- Continuing their tradition of hunting together was their only goal...possibly killing one of the biggest typical 10 point Whitetail Bucks in Kentucky was their result.
This film covers the story of how Daniel Klingenfus and Field Hudnall have been hunting together since high school. Daniel was born into a multi generation family of farmers where like most of us, work is priority over hunting. Field has made Waterfowl hunting and call building a career. Waterfowl and turkey has been the majority of their hunting pursuits so when they decided to start scouting and pursuing mature Whitetail deer together, they were not 100% sure if they were going at it the right way. They have deer hunted their entire lives as individuals but they never tried to scout a mature buck and video their hunt together. Little did they know they were about to find themselves face to face with possibly one of Kentucky's largest typical 10 pointers not only harvested by bow but to ever be videoed. This is their Homegrown Experience Story.

I was tore up just watching this. I caught myself reaching for my drink and freezing every time he looked up. I was holding my breath and gritting my teeth every squeak of that rest. When you shot, I finally took a breath. Such an incredible story here. Two great friends, one amazing buck and an incredible video shared with us. Thank you. Guys, I’ve hunted for over 30 years and watched hundreds of deer hunting videos ever since TNN Outdoors use to come on television. This was the truest, real life buck hunt I’ve ever watched. That’s absolutely as good as it gets! Congrats to both of you on the entire production. What a stud!

This gives you a genuine emotion for what we love to do, and being able to do it with a buddy. This deer is literally perfect. It’s something you’d see on a 1990’s hunting magazine cover. In the natural world. You could not find a more perfect typical white tail. He’s a model representation of the animal species. Amazing deer. Great hunt.

That was awesome … here’s a great tip for u guys in the future Tell Daniel to never put doe scent on his person only a neutral cover scent ( a deer’s nose is one his best defenses ) lucky 🍀 for u guys that day the good lord , wind and foliage was all in your favor ) putting that sent on his person even though the wind was in your favor caused him to raise his nose which in turn raised his head and eyes in your direction smelling the doe scent molecules dropping from high up , the great cover and lack of movement at that time saved u guys BIG TIME if it was later in the winter with none to hardly any leaves 🍁 his sight would have helped him more he may have noticed the blob silhouette or picked the two of you out and bounced out … again super nice 👍🏽 hunt and harvest ❤🏹🦌 💪🏽… ;-) tell Daniel he better get some felt on that arrow rest , some non scented arrow lube 😅
It always seems to happen when you are unprepared , lol. My best buck , a heavy horned 150 class public land buck came when I had an hour to hunt that morning and just took my bow , some scent , and my stand . Hunted in a quick spot that was easy access , because I had " smelled " a rutting buck 2 times walking by it in the previous few trips in that area.

Im a filmmaker that was hoping to do a documentary about a KY hunter but realized I may as well become a hunter myself after my Dad passed away suddenly this year. Haven't started yet but will be working with a bow until Im ready next season. Pretty daunting in my thirties. Great film and story was well told and voice over was spot on. Really impressed!

Great buck, but more importantly, a great story about a bond that transcends antler size. The fact that you guys have never officially scored this buck says a lot about you both as human beings! I hope you never score it because an animal of this magnitude has earned that mystique to live on forever in anonymity. It couldn't have happened to two better friends. Congratz and thanks for sharing and showing others what hunting should really be about. Scoring would put the spotlight on one person and one person only and this was a two-person story! Class act by two classy guys!

That buck is something special . You seldom see a buck of that caliber that is so clean . He is a true mirror image ,side to side .
I know you arent sharing score and thats not the point ,but that deer needs the recognition . His score doesnt distract from the point of the vid . He is just a rarity to be that big and be that symetrical .

100%. That was the entry to a ground blind set we had a year ago. Trimmed the leaves to help out entry and exit be quieter.
