Prime Target | Transformers: Generation 1 | Season 2 | E34 | Hasbro Pulse
Across the globe, one British hunter has amassed an impressive collection of dead animals. The desire for a challenge, though, has prompted him to set sights on the most challenging prey of all, Optimus Prime. However, this hunter is no fool and intends to confront his quarry on his own terms. A number of captured Autobots certainly provides the bait to lure Optimus in. Can the Autobot leader survive what awaits him in the hunter's castle and save the day?

“Amazing. A booby trap that actually catches boobies.” Probably one of the most ICONIC lines ever spoken by Peter Cullen himself.
I think every Peter's line is great at some point

He is not normal hunter. You can see he has advanced technologies rival transformers, which means he is also mad scientist.

It's actually a soap opera, buy yeah. That is top class funny to think of the Autobots following the daily drama of "The Kitchen Sinks." I bet they set up Teletraan 1 to archive it if they are busy fighting Decepticons when it's on.

Prime was pissed.... He saw the dark side of the humans he keeps protecting with this type of BS.
Yes, I like to see in this episode the Transformers.
@@Christophiel That was basically the start of his nasty temper which created Movie Optimus's temper.
It’s something I’m glad they brought back for current cartoons like Cyberverse. Making him more of a dad character instead of just a stoic and wise hero. Gives him a lot more character, and kinda gives him a more wholesome side.

Optimus Prime: "Amazing! A booby trap that actually catches boobies...!" That was some double entendre quote right here!

I bet Peter Cullen bursting with laughter when he said it
I like how Bumblebee was sarcastically praising Tracks. G1 Prime has it all: emotions, leadership and father-figure
Agreed. Look at the War for Cybertron series. OP was a great leader, made great decisions, but lacked that father figure presence.
And in Energon, he seemed to be exactly like Megatron except for his intentions, goals, and dreams. (We know Megatron treats even his most loyal friends and allies as garbage, and TBH, Energon Optimus did that more than most of the reincarnations).
15:44 Ha ha, I always loved how the hunter in his English accent says from his control room "That BLARSTED fool." Then it cuts to Astrotrain saying the same line in the same accent without rhyme or reason. LOL

This is probably one of my favorite G1 episodes simply because of how bonkers it is.
Yes! It's so absurd that it is great!
Yeah it's honestly hard to get mad about ow HARD they nerfed the Transformers when the entire episode is weird AF, especially that Blaster scene
One of my favourite G1 episodes. Just classic.
As an adult I did not see references to the short story THe Most Dangerous Game where a hunter would hunt sny human who shipwrecked on his Island.
To think that guy had the guts to hunt a robot 5 times his size.
This is one of the best episodes. Optimus Prime shows he does have a temper.
Even the kindest creatures have their limits. Just because it is hard to pass them never means that they can't be passed.
(Similar to family. They are always caring and there for you (if they aren't abusive drunks or jerks), but if you misuse their hospitality, even if they love you a lot, they still have every right to remove you from their life).
Optimus obviously knows that violence is not a positive solution and only uses it if it can be justifiable (in G1 at least), but he has very limited patience, and can be just as aggressive as Megatron if somebody crosses his line to far.
I mean, he showed that in ss1 too, when he snapped because he thought Megatron and the Decepticon escaped to Cybertron
3:51 I felt their pain. News interruptions are the worst
I love the idea that the autobots spend their free time watching soup operas.
Especially if it's in the middle of your favorite shows.
They’re clearly upset at missing the stories.

I love Blitzwing and Astrotrain. They are like a Beavis and Butthead😂
11:40 My god, I never noticed before. Optimus Prime is actually flying in truck mode as you can see a rocket on his trailer. Mind blown.
Just noticed. However, this is not realistically possible, since the boosters are pointed horizontally on the trailer. I guess he just wanted to arrive asap (a good leader cares about those he commands, right?), and lazy animation did the rest of the illusion.
This is probably because this upload is from the rhino dvds with used unfinished pre production masters.
Probably the error was fixed for the broadcast/shout factory dvd
I do love the random inclusion of Diana from the Oktober Guard [USSR's GI Joe] as the pilot for the fighter

And doubtlessly, the Transformers writing teams won't ever look at these old episodes for reference.
Damn, Blitzwing was fully willing to crush what he thought a defenseless woman in cold blood. Even if a trap, it's the intention.
After a time trip to a land of magic and dragons, I didn't think these stories could get any wackier. Yet this one is head and shoulders above any other I've watched to date.
Those arms reaching out from the billboard are a work of surrealist art. I mean, it doesn't look like some mechanism, these are genuine arms. Lord Chumlee has channelled the power of his imagination to grab Blaster and fold him like a Rubik's cube. It's like some concept of Salvador Dali, only in Transformers cartoon form.
It's a certain relief to hear Starscream finally say out loud what we've all been thinking. And Megatron can't handle the truth, heh heh heh.
And dang, for this warm and protective father figure, Optimus really has a ruthless streak. It may not be the 1940s and the height of the gulag system anymore, but handing Chumlee with the stolen aircraft to the Soviets is still either a death sentence or a lifetime in a Siberian penal colony.
A few minutes later....
Mr. Chumlee Welcome to the Gulag
More importantly we never got to see the end of “The Kitchen Sinks.”

11:03 Starscream's quick quip stings deeply.
Peter Cullen has gone on record that his brother the late Captain Larry Cullen was the primary inspiration for Optimus Prime’s voice, and I don’t doubt that, but I’ve always heard a little bit of John Wayne in there too.

Black magic I guess. Like he found a freaking dragon and used it to Optimus
Utterly crazy exaggeration!
So, a big game hunter holds some Autobots hostage in order to capture Optimus Prime and mount his head on a wall.
Dude, you already captured *6* Autobots. That’s all the prize Ya need, dude. Quit while you’re ahead.
You know the Big Game Hunters' credo "Gotta catch 'em all!"
Should've just nabbed Gears or Huffer. Maybe the Bots might've investigated, then written it off as an unfortunate Decepticon incident. And just like after Robin's minstrels were eaten, once again, everybody was happy.
[edit]posted too early. forgot he actually did try to nab Huffer. there was a missed opportunity.
Everybody knows full well that there’s a giant different between capturing a normal Autobot and capturing _Optimus Prime._ The latter has _significantly_ more weight to it.
