This is the most stunning train setup I've ever seen. Literally every square inch has been gone over with meticulous care. It makes it very easy to transport yourself to 1935. It would be so awesome if the day comes where robots could be miniaturized, or holographics developed to bring these "people" here to life. I would run a tape of city sounds. Cars honking, kids yelling, an occasional police siren, birds, jack hammers, cars engines, boat foghorn, etc. Hide little speakers all over the place, and put certain sounds with separate players to create a surround sound-separate channel effect. All these WAV and MP3 sounds can be found free online. This could be done pretty cheap, and would add so much more realism to an already very real cityscape.
Thanks for posting these vids! I was there that day and it was great to see George’s work firsthand. It was an absolute pleasure and he was a gracious host.
very impressive on so many levels , i gotta say couldn't help thinking when i saw the people walking around in the background . they should have someone walking around in a Godzilla costume , sorry my mind wondered for a moment ,nicely done .
I first saw this "Rail Road" in Model Railroader and Model Rail Road Craftsman issues in the 1970"s. What always amazes me was the extreme detail in making everything look sort of run down and worn out, The attention to detail, even having hidden from sight details, makes this look oh so real. Many of our older Northern cities have this seedy look too. What is cool is many structures on this layout are the "prototypes for "Scale Structures Limited" kits from those 1970's. I wonder just how many structures a total scratch builds, are kit bash models, or are exact model kits, made by others? Superb set of videos. ;-)
This is my all time favorite layout. I really appreciate you taking your time filming this. I've seen parts on the layout I didn't see in other videos. Thank you
As compared to the O scale 2 rail Appalachian & Ohio, this is by far the most detailed and thought out layout in model railroading history. Not many at all can compare to the detail this man has put into it. Would love to know a back story on how many hours, how much spent on the layout and help from fellow modelers etc.! Video is well done!
Amazing layout and modelling but I ask when all is finished does boredom set and wanting to start more modelling just a thought unless there’s another one on the go ?
