Power efficiency will also be much better. On top of that: if that’s your way of thinking, one should never buy a new phone lol.

Ah, I saw all the leaks and then saw the price of Pixel 8 plument down to 440€ and decided to go for it. It seems like no matter the original price at the end if you wait you can buy the normal Pixel for 400-500€.
I currently have the regular Pixel 6 and it's still a really great phone for me but I was split between wanting to upgrade to the Pixel 8 or the Pixel 9 and I decided to wait for the Pixel 9 because I didn't think I need to upgrade quite yet. After I saw the rumors for the smaller sized Pixel 9 Pro, I was really excited becasue I have smaller hands and I have also always wanted the pro features in a phone the size of the regular Pixel. The rounded camera bar is very jarring and might take a little getting used to. the Pixel 9's camera bar reminds me of the uniquely shaped cameras bumps of European/Asian Android phones like the Honor 200 or the Xiaomi 14 Ultra for example.
Regarding the Tensor G4, it is based on an Exynos counterpart yes, but Google is keeping the GPU from last year (from Tensor G3) instead of the new one from the Exynos chipset, which would be significantly better...
i am most excited about the modem. i have had issues with all pixel phones from 6 and later. hopefully issues with the cellular connectivity are resolved
You know I'm not that kind of person who's obsessed with the camera, because for me I need 512GB of storage and bigger memory ram , and now days they don't have SD card slot no more I love the new design, at least they could've make the camera more flatter, like how they did with Samsung Galaxy S23 or S24 design.

Skipping the Pixel 9 altogether seems like the best move for Pixel owners, aiming to get the Pixel 10 once it’s released. It’s similar to when everyone bypassed the Pixel 5 and jumped to the Pixel 6 with Tensor. Even though the Tensor 5 will be made by TSMC rather than Samsung, it will once again be kind of a first gen product, introducing some risk. If the Pixel 10 doesn't meet expectations, waiting for the Pixel 11 could be just as smart a move :D

I'm in a dilemma... Currently using a Pixel 6 Pro. I like the Pixel experience (software and camera), but my phone is showing clear signs of age and might not survive another year. I want to use my phone as long as possible, so long software support and good performance are key for me. And I'd like a smaller device with 3 cameras. - The Pixel 8 has a good value and long software support for the first time, but it's missing the camera and it's not really an upgrade over my current Pixel 6 Pro in terms of performance/features. - The Pixel 9 Pro ticks basically all the boxes but it's really expensive imho. A price that I'd only be willing to pay if performance and especially efficiency/battery life are greatly improved. - Waiting for the Pixel 10 Pro could require me to get a cheap transition phone if my current device breaks earlier. And it's another first gen product - I have been through this already. - All this combined makes me wonder if I might just be better off with giving e. g. Samsung a chance, maybe a refurbished Galaxy S23 or S24
Phones don't spontaneously break because of age. Things may slow down and take longer to do things, but there are remedies to that. A good clean up can do wonders for a phone. Try a custom rom. Isolate the bad apps draining the phone. A pixel 6 pro can definitely last another year and I would also personally wait for a Pixel 10 Pro as well.
@@PhoenixFire32 Well, in my case, the display sometimes stays black. Especially when it's warm and/or I had it in my pocket for a long time. Seems to be a mechanical issue with the internal connection, because when putting pressure in some areas, it starts working again. I guess someday it won't ever turn on again, and a repair wouldn't be worth it anymore then. But I still hope I can continue using it for as long as possible.
I bought a Galaxy S23 256gb for the price of the Pixel 7 128gb. So far no regrets. Maybe I will upgrade when the Pixel 11 launches and I can get the pixel 10 on a huge discount. LOL.

To mitigate the issue you could try to not use your phone while you charge it during the day, have shorter sessions of gaming intensive apps, keep your phone in a cooler area, etc. I'm in the same boat as you, I have a P6P and I'm thinking about changing it mainly because of the heating, buttery/charging speed. The P8P is currently at ~ 37% sale in Canada which is an amazing deal. Apparently the P9 lineup will do more AI on the phone which is very nice, have a better fingerprint reader and everything else from the P7 et P8 lineup. I'll try to keep it for at least another 6 months/ until the P9P goes on sale, if I last until a sale on the Pixel 10 the even better since the chip will be made by TSMC which should greatly improve performance & battery life.

I absolutely love my pixel 8 pro. Only issue is battery life. If I can get that figured out, I will likely wait for the pixel 10 to upgrade. I don't see a reason to upgrade aside from battery concerns for just one generation unless it's to grab the fold, which I'm considering for bigger screen options for reading so I don't have to purchase a tablet. But I may just end up getting the tablet for now. Very likely gonna jump on that Pixel watch 3 XL option though!! I love the Samsung watches, but there's just something about the simple, clean look of the pixel watch that has grown on me and I find myself wearing it more the last couple of weeks. I just HATE not having a larger size option. z

A new modem ks absolutely needed. For some reason, after two years, my connectivity has tanked and have to restart my phone at least once every other day just to have bars show up whem they weren't prior to restarting.

I love watching every one of your reviews and learn a lot from them. It's quite a bummer that Google is still making phones with 128GB. Here in India the wisest thing to do is to wait for a couple of months and buy (an imported Pixel of 256 or 512GB) for half the launch price. NEVER buy a brand-new Pixel paying a fortune for a measly 128GB.
Really disappointed to see the aspect ratio on the fold going too tall and super narrow. It's the reason I have a pixel fold now. I tried a Samsung fold and it's not enjoyable to use. 😭

Besides the ultrasonic finger print reader I think nothing is certain. Hopefully the Tensor G4 will be more efficient. I think most of the AI features will come to the older generations top.

Both on main camera, default app, auto setting, and my Note 8 won and not my a small margin. I don't think I'll ever go back to a Pixel after the QC issues they seem to have with every generation when compared to other OEM's. I love Google's camera experience, but they don't seem to care at all when it comes to quality control and reliability.
I've had every pixel since the og, I also buy direct from their online store and if ever I've had a problem they always resolve it. If you buy from a third party vendor then your mileage may vary.
Cant wait for pixel 12 where they would actually listen to the customers and not launch a buggy phone with overheating, poor battery, poor connectivity and half a decade old hardware for premium prices because they were working on gimmicky AI feature all year that makes your phone emojis change according to your skin tone

128 GB base models with heavily overpriced storage upgrades is a no-go and for me a reason to choose a different manufacturer.
