The Search for Alpha Trion | Transformers: Generation 1 | Season 2 | E32 | Hasbro Pulse
Realizing that the Decepticons have captured his long-lost love, Elita One, Optimus travels to Cybertron to rescue her. While traveling to Cybertron, Optimus is captured as well. Elita uses her special power to save him, but her special power drains her of all her life force. Optimus takes her to Alpha Trion, hoping that he could save her before it's too late.

@@user-tm3si7pw3u Optimus also was shown in the Unite Warriors comics for Takara Tomy's version of Combiner Wars to resist the power of Megaempress, a female Megatron clone that's a redeco of Pyra Magna, which allows her to control any male Transformer to do what she wants by thinking about his feelings for Elita.
So the Autobot lineup for this mission was "all the red ones."

This was one of my favourite episodes of season two. The female autobots were underused, underrated and under appreciated. They should have been in more episodes.
Same case as with Defcon in the previous episode, I guess original characters who weren't based on re-purposed japanese toys weren't allowed to be in more than one episode. The whole point of using japanese toys was to save money not having to make their own, so if they made new characters and kids liked them enough to want toys of them, they would've had to actually invest in making toys from scratch.

@@jmurray1110 Kind of a blessing in disguise, as the Ratchet (and Ironide) original toys were lame without the Diaclone human-mech component and looked nothing like the cartoon and (mostly) comic versions. Ratchet would have warmed the shelves for years.

Something to think about, with Prime being out of commission for 4 million years, Elita-1 has continuously lead a faction of Autobots against a Decepticon force for far longer making her technically the more experienced leader.
But then she would have used her special power. Then she'd be done for. When Orion Pax was rebuilt into Optimus Prime, he was tough enough to take more punishment as Aleta would have gotten killed more easily.
@@jakekaufman8302 Being tougher does not a good leader make, ask Grimlock, but the fact remains, she still lead what was left of Autobot forces on Cybertron for 4 million years while Prime and the Ark crew were off line against Shockwave. That's 4 million continuous years of gorilla warfare against force that practically lead them to extinction.

In other words Megatron can't even admit that Starscream would get the job done if it truly admitted it because he would be in denial over it for eternity. The possession episode of Beast Wars.

Considering how the movie and this episode were semi influenced given Arcee, I wouldn't be surprised.
It's pretty good writing when you can bring in female characters without making them prizes to be rescued or emasculating the male characters. I mean if you took away the personal relationship angles here this could have easily been any other team of autobots. So bravo to the writers for avoiding the troupes
Yeah but taking it out feels like you'd loose this human side to Optimus and his past, they should totally bring back their relationship. But maybe pairing all the male bots with the females could be too on the nose.
Yeah. You have to admit that without this episode, Cybertronians would kind of have come off as only being a race of warrior robots. Even the Autobots would have just come off as good warriors instead of regular bots that joined a side.

And to think Starscream was so close to destroying Optimus prime, putting Megatron to shame as he's always trying to overthrow him for leadership. But Aleta 1 used her special power to save Optimus and it almost killed her.

Shockwave lead Decepticons and Starscream started the Predacon faction.
Grimlock let the lightning strike coalition. And I think Jazz and Prowl led the Autobots

The scene where he reactivated her is reminiscent of the actual procedure for starting a vehicle with a dead battery, which I'd like to point out, was what was wrong with her. It's not sex, it's called a jump start. Now the part about his design being the only one to properly interface with hers makes sense, too, because they're both very old. Now if you've ever tried connecting a new travel trailer to an old pickup truck, or vise versa, you'd be familiar with this: wiring designs evolve over time and sometimes it's really hard to find the right adapter - especially when your civilization has been at war for millions of years.

That and Alpha Trion rebuilt them both, so of course they'd both have the same internal systems and be compatible with each other.
Blood transfusions are not sex so battery transfusions are no different.
I'm pretty sure there's just because Alpha Tryon gave them wonky ass designs when he rebuilt them that's why Optimus died too cuz remember other Transformers have survived worst but Optimus was shot in this weird connector thing they have they have weird ass power cells or something and since Alita was probably off kicking ass Prime died
In the IDW comics, First Aid performed a similar method he also called jumpstarting. It involved using a healthy spark to help revitalize a fading one.
What bothered me the most is that Elita never reappeared ever again in the series, even in Season 3 which took place mostly on Cybertron. She was absent even when Optimus died in the movie.
Alpha Trion did reappeared later in S2 and in S3 and at the finale of the series.
We see elita as ariel later on
Alita and Ariel ARE THE SAME PERSON - Ariel is to Alita-1 (A=A1) as Orion Packs is to (OP=OP) and
A3 = Alpha Trion Millions of years prior.
And sad to say - I think it was a toy selling gimmick. Wanted to see if it caught on or not. Since it didn't, they didn't go any farther. Same with killing off so many G1 and OP. We all know how Hasbro really doesn't give a shit about things like canon or other things. Look at them lately.

Unlike the other pairings in this episode, there's hardly any implication that Powerglide and Moonracer are a couple. He compliments her, but not in a romantic sort of way. She says she'd love to go to Earth with him after the war, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're dating. Maybe they're just good friends, in which case, she'd be fine with him seeing someone else. Of course, I could be wrong.
Moonracer would want to snipe the bimbo.

One thing about these classic cartoons is the background soundtracks which are very well done. The music on the ending scene when the autobots and female autobots say goodbye again fits the scene and mood perfectly. I can still hum so many of the background tunes in my head to this day 30 years later
This episode is an example (along with others) of why G1 has so many devoted fans. The stories were really engaging. No Netflix Series or Bay-verse movie even starts with this kind of storytelling.
Exactly, and some of the animation and artwork is amazing and still looks great all these years later.
I mean I guess. 75% of G1 is Megatron coming up with a silly plan to get energon cubes and the Autobots stopping them every time and introducing new toys. There's only about 6 or 7 episodes that expand on the lore like Key to Vector Sigma and War Dawn. But what those episodes introduced was retconned in later episodes due to continuity issues. Most of it was bad until the 86 movie came out. But seasons 3 and 4 was more of the same inconsistencies.
I dunno that War series kind of hits right with Elita and Optimus' tragic relationship in the war, we just need more where she's around till the end
Transformers fans are truly delusional...
The same could be said of Spiderman and His Amazing Friends compared to the MCU today.
You can hear the Rage in Ironhide’s voice after the Decepticons tell him that Optimus is Dead. They were like Brothers.
I remember seeing this for the first time and being blown away by how great it was...Alpha Trion was such an epic addition and this episode had such great animation/artwork that still stands up after all these years.
Yet it has one of the most shown animation errors. At about 10:04 Prime’s faceplate disappears for a few frames.

The artwork is fantastic just like it is in many other episodes, even the ones that have many "animation errors". Of course, there are many badly drawn episodes throughout the series (mostly courtesy of Akom) but this isn't one of them.

The underground resistance was so ineffective shockwave thought they were dead for millions of years lol.
To be fair to them there wasn’t much to do until Megatron started shipping energon back to cybertron.
The war has been going on for 9 million years without a winner somehow. And even afrer all those millions, Optimus in all his great wisdom somehow fell for Megatron cheating with multiple Decepticon powers. For a race literally built by science, they don't learn much do they?
I think Optimus falling for Megatron cheating is fair enough. Lol.
Megatron literally had a machine constructed to give him powers in a way that no one had ever done before, and on top of that, Megatron called for a very specific challenge with very specific rules. So the Autobots went into it under the false pretence that all of those rules would be followed.
Megatron is also very "might makes right", so it makes sense for Optimus to assume this is his chance to beat Megatron formally at his own game.
And from the POV of Optimus, why would any of that seem out of the ordinary? For one, Megatron already has a lot of powers (flight, and energy shield, his energon mace, an augmented anatomy). And a lot of Decepticons share the same powers (Soundwave Thundercracker and Dirge all use sonic weapons, Frenzy and Rumble both have piledrivers.
What was out of the ordinary about Megatron? His chest lit up?.. K. That's hardly special. He shocked him with a hand shake? K . Optimus shoots lasers out of his own hands in that very fight. Megatrons arms also didn't LOOK like piledrivers when he shattered the ground, so Prime likely assumed he just wasn't holding back.
Teleporting and soundwaves tho? From Prime's pov he has no reason to think that Megs stole technology from Skywarp and Thundercracker. Rather he started questioning himself. Had Megatron always been able to teleport? It would explain how Megatron got the jump on him so many times, or how he escaped death numerous times. And perhaps Megatron was also capable of using soundwaves, but left it up to his goons to do such grunt work for him.
I absolutely do not blame Optimus for not noticing the cheating xD
@@zeograndmaster6507 Yeah, you're brain is beyond help. Nobody with half a brain would fall for such an obvious cheat. In the 5 million years of battles the 2 have had, Optimus never once saw any of those abilities used. What more would a guy need?
Even if it was obvious their computer would pick it up, they would've at least return to see it rather then just say I didn't know he had all those powers.
And a method that's never been done before? Really? Space bridges hadn't been invented yet, but nobody was shocked there.

You even tried saying it doesn't seem out of the ordinary when he's making earth quakes and using far more powers then any known Autobot or Decepticon. Transformers has a lot of silliness to it, always has, always will. Notice I did not, anywhere, in my previous comment, try to defend the obscurity of how long the war was waged with no victor.
The only thing I pointed out was that narratively, from a writing stand point, Megatron cheating was not obvious and I can totally see why Optimus and the others didn't catch that.
It'd be like me getting into a boxing match with someone, not realising they stuffed a roll of quarters into their gloves. It's gonna hurt like hell when it hits, but I'm not likely to immediately assume there was a roll of quarters in the other guys gloves.
That's not something that crosses your mind in a fight, and especially not if it's your first time getting rocked by rigged gloves.
And I'm noticing you did not refute ANY of my points about Megatron's power usage.
Much like a guy stuffing a roll of quarters into his boxing gloves, Megatron's arm did not shift into Rumble's signature piledriver when he used the ability. Hell, in another episode we actually see that Megatron does have lights on his chest. Literally nothing Megatron did was an obvious hack, save for the teleporting.
And again, Optimus doesn't know how Megatron survives his crazy encounters. Unlike us, the audience, Optimus doesn't know how Megatron survived the Ark crash. Nor the Nemesis crash. Nor anything else they threw at each other over the millions of years of war.
Optimus and the Autobots definitely look foolish falling for such a trap, but that's because we the audience got to SEE the trap be set. I guarantee you, had you not seen Megatron's ploy, his antics in the fight may have seemed suspicious, but your kind would not jump to "Megatron is cheating".
Megatron pulls out new tricks from his arsenal like every other episode. Such as, again, his energy shield, his mace, his whirlwind, his antimatter ray, his pec lights.
If you're unable to acknowledge that you had access to information that the other characters did not have, and cannot understand what it's like actually being in a comparable situation, then that's a personal thing that has very little to do with me. I just like shining a light on logic and reason whereas you seem alright with blankets labelling something as stupid and all attempts at "defending" it as stupid... Which again, is a personal thing.
This is a great episode. The female Transformers are badass.
Moonracer is kind of a badass name TBH. I like it.
Arcee was badass as she appeared in the movie and season 3 afterwards.

Great as it is to see Elita for the first time, my main Transformers ship will always be IronhideXChromia.
Also neat we got the introduction of Alpha Trion here. One of the later mainstays of the franchise as a mentor and most especially one of The Thirteen Primes.
Ironhide X Chromia is certainly an underrated romance.
Its just not a ship,its canon.
It is sad to think what will Chromia react of Ironhide’s grinned fate in Transformers: The Movie.

These were the components chosen to make the perfect litte Autobot. But Alpha Trion accidentally added an extra element to the construction: Energon X.
Thus the Female Autobots were born. Using their ultra super power Elita, Chromia and Moonracer have dedicated their lives to fighting Decepticons and the forces of evil.
Great take on the PowerPuff Girls🤣🤣🤣. I think the female Autobots are definitely better.

This is the episode debut of Alpha Trion (A3), Father of the Autobots and keeper of the Matrix of Leadership. Also their first glimpse of female Transformers characters: Elita One, formely known as Ariel and girlfriend to Orion Pax later became known as Optimus Prime. Chromia, girlfriend to Ironhide, Firestar, girlfriend to Inferno and Moonracer, Girlfriend (well, ex!) to Powerglide.
Probably powerglide kinda refused to do this by accident because prime told them to PROTECT humans

Elita-1 was in animated, revenge of the fallen, the war for cybertron trilogy and earthspark. Chromia also got to be in ROTF and WFC trilogy as well as Cyberverse. Even Moonracer got to be in the trilogy, even if she was done dirty in it. Meanwhile Firestar, Lancer and Greenlight never made it past this episode. Maybe in the comics but not everybody reads those.

They sure didn't plan these stories. Chronologically, Optimus knows that Alpha Trion created him because it was the arielbots who brought Orion Pax to him to be repaired and rebuilt into Optimus Prime.
Apparently they didn't have any kind of writers room, but the writers of this episode and War Dawn were able to communicate the idea of Elita One being Optimus Prime's girlfriend.
He remembers because they changed history. We don't know how Optimus originally came to be.

They planned these stories it's just Hasbro didn't predict how popular these characters would be and when the internet came out it was over tf fans from all over started communicating
@@powermasterjazz The arielbots changed history a by a small amount. Alpha Trion was still the one who rebuilt them both as indicated in this episode. I heard that before the whole time travel Alpha Trion found both of them at that storage silo and personally took and rebuilt them. Then again as has been stated most episodes (including War Dawn) don't really impact the overall story.

4 years ago my older brother started watching transformers g1. We had never seen transformers before. I was just 12 and completely uninterested in what I thought was a " boys only robot show". But one day he turned on the tv and started watching this episode and instantly my full attention was on this! After that I realized that maybe it wasn't just a boys show and that girls could enjoy it too. Even though Elita, Chromia, Moonracer and firestar weren't on there again I still liked the show. I guess I didn't give it a chance and didn't get the story. Now I'm 16 and have seen most transformers series and have probably too many transformers toys! This episode is so special to me because its what made me like the universe of The Transformers.

This is 1,000 times better than the recent movies. No way Michael Bay was involved with the G1 cartoons, they were too good for that.

It's sad that this episode was the first and the last time we were introduced to Female Autobots until the introduction of Arcee in the movie and everyone has to remember Optimus and Elita were originally dock workers named Orion Pax and Ariel until they're encounter with Megatron and the Aerialbots brought Orion to a younger Alpha Trion who completely rebuilt Orion into Optimus Prime and using Optimus' schematics he did the same for Ariel rebuilding her into Elita One so in some ways even though she's his girlfriend Elita One could also be considered Optimus' sister and Alpha Trion could be considered they're father or creator.
Well... Ariel and Orion are considered lovebirds before the war.

I think Arcee actually came first. Conceptually, anyway.
Arcee came into being when one of the writers of The Movie had a daughter who also liked Transformers, so he started writing girl Transformers.
Also, toy companies were making girl versions of boy toys during this time. Remember She-Ra?

I have to say, I really like the girl Autobots. But this episode always had me wondering; how come we never see any female Decepticons in this show? Regardless, I consider this to be one of the best episodes of season 2.

There was one very brief cameo of an assumed female decepticon. I can't remember which episode, but a decepticon is on a ship, sort of bored and then brings up a picture of a pin up girl. It only lasts for like a second though.

This channel is basically the RUclips equivalent of Claster Television's distribution in the mid-1980s (in other time periods such as the 1990s they distributed some shows unrelated to Hasbro). Would be great to see the Claster brand again in a future Hasbro Studios production.

Sounded like Tress but believe it or not both Moonracer & Firestar were voiced by the Baroness herself Morgan Lofting and Chromia was voiced by the late great Linda Gary, the original voice of Teela

Elita-1 might've been a commander of such a unit.
And he went alone despite how the messages showcased Elita being held by some of Megatron's goons and could have used some help.
I mean, Optimus, I know you are usually the "rescue everybody"...but he usually is pragmatic enough to organize rescue teams to help him out.
