All of a greathelm can be divided by some form of cross, be it equilateral or Latinate cruciform. One really couldn’t /design/ a more specifically “Christian Europe” aesthetic than a giant cylinder with a cross on it.
Excellent video and great helm. I think the flat top great helms such as the Dargen Helm are some of my favorites of the medieval helm types. I would love to try to make one someday and may give it a shot eventually. I look forward to more videos from you.
So I've had a stupid idea that i really want to try but dont have the means. So i love the history of the crusades... and mountain biking. And i want to combine the two ideas. I want to make (or find someone that can) a great helm with like mips and the safety protection of a mtb helmet
Hold on. You are reproducting the helmet by using historical pictures and... tadaaam! Ready helmet you have purchased in Ukraine! Why not to drill rivets out, take your templates, bend metal to shape, rivet it together and quench. And polish it of course. Smells like smart ass to me! You own more money to world of armor, buddy!
