I agree, they were a passion project. Now because they earn more than Movies do, it just gets pushed out with no love put into them. Why I tend to play more indie games now or go back to my 360!
Back when Video Game companies still cared about their consoles and gaming/third party companies and software. I would say after the 7th gen consoles the video game consoles took a nose dive since.
xbox 360 era specifically at the start it was so wild. cod 4. assassins creed. halo 3. gears of war. gta 4. portal. i could go on, and on. best era in gaming, ever
I still remember the commercials this company made, including the website I remember visiting back in September/October 2005. It was one of the very first websites that I've looked up along with Paramount's Fearfest, Six Flags Fright Fest, and the old Clearview Cinemas 12 website before that got taken down in 2008/2009, and then ten years later the theater chain in the morris plains shopping center in Parsippany New Jersey shut down for good, and is now used as storage/car & delivery parking lots.
The Xbox One sure was a hot mess but credit where credit is due, it really did become really good near the end of its life but it was way too late. The 360 is going to be the last top tier xbox system though.
I'll say it again - the 360/PS3/Wii era was the peak of modern gaming. The fact that you can fire up a 20 year old console and have almost nothing but fun speaks volumes. You still have most of the games look great from a modern perspective (sometimes, actually better) but without all of the nonsense of the modern era. It is actually mind-blowing
i got the psp and xbox 360 for Christmas 2007 when i was 9. both the psp and xbox 360 were only 2 years old at the time. now they are both 19. yeahhh just let that sink in for a bit 😂. i lost my psp around 2015 but i still have my original xbox 360 arcade with a rgh mod chip installed, a 1tb hdd with a bunch of games and use it daily.
I remember getting my very first 1080p flat screen for Christmas and when I got Gears of War 2 I was running through an underground subterranean level and there were rocks and plants all over the place. The lighting and colors in that level really showed what the full 1080p was capable of and my eyes were open to how gorgeous games could look. It was absolutely amazing.
I don't think Ill get over this era of gaming, Nothing compares and when people say you had to be there to feel it, You really just had to be there, It was different, Vibrant and man It was a blast to just get on and I didn't need a $10.99 battlepass or some stupid add-on to enjoy the full experience of a game, Brings up another topic, Games used to release finished! Not this modern gaming crap where they finish the game over a few years of peoples hard earned money and then take away all support for it a year after it finishes, Its just sad us older guys have to sit back and just watch it all go to hell essentially, RIP the 7th Generation of Gaming, It will Truly be missed.
This era was the Goldilocks zone of gaming when it was still niche enough for people to be passionate but popular enough to get funding I wish 360 had a soft mod available
Xbox 360 in 2007-2012, is so goated it’s unbelievable. What a time man! Playing Call of duty at 3am with a bag of hot cheetos and an Arizona was true peace!!
I got a Xbox 360 E about 2 weeks ago just because that model is better to keep overtime but holy moly I love this console so many cool amazing games it’s aesthetically pleasing and the menu screen was superb .
I'm still playing my Xbox 360 till this day cause I got to many games to master achievements wise for my account lol. I got an Xbox series X and I like it but it takes away a bunch of features that the Xbox 360 had built into the system like a music player that can play music in the background while you play videogames.
The Xbox 360 is my favorite console of all time!!! For how it felt at the time to the nostalgia, I have where it and all of the games are concerned, it was a gaming and media beast where everything about it felt premium, genuine and authentic!!!
hey bro I feel like were the same age and grew up in the same generation, born in the 90s having the ps1 and not rich enough to have the ps2, but was able to get the ps3/360 in my teens in 2009/2010 when I was working. looking back now its what I still play to this day. got my 75 inch tv for my ps4/ps5, and my crt by my bed with all retro consoles from Nes, ps1, ps2, og xbox, gamecube, wii. my pc monitor I play my ps3/360 on it.
So many good memories of me and my friends playing couch co-op left 4 dead and black ops 2. One in the chamber was awesome! i still have my old elite console with the hard drive, of course its red ringed but whatever.
@AlphaPapa69 No I didn't. The Xbox 360 wasn't made for 4k TV's and is a 720p console for the most part. Some games look better than others on a 4k television. Both games I mentioned look fairly sharp for not being remasters.
Well not just the Xbox 360 turning 20 in 2025, in 2026 The Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 will turn 20 years old, while the Playstation 2, Gamecube, and Xbox will turn 25 years old (not to be confused with the main brand name, just the 2001 version of Xbox). The Seventh gen consoles would be the last video game consoles that I would care to play on, as in the early 2010s I switched over to PC, and eventually Emulation in 2014/2015 (ten years ago to be exact in January 2015). And while my fondest memories are definitely the 5th and 6th gen consoles, the 7th gen consoles were just as good as the 6th gen consoles. Plus, the PS3 being backwards compatible with the PS2 and PS1, you could not go wrong with it. However, for the 360, we never got one until March 2011, and before that, I stuck with the Nintendo Wii until December 2010.
The first Saints Row made me want a 360, as a kid, and I still love that game. I ain't get to play it online, but recently got each single-player achievement.
The 7th gen still stands out as the best period of my life, and most of that was due to the games that gen. Started with the Atari 2600 back in 86 (got it late, at age 6) , so I was around for all the significant console gens. Though it was a huge pain in the ass to find a good HD display when it first hit, it was awesome once I locked in on that Sony WEGA HD CRT and the surround sound really upgraded to another level from what we had before. The transition from SD to HD was massive too. Much bigger leap than HD to 4K, so it was very impactful. The only real SHITSTAIN was going through 9 Xbox 360 consoles. I kept them alive on best buy warranties. There was a time when they averaged about 3 months life span. I had one that broke within 24 hours. PS3 emulation is quite impressive now with great upscaling for 4k displays. 360 emulation seems like it still needs more time. Even alot of the indies run choppy or not at all.
Xbox 360 was the best console, I ever had. But I switched to Playstation , because when the Xbox one presentation. They lost me with forced online connections and paying extra, when you bought a used game.
That’s happened to me too, I got a ps4 day one but i sold it when Microsoft announced backwards compatibility and I bought the Xbox one gears ultimate bundle.
I love xbox 360 , Microsoft's best console 😊. I played A LOT of the classic stuff back in the day like the ezio trilogy AC game, left 4 dead 1 n 2, tekken 6 , cod MW2 - black ops & MW3 , halo reach, destroy all humans path of the furon , I also used to play the OG Xbox version of GTA SA on 360 I play it more than GTA5 ❤
I have a 360 that is a POS now. The DVD drive is stuck. It still works otherwise. I ended up getting a secondhand 360 S ftom a seller on OfferUp and I loved it. Especially replaying some of my games both digital and physical. I didn't know about the 360 E until much much later. But i won't lie. The Xbox 360 is hands down one of my favorite consoles of that generation. It was also the first console that I played online. I will always love the original dashboard over the NXE and the newest dashboard that we know today.
If you could put the name of the game on screen that would be great! Some games look really fun but I don’t know what games they are. Please and thank you!
2005-2013: Xbox 360 was the ultimate 3rd party machine 2010-2020: ps4 literally ruled everything and it wasn’t even close man.Tables turned in a massive way that to this day Microsoft hasn’t recovered from the damage that gen did to the brand 2020-2024: the edge is for PS but they are mostly interested in making movies and doing pc ports than doing what they have been known for: a household for exclusive cinematic experiences… this gen is cooked anyways and only gta 6 can save it
Console? Yes. Discs? Hell no. I bought so many OG Xbox/Xbox 360 games and many of them were unreadable. I've never had a problems with PS2 or PS3 Discs, but on Xbox those have so bad quality it's nuts...
Battlefield 4 on the 360 is proof enough we never needed to go beyond the 360. I have a feeling like the increase in tech was to give developers the opportunity to be lazier: for example, Helldivers 2 could absolutely be last gen if not for some of the laziest lack of graphic/texture optimization I have ever seen... so instead you need latest gen tech to run what looks like a 2014 game (redditors please spare my life for insulting your sacred cow game)
@ okay, anything else you want to add to that? Because I gave a pretty detailed explanation on why I have the opinion that I have and you just kind of shit those few words out and nothing else
Even thought gaming is fun, or atleast it was fun. Gaming is highly overrated, compared to sports activities. Even thought Xbox changed the game with games like Ea Skate, and GTA, there is slightly small importance of it, for whole human life in general. It does cost much less than it should, because gaming is amazing, but it's not something that will ever be main focus in life.
I really like the look and feel the xbox 360 and ps3. Really was the time were games there at their best point.
I agree, they were a passion project. Now because they earn more than Movies do, it just gets pushed out with no love put into them. Why I tend to play more indie games now or go back to my 360!
Crazy that this console is like 19 years old.
How old are you?
@PlacideusaxIIV probably pretty young considering the profile picture
@@SpamJavelin-yw2oy uh, you don’t know that.
@ yeah I meant by that
Back when Xbox genuinely cared about growing and winning.
Back when Video Game companies still cared about their consoles and gaming/third party companies and software. I would say after the 7th gen consoles the video game consoles took a nose dive since.
Back when developers weren’t worried about shoving lgbt propaganda down our throats either…

Xbox 360 was a God among plastic back then. I’ve played so much Saints Row II. I wanna go back and play the first two Saints Row Games.
If you were going for "relatable down to earth guy talks about the good ol' days", you nailed it! Great video! 👍
Some of the games look/play surprisingly good on a 65 inch 4k OLED TV. Gears of War 2 looked very playable. Forza Motorsport 2 looked very decent.
You say that as if the Xbox 360 graphics were crap
@AlphaPapa69 No I didn't. The Xbox 360 wasn't made for 4k TV's and is a 720p console for the most part. Some games look better than others on a 4k television. Both games I mentioned look fairly sharp for not being remasters.
@ gears of war two was no slouch in the graphics department. I bet it would even look great on an old crt
I am sad that i never had an xbox before. But I might get a retro handheld to play original xbox games on the Go.
