camper too, Love Northern light ! Lance has some really nice short bed campers as well. Trouble is , you need to own the bank to pick one up ! Geeze , they must have gold lining in the walls or something ! LOL . I looked at Capri but I've seen several used ones and they all have leaks . You would just have to stay proactive to that end and keep things sealed , me thinks . Nice campers other wise though. Never seen a Cortez , I'll have to look 'em up !
Camper looks awesome, congrats! Question... there are different kinds of cedar. What cedar is in yours? Did you say its a paneling, not separate planks? I want to put this in my camper. Cedar smells so good! Thank you!
There are three options from Capri. Two are a paneling. The third is cedar planks which is what we chose. According to Pete at Capri, they use the same cedar planks that are often used to line a closet with. I think it's a 1/4-inch tongue/groove.
@oklahomesteader thanks, but closet cedar tells me nothing. But I'm thinking it's a red western cedar. Your camper looks like it smells great! Happy camping!
Wonderful camper and thanks for posting! I am contemplating purchasing one similar from Capri. If you get around to it, I would love to see a video on your thoughts about how the shower and water drains on the Capri's work. Seems different without a gray tank but I don't think its a bad thing. Cheers from Montana!
My best recommendation is to go to capricamper.com and look at their website. There is a button that says “start your build” on each model’s description. You will see what is standard and also prices for each add on. As you check items you’ll see your estimated price rise as it adds it to the total. Very easy to use. The company was a pleasure to work with. Hard to find companies like this these days.
I have a 2023 Four Wheel Camper hawk up for sale after having it for 6 months. I'm looking to get a Capri camper and wanted to know the bed size on your truck. I have a new checy 2500 with the 6.5 ft bed so wanted to know how the Capri would fit. Thanks.
Mine is a 6 1/2’ bed as well. The Capri Retreat Short Bed comes to the very start of the tailgate with the tailgate down. I’m not able to put my tailgate up with the camper loaded. We just leave it down which actually works out great because it gives a small “porch” and provides an easy way to get into the camper etc. especially with a tailgate that has a pull out/fold down step which most do now. It also is a small area to strap down a cooler or storage bin etc. when in transport. Hope that all makes sense!?
Sorry for the late reply. I didn't feel safe in it at all after getting hit by bad storms a few times. One night, I couldn't get the pop top down due to the winds. Also, you can forget about trying to get a good nights sleep because you hear every noise outside. The condensation was really bad, too.
Nice video! I live in Houston and have been looking at the Northstar 850SC for a couple of years now from Princess RV in RoundRock Tx, but, lately after seeing your camper on RUclips has brought my curiosity level way up! While I prefer the very low profile of a soft sided popup camper as the 850SC I can’t quit looking at the hard sided Capri Retreat. Are you able to raise and close your truck tail gate?…or, is it required to be in the down position permanently with the camper in the bed? Is your bed the 6.5 footer? You mentioned y’all ordered the solar package [and forgive me if I missed it after watching your video twice], but, does Capri provide a metal framed 400 watt panel for the roof? I ‘do’ like that I’ll be able to obtain the two lithium battery upgrade ya’ll chose too. How about getting a larger fridge than the ‘larger upgraded’ one y’all chose? I’m not super impressed with the bathroom setup, as, the 850SC is larger & positioned straight head of you as you stand in the isle than yours and the commode is an all in one piece in the back with more room for standing to shower [with the cassette tank removal outside rear of the camper] in front [versus having to buy an external commode like in yours], but, the Capri bathroom is definitely not a deal breaker though. How about the storage doors?…do they stay closed no matter what?…no locks on them that I saw in the video. Thanks for sharing this video with us and I hope to hear back from you, as, most dealerships don’t like to answer questions such as these I’ve mentioned unless you’re ‘on their lot’ I’ve discovered. Stay safe and happy camping! ~Jim~ ruclips.net/user/TOTALLYRELAXED ?sub_confirmation=1
I have the 6.5' bed and the camper overlaps the tailgate an inch at the most. Most people take their tailgates off, but we do not. All the storage doors stay closed with no problem, we have never had one come open in transport. I highly recommend you look at Capri's website or even better, call them. You will literally talk to the owner. This is not a cookie cutter camper, so they have the ability to tweak the build for things if it's possible. The larger fridge is very much worth it! If you have a long bed, look at their Retreat Longbed model. It may have a better bathroom set up for you. Also, the newest models from Capri have some upgrade/improvements such as a pullout section of the bed that turns it into a North South sleeper. I believe it has a bathroom area upgrade too. Like I said, I highly recommend calling them.
I had a 2023 pop camper from Four Wheel camper. I sold it on 6 months due to the house and not feeling safe in it. A few times, I got caught in heavy winds it took forever to close it. You hear every outside noise, too. I would at least rent one first before you spend the money.
It looks like you have a Ford Super duty. Is your bed length only 6.5 inches? I have a 2022 F250 with a 6'10in bed. I would like to have the option to close the tailgate. My truck looks a lot like yours (size wise) so I am not sure.
@oklahomesteader I have a 22 Retreat and don't think it was that high? In 23 don't think they had enough options to even get to that amount. Now they have lots of upgrades
Is that model the 5.5 ft short bed or the 6.5'short bed?I have a superduty with the 6.75 ft bed. I would like to be able to close the tail gate. How is the camper holding up? Are you still happy with it? Thanks.
@oklahomesteader Thank you for the response. Pete at Capri said the tail gate wouldn't quite close. But it could stay on, and they could install a backup camera. Capri seems like a good company with good customer service.

Not much to it. Just two different hoses that you can capture water with 5 gallon bucket
Nice camper, thanks for sharing. In the build out process do they offer a no wood frame option using aluminium instead?
Not that I’m aware of.
Very nice !! Im curious how the shower drains and the camper is still removable ?
It drains straight onto the ground. The drain hose tucks in between the bed body and the tailgate. Same with the sink drain.
You should put another snap to snap him up to the ceiling. It be perfect or on the wall snap it back to itself either way.
We just roll it up and use a clip to hold it up. Works good
I wonder how the window coverings would work with magnets instead of snaps. Snaps can fail with use over time.
@@MrTommy001 Not real sure......These snaps are easy to replace if needed though.
