- Here are all the scenes featuring: Outback, Pipes and to a lesser extent Swerve & Tailgate. Hubcap never appeared and Wheelie would need a whole nother video.

But Why though? He had No trouble stepping up in the Movie. No they new from the start of season three they were bringing Optimus Back and you can't have two leaders so they chose to diminish Rodimus' role and make him unlikable so kids wouldn't get too attached to him. If you hated Rodimus as a kid that's why.

Outback replaced Brawn.
Swerve replaced Gears.
Pipes replaced Huffer.
Tailgate replaced Windcharger.
And Wheelie replaced Bumblebee (not mold-wise, but his place in the series.)
Clampdown replaced Redalert

Pipes being the leader of the Minibots makes me happy for some reason
My boy's got charisma
His voice reminds me of Optimus Prime. Not that it was the same actor but that Pipes had a kind of reassuring older authority figure tone to him, same sort of dad-that-is-also-a-truck energy.

I wonder why IDW had such hate booner for poor Outback? Seriously, they tried to kill him off twice and the few flashbacks we got with him showed he was a corrupt cop.
Plus even his name is very Australian, Outback. Like the Australia Outback. Outback feels like a Transformers version of Steve Erwin.

Season 3 Minibots may not have had much screen time but they had cool designs.
They were sadly under-used, with Swerve and Tailgate having no dialogue at all. But, yes, those designs were an improvement on their 1984 mould-mates.

I personally think, they should have let Trypticon actually kill a few of them, if they knew nothing to do with them anyway.
Not that I wanted them to die. But except for Outback, not a single one of them had done something significant for the rest of the series anyway and it would have made Trypticon look like an even greater threat.
@@jps6071 Pipes was somewhat useful in Season 3, but I agree that would have made Trypticon more scary and maybe maintained some of the movie vibe.
However, if their toys were on shelves in 1986 I'd rather see them survive, and instead clearly show some Season 1 characters die, rather than just have them mysteriously never seen again.
@@originaluddite One of the things I liked about Five Faces of Darkness was that it at least showed a certain level of mass destruction that could be expected in a war.
But it still lacked actual on-screen deaths of Transformers in comparison to the movie.
Only the one Sweep taken out by Wheely through a lucky shot was actually shown.
@@jps6071 that was cool. I also liked the epic back story of the Quintesson hand in Transformers history. Most unusual for a cartoon. Only wish they had given more of the work to a better animation company for those five eps.

Seeing Swerve and Tailgate always makes me smile. MTMTE made me really like them.
Same. I like to imagine they're more or less the same characters in the cartoon as they are in the IDW comics. There's hardly any fiction involving them in G1, so I see no reason why they can't be similar

The People's Republic of Utah well actually they describe G1 tailgate as having no self identity, talking to machines as they where living and repeating what other say plus sometimes transforming for no reason.
Well it sure wasn't their showing here that made you like them, poor guys didn't even get lines.
Pipes, Outback, Swerve and Tailgate, all redecos of Huffer, Brawn, Gears and Windcharger.
Wheelie was the only original mold.
And don't forget of Hubcap, he is a redeco/Retool of Cliffjumper but in the yellow color...

More like retools. the molds were modified somewhat. Absent from the show was Hubcap. He was the Cliffjumper retool. But yeah, Wheelie was the only new mold.
The way the new characters were drawn is really low quality but the dialogues are top-notch hilarious!
AKOM really did a hatchet-job to this series throughout season 3 and 4.
Not really... that's exactly how their toys look like, so in a sense they're... really well drawn and accurate to life

I always loved Pipes, wish he got more attention. He was a supporting character in MTMTE, then got stepped on by Overlord.
rip brawn, windchanger and huffer, but i am glad we get to see more of Pipes in the show

Swerve is by far the most background a background character can get. I barely even noticed the guy till i went on youtube and searched it up

Carbombia could have been another name for Libya. Perhaps the military figure was based in part on the Libyan leader, Colonel Gadaffi.
I imagine that with the Autobot, Outback, the producers said,
"Let's make him an Australian."
Alas, why does Outback sound more like an English cockney, instead of an Australian?

The 85/86 minibots got soooo ripped off in season three.
Nice to see Beachcomber survived the Movie. According to some sources, he was supposedly one of the Bots we see get dunked in the acid tank inside Unicron.
In the Movie there is an Autobot in the Movie that looks a lot like him and does get dunked in the Acid Tank if I'm not mistaken but its not him

outback got heaps of screentime! I had Pipes and Swerve, a couple of my first ever toys. Wish they had more screentime. But then they might not of gotten featured in modern comics years later.

The minibots don’t really have a leader, it’s mostly just whoever sounds the most like a leader at the time, as for the debate regarding Rodimus’s alt-mode, he’s a camper as Rodimus, and a sports car as Hot-rod
They're not a 'team' in-fiction in the same way that Dinobots are, just a category of toy, that was never made explicit in the cartoon, except by drawing them markedly smaller, and sometimes having them hang together.

Not enough screen time for the minibots after the Unicron war. Pipes only appeared in 2 episode with a few lines. Outback a bit more.. Swerve not much. Trottlebots also not much screentime
