The more I see of Young Sheldon the more I realize why he and Penny have such a strong bond: Missy. She is very much like his sister. Whether that was intentional writing or they retconned Missy to fit that better is immaterial now. She acts like his sister so much that their relationship became like siblings.
that's an interesting observation. the character of young sheldon though, as presented in that show, would not have turned into the character of sheldon in big bang. easier to look at them as 2 different things
I love how Leonard takes the phone from Sheldon to jab an insult at how he's not being nice to Penny at 0:59-1:14 and then he takes the phone again to do the exact opposite and get onto Penny for not being nice to Sheldon at 2:37-3:07.
I don’t know why, but I love how Sheldon’s country accent came out when he got annoyed and said to Penny, “No one calls me Moon Pie but Mee Maw.” It was soooo funny. Then his expression afterward as he handed the phone to Leonard was really AMUSING! I cannot help but replay it while laughing hysterically.
"What up, Moon Pie?" That line cracks me up every single time. Jim Parsons almost loses it at the 3:45 mark after Penny crushes the box. When these actors clicked, they clicked, and what was remarkable was that they did it show after show. Even after their characters were rewritten or modified, they still acted them convincingly.
It's interesting that sheldon has a smart phone and penny has a flip phone. It kind of makes sense that sheldon would be up to date with the latest technology at the time, but you'd also think penny would as well just because of the social aspect. but also maybe she couldn't afford it :-P

3:33 I really enjoy Penny's solution here. In many other shows a character might just carelessly break an object only for it be revealed later that it's extremely valuable. Penny asking first kind of subverted that trope. More importantly it was great thinking on Penny's part. She properly understood the situation and what was at stake and made the most sensible and informed decision. Obviously that's a stark contrast to Sheldon and the other guys, but it's rare to see such pragmatism in sitcoms in general. It's something Dr House might do but with 100 times more caring.

After working in I.T support for 2 decades, i can safely say i’ve had conversations that have gone a lot like this… The defeated tone when he says “the one that looks like a ducks mouth”… i could feel that in my soul.

That moment where Penny smashes the box with her foot is one of my favourite Penny moments. After she hears Sheldon's overly complicated explanation she's like: yea, fuck that noise. I'm opening this sucker the best way I know how. *stomps on the box* That was a really clever joke, if you ask me.

It's incredible how accurate the show "Young Sheldon" is. Everything seems to line up perfectly with The Big Bang Theory, with only very small inconsistencies.
Except for one huge discrepancy. In Big Bang Theory, we get the impression that George was pretty worthless. In Young Sheldon, George is a wonderful and loving father. And, as we found out a couple of weeks ago, George really didn't cheat on Mary.
Penny's line "It might be the only chance I ever get to play Anne Frank" still makes me laugh considering Kaley Cuoco played Bridget Hennessy in 8 Simple Rules and in one episode played the lead character Anne Frank in a high school play.

Yes, it was considerate. She was just making squirm with the moon pie comment, but if Sheldon had an emotional attachment to the box she wouldn't have just smashed it. She knows she would have really broken him by doing that. I think she understands Sheldon's limits.

still makes me laugh considering Kaley Cuoco played Bridget Hennessy in 8 Simple Rules and in one episode played the lead character Anne Frank in a high school play.

Yes, it was considerate. She was just making squirm with the moon pie comment, but if Sheldon had an emotional attachment to the box she wouldn't have just smashed it. She knows she would have really broken him by doing that. I think she understands Sheldon's limits.
