Join Royal Academy of Dance teacher and Silver Swans expert practitioner Sarah Platt as she brings her motivational ballet classes directly to you at home. This is the third in a series of classes aimed at the over 55s, giving you the knowledge to unleash your inner dancer, with new sequences to learn and remember each week. Following the regular warm-up, this time we learn ronds de jambe and port de bras.
Proven to ensure a complete mind and body workout by improving mobility, posture, co-ordination and energy levels, these exercises will help to keep you mentally and physically active - even if the kitchen counter or the bathroom sink is serving as a makeshift barre.

Thank you thank you thank you! I gathered much courage to enrol into a adult ballet class. It's bee 4 classes but I still feel quite lost. Not following well and look like a robot with 2 leftfeet. Your videos really help me understand the basic techniques, and at least I get to see the French words to make sense out of my teacher's lips. Love how u explain the arm positions and swapping the foot on 2and 3! I'm a slow learner, in class it was overwhelming to make my legs and arms to follow, but not I can repeat the videos as much as I need. hope the daily practice can help open my hips and make me look less like a robot. Really thankful these videos are available to help people like me who never get to learn to dance in childhood

I really learn valuable verbal cues from this teacher. Last class there was a verbal instruction to pull the stomach DOWN (as opposed to in) to lengthen to back which I found just revolutionary. This class she describes cambre as an opening of the shoulder blades which really brings the appropriate focus away from the arch. It's so valuable during Covid to hear other companies through their own culture and syllabus give cues. It really enriches body intelligence. It also is generous to be given a silver swan allowance these days. To actually feel that silver swan status is earned and not to have to push toward an extreme athleticism any longer, but to still do this stage of life intelligently- Thank you very much for class!

This is so fun! I've been wanting to do some exercises during lockdown and these are just the right length and the right amount of difficulty! I have never done ballet before, but it's always been something that intrigued me, so I'm super happy to try it out through these videos!

Thank you so much for these classes. They are wonderful. I haven’t done any ballet for over 40 years. Some of it is coming back! Such an uplifting thing to do in lockdown.

    As a
Former ABT trained ballerina in her 50’s I must say that these Silver Swan classes are spot on technically and artistically.
I feel wonderful after these barre exercises
Thank you so very much for this during our lockdown....
Wish ABT had a similar program for us Senior Ballerinas.....

Excellent classes! I have never had the opportunity to do ballet in my youth & eventually tried it at 55 with osteoarthritis in one knee! I struggle with some of the poses, however, strangely enough my knee & ankles feel stronger. Brilliant idea for lockdown & given me something challenging to do - thank you Sarah for the clear & fun lessons!

These classes are so much fun. I never practiced ballet nor know much about it. I have practiced sports all my life and find the movements being taught extremely beneficial for posture and strength. In the world I was brought up ballet was considered a femenine practice. I only now realize how wrong that way of thinking was and unfortunately continues to be.

Thank you very much for the class. I am a ballet teacher leaving in the end of the world..Chile. I attend the Inspire seminars in London for ballet teachers but I wish it was more easy to have the Silver Swan certificate. Is very difficult and expensive for people leaving so far to travel to USA, Canada, UK ...I wish you will create a similar opportunity online.Thank you.
