this is the same person who when given an emergency key to Penny's apartment, broke in the middle of the night while she was sleeping to clean. but taking milk is an imposition
He was cleaning not stealing, in his mind he was doing her a favour. While taking the Milk without asking them was stealing from her part. This is the whole crux of the show. Sheldon inability to understand social paradigm and boundaries we should have with each other. Think.of him as a robot if u will. He know being untidy is wrong but doesn't know that he does not have a right to clean somebody's apartment when they are sleeping. For him cleaning Penny's apartment was a good thing for her and also he has OCD tendencies. That was completely in line with his character.
It's Sheldon. He's a hypocrite. This is not news 😅

They share their food & drinks with her ad nauseum. She didn't ransack their kitchen, or even take the entire carton of milk (abusing their generosity). She took only the paltry amount she absolutely needed

Kind of like my last backpacking trip. Hike into the mountains about 8 miles. A 4 hour, 1 way trip. Just to realize I forgot a lighter, so I can't smoke some weed. Noooooo.

no, he isn't. First, it's a sitcom, that's the joke, and second - he demonstrated that the couch is too small for him, as he is very tall. and any other place to sleep at Penny's apartment is Penny's bed, genius. And he said it to her first, and she agreed.
@@RajaniIsa that is not shocking at all. Penny and Sheldon are best friends at this point and Sheldon's 'outrage' at Penny quickly became only performative, not real. Just rewatch the show, and you will see it. He let her do anything, things he would never let anyone else do, and they also always supported each other. that's the thing: Sheldon and Penny were a better couple than any other couple, romantic or platonic, on this show.

They both always supported each other and also found themselves in the same position (for ex- not wanting to live with their partner, ending up in the same team in treasure hunt)

Not gonna lie. but after that scene I also started to put my keys (and everything important to take with me when I leave the building) in a bowl when I moved into my (then) new apartment. Work's surprisingly well. I only forgot them twice in two years - and both times, I was able to climb back in through the open bathroom window.
