And in the ps3 and x360 generation, developers/publishers like EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Konami and others got a lot of appreciation from gamers, unlike in the current generation
Imho, the PS3 will always be awesome. There are so, so many awesome games on the PS3. Enough that I could play the console exclusively for the rest of my life if I had unlimited access to it's game library...
My PS3 slim still works perfectly and still hooked up next to my PS5, PS2, OG Xbox and gamecube, I still have my PS4 but dont use it much due to PS5 being backwards compatible with PS4 games, but i still play and collect for my PS3, PS2, OG Xbox and GameCube regularly when im not on the PS5, nothing beats the 6th and 7th gen, best era of gaming ever
I still have my super slim PS3 and for years barely used it for games, but in this past year have been buying them up, up to 15 games now, the only problem is time to play them because I work a lot, but love this system and proud to say I bought it brand new and still have it hooked up.
Just spent the last 2 or 3 days playing Black Flag and Black Ops II on my PS3. I have a PS5, Switch, Xbox One.. and I still play games as old as 15/20/25 years all the time.
I go back to games from the 1980s regularly still. ...and heck, a lot of the modern games I play look and play like they're from the 90s. I wish companies like Capcom would make throwback RE titles. I think Konami should still be making 2D Castlevania games. There's a market for it and the games cost a fraction of the time & money to put together when compared to modern titles. One failed project can put a well known developer out of business in 2024, solely because of production costs. This is also why we see very few AAA titles that stand out from the crowd. They have to stick with what has proven to work/sell. Konami/Capcom could put a group of 10 talented ppl together & they could churn out a great RE/Castlevania game every 6 months. They'd sell great at $9.99 digitally and some of 'em would even do well at $30 for physical copies. The existence of brands like Limited Run games proves there's a market for this.
@@SidneyRJames I mostly play pvp shooters in vr like Onward, Breachers, Contractors, Contractors Showdown, and Pavlov because vr is the best way to play fps genre and the userbase is very active. The other genre like sports and others are great in vr as well. Just search for recommended vr games on youtube and just avoid VRChat while Beat Saber is okay
2006 I was gifted a Xbox 360 so from 2006-2022 I was a Microsoft fan BUT I picked up a PS3 and PS5 and I’m glad I did because of a HUGEEEEE back log to catch up on so I’m very happy. I loved the 360’s era Gears,Halo,Cod,Forza horizon, was just a different time on 360 so many summers of memories. But I’m glad to hop on the Sony bandwagon
Your videos really motivated me to get an older console, I only had a PS2 and played mostly on my PC all these years, but I saw a great opportunity to buy a 360 for around 60 bucks (I'm from Brazil), and I've been having a blast with it, unfortunately, the store I got it from closed, but mine came unlocked, so I just bought an external hard drive, installed Aurora, and loaded it up with games, it's been such a relief for those exhausting days and I actually, I haven't even opened Steam in over a month now, the 7th gen was really something special
I agreed still have my launch 60GB PS3, which I bought back in March 2007 when I was 17 years old. It cost me around £620 at the time. It has been the best console for me, and I still enjoy playing it now and then. It's hard to believe it's nearly 20 years old; I can remember it like yesterday. I got the PS3 along with the game MotorStorm and a Spider-Man Blu-ray film., you are righ , it makes me feel sick that Since the PS3 ,technology hasn't changed much compared to the PS4 and PS5.
If you're playing PS3 in 2024 you need to change the thermal paste, switch out the HDD for a SSD and install CFW. With CFW you can install all your game discs on the SSD. The console runs silently and load times are quicker. Another upgrade is to use a mClassic to give a sharper image with less aliasing. You can also use a mClassic daisychained with a 4K Gamer Pro to get the games looking nice on a 4K display.
I love the PS3. Still play it to this day. I do keep it stock. It's tied to my PS account I use on the PS4/5 and I don't want to risk a ban. I like to go for legit trophies occasionally. I have a true backlog a miles long, so no need to really jailbreak it yet. It's cool that people have figured it out though.
Had my 60 gig since launch….. got the yellow light the week PSN got hacked. Fixed it and transferred all my stuff to a slim that I put a 500 gig HD in. That’s what J still currently play on even though the 60 gig is fully fixed and working. Have a physical library of around 500 games…. Got every game I really want except Afrika. I’ve loved the PS3 since day one, and still it’s my favorite system of all time. Glad to see people finally coming around to it. Also glad that I got my games back when I was getting them for under $10 each. Being that the 360 was the popular system, it was easy to find games for PS3 cheap. In fact, about 25% of my collection was from a $7.50 game bin at my local Walmart. And these were great games (Mass Effect 2, Undead Nightmare, Split Second, etc….), not just clearance crap. Anyway, love PlayStation 3 and always will……
1. Get a Slim PS3 (CECH-20xx or CECH-21xx) 2. Upgrade the internal storage and install CFW (those above were the last models to fully support it) 3. Install Webman mod, activate your console & install PKGi. 4. Enjoy your PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games. Compatibility for PS2 games is around 77~81% + there are HD remasters like the Ratchet or Sly HD Trilogies, while for PSP it's roughly ~35%. PS1 compatibility using the PS1 Classics emulator is pretty much flawless, 99% of the games will be perfect. You can also follow similar steps for an Xbox 360 and take advantage of its backwards compatibility. Owning a RGH 360 and CFW PS3 will let you play a lot of PS2/Xbox games thanks to backwards compatibility. I would say they're easily the best consoles to own right now that are super easy to setup on a modern TV and install games if you're into older games.
Don't recommend CECH-20xx slims (launch edition slims from 2009). These things produce high amounts of heat output, weakening the console's reliability and making it susceptible to overheating and hardware failures. It's best to avoid these when shopping for slim models. You can also get CFW for some CECH-25xx slim models from mid 2010 to 2011. These things are great in terms of power efficiency and come with good Blu-Ray driver controllers embedded in the motherboard for greatly improved Blu-Ray reliability. GPUs and CPUs on these have great reliability as well. And CECH-21xx slim models (from early 2010 to mid 2010) are pretty decent in terms of power efficiency and reliability of the Blu-Ray drive, CPU, and GPU. CECH-25xx slims are just better.
@@tacos4419 My CECH-20xx works fine and I have God of War 3 which is known to make Phats combust with heat and never had an issue. Temps are stable. Problem with CECH-25xx is that it's too much of a gamble to buy one of those online so I'd recommend the CECH-21xx if you're chasing the best possible model without worrying about CFW support but those are actually rare, at least in Europe that's why I went with a 20xx.
I’ve said it before to my friends that the PS3 was Sony’s best system. Sure I had the PS4 and currently have the PS5 but the PS3 if you had the 60GB it had backwards compatibility was good times. If the PS5 had backwards compatibility it would be an easy win that’s one of the things that’s sitting Xbox upright along with Ultimate Game Pass.
Just turn on your ps3 an play killzone 2 an choose radec academy map , an appreciate the ray tracing reflection that the walls produce , The bricks reflection still amazes me till now , even tho im playing on ps5 now but i still sometimes go back an turn my ps3 on an play that killzone 2 radec academy map , the Cell processor is something magical that’s all i can tell tbh .
I love my 2,4 & 5 but the ps3 has always been my fav…Here’s why? Blu ray/Dvd player, CD music library/player, playing 3d shooting games on 3d TV, graphics & sound quality still very pleasing. Thank you SONY for making me so happy.
I still have my ps3 and play splinter cell , Metroid . I hooked up with my projector and surround sound. Got a whole wall in the basement. It’s AWESOME! need more games though
@@Videofreak518 I suggest you avoid all the fat models, as they're more prone to issues or may stop working altogether. The slims (especially CECH-25xx and CECH-3Oxx slim models) and especially the super slims (any model), are the most reliable PS3 consoles. Avoid the CECH-20xx slims (launch edition slims from 2009). These things produce high amounts of heat output, weakening the console's reliability and making it susceptible to overheating and hardware failures.
Dude I just started playing my ps3 two days ago the first game I played was Infamous 2 I pulled out a handful of ps3 games that still work really good there are people online playing ps3.
I have a massive collection of jrpgs for ps3. Physical is king. Star ocean the last hope and nier are my two favorites. They lean more on the action rpg side but I still think they can be categorized as jrpgs.
What i realized is, with this PS3, now playing all these all and other games on my 65" 4K mini led tv is.....heaven. Sound, graphics, it's all amazing. Completely agree. I'm glad to still having my PS3...with a 1Tb SSD....and an HEN of course ;-) The only pain in the ass will be always precise target shooting with the PS3 controller...Always better with a keyboard and mouse.
One of the most impressive, but least mentioned, awesome features of PS3 is specifically for GT5 and GT6. Get 3 PS3s, 3 copies of each game and a basic 4-port networks switch. Hook it all up with a g29 and a triple screen sim rig and you've got a pretty kickass 5760x1080 racing experience(no idea what the actual game rez is running at but that's what my monitors were natively). The head tracking with the PS Eye cam never really worked that well but I still have that thing somewhere.
Sometimes i think about the thousands of hours ive spent and what i could have been doing instead. Lerned a new language, worked overtime and invested in property, Lerned martial arts , gotten jacked......... Anyway so i played bloodborne for the first time lately what a game! I haven't even played sekiro yet im stoked 😊
Great vid and absolutely true I bought one in 2007 along with a new 50” HDTV Great memories, she died in 2010 so I went out and picked up a Slim (not the fugly super slim) Still runs like a champ
The xbox 360 and ps3 was the most advanced console generation for the time. When pc master race was ruled with RTS games like Dota. Starcraft.red alert, fps like counter strike, halflife and left4dead. And mmorpgs like ragnarok. M.U. and more. When graphics on the consoles was better than the pc counterpart. When powerful graphics card was not really mainstream. When pc monitors was just starting to be little flat screen while tvs were already big plasmas or early lcds And when steam was not really a marketplace for games yet. That's why consoles were king back then. But by the ps4 and xbox 1 generation . Pc master race really caught up. And consoles are lagging behind because pc parts have new releases more often than over 6 years for a console. That's why more people invest more on pc now. Since aside for being a work or school computer it can also game better now. That is also why exclusives are far more valuable now for the consoles so they could still sell the console instead of giving it away like xbox did. Sony is doing it little by little but pc users not wanting them because of PSN requirements. That's why the 360 and ps3 was very nostlagic.
Remember gameshare? Simply log into your buddies account on your ps3, download the titles the purchased, and then you get to keep them on your hard drive. Wasn’t even a loophole - they called it a feature. Amazing.
Literally just started playing my PS3 again last week & it’s been so fun getting into titles I couldn’t afford as a 6yo. Found a cheap DFGT wheel & now I can enjoy GT6 & Initial D to their fullest extent!!
I picked up another PS3 for cheap after donating mine to a shelter a few years ago, having fun with it over the PS5. Starting getting my old collection back easy, games are so cheap. I even bought factory sealed ones.
Just got all 3 uncharted games, all 3 resistance games and all 3 Bioshock games off fb market place for $25. Ive been loving diving into all these games again
By the time the ps3 came out, I'm already retired from console gaming. I played my life away on the NES, SNES, Genesis, PS1,2, N64, DC, GC, and tons of arcades. Man, I feel old. And I don't know what you are talking about.
Bro i bought one many years ago and abandoned it for some time after it brokedown on me. I was thinking about getting rid of it but glad i didn't. Instead i fixed it and hacked it so i could play all those awesome PS1 and PS2 games. I still have it along eith my PS4 Pro. Love your videos bro!
PS3 let you SAVE MOVIES MUSIC AND PICS ON THE SYSTEM. LETS YOU COPY SAVE FILES TO USB. PS5 doesn’t let you copy save files to usb or save movies on the system.
I have a slim model still. Have it hooked up to my 1440p monitor which scales incredibly well since 720p is basically half the output resolution. RPCS3 is awesome for the games that work on it. I backed up my library and got some of them to work pretty well on my Steam Deck that way. Games like Killzone 2 still need a decent amount of power to run correctly. But RPCS3 is coming along very nicely.
PS2 with FMCB memory card mod and Jailbroken PS3 is a must-have consoles. Duckstation, PPSSPP, PCSX2, and RPCS3 are amazing Playstation consoles emulators. Good times to enjoy old games.
I used to use my PS3 as a streaming media server. I couldn’t care less about Spotify or Netflix and I used all the media that I already owned and didn’t require internet which, at the time, was piss poor in my area. I need to set that up again.
I miss how in 2007 to 2012 you could buy a PS3 Slim for like $600 and get 500gb bundled with two games and two controllers on it and have a two year free trial of Game-InFormer magazine and it had free online gaming which is crazy that nobody can play games online for free anymore
The slim is my favorite console. Kept me busy for many years and was paramount to keeping in contact with friends via web browser. Family always said I need to calm tf down when typing so fast on either of the on screen keyboards for ps3 😅
If you ask me, the PS3 was the renaissance of the hack-and-slash. God of War 3 needs no introduction, and there were a number of obligatory ports of the older games, sometimes even on a single disk. But there was also Bayonetta, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Dante's Inferno, Darksiders, DMC, Marlow Briggs, the first Space Marine game, a handful of Kingdom Hearts installments and remasters alike, and even a Splatterhouse remake if you're into tragically unpolished jank. Beyond that, given the PS3's pedigree compared to the Xbox 360, you probably wouldn't be surprised to hear it was a real weeb's machine as well, somewhat touched upon by the aforementioned Kingdom Hearts. The amount of JRPGs that the PS3 housed was absolutely colossal, from Final Fantasy to Disgaea to Atellier...
The PS2/Xbox to 360/PS3 was the last true generational leap we’ve had.
7th Gen was the peak, it will always be relevant, period.
It has yet to be topped. The PS3 is one of the best consoles ever
Ps2 takes that cake. There are just too limited games and genre in ps3 and there is no innovated gameplay
Yeah because no only the PS3 was awesome, the Wii and Xbox 360 also offered amazing titles too and nice exclusives and were great alternatives.

The existence of brands like Limited Run games proves there's a market for this.
i dont see myself buying anymore systems past ps5 as a 40 yr old man
You should get Meta Quest 3 it is really good and is groundbreaking more than 8bit 2d to hd
3d
@@toututu2993do you recommend any games for the meta quest?
Love this console.
I grew up with the Genesis, PS1 and PS2, but the PS3 is my favorite console ever made.
Bro you rock! Thank you for the awesome content!
It's how I feel too....
If you got a PS3 backwards compatibility and you got a PS5 that’s all you need you’ll have 5gen of gaming and you will be set
Resistance Fall of Man - Multiplayer was underrated. 40 + online in a single deathmatch in 2007 was a thing of beauty and rare.
I love your content! Thank you for sharing!
Anyway, love PlayStation 3 and always will……
1. Get a Slim PS3 (CECH-20xx or CECH-21xx)
2. Upgrade the internal storage and install CFW (those above were the last models to fully support it)
It's
best to avoid these when shopping for slim models.
You can also get CFW for some CECH-25xx slim models from mid
2010 to 2011. These things are great in terms of power efficiency and come with good Blu-Ray driver controllers embedded in the motherboard for greatly improved Blu-Ray reliability. GPUs and CPUs on these have great
reliability as well.
And CECH-21xx slim models (from early 2010 to mid 2010) are pretty decent in terms of power efficiency and reliability of the Blu-Ray drive, CPU, and GPU. CECH-25xx slims are just better.
Good way to get banned from psn
@@tacos4419 My CECH-20xx works fine and I have God of War 3 which is known to make Phats combust with heat and never had an issue. Temps are stable.
Problem with CECH-25xx is that it's too much of a gamble to buy one of those online so I'd recommend the CECH-21xx if you're chasing the best possible model without worrying about CFW support but those are actually rare, at least in Europe that's why I went with a 20xx.
Pure fun era, no pay to win. Good online fun
Killzone 2, I got that game on launch and the graphics blew me away. It still holds up and I love to revisit it from time to time
I’ve said it before to my friends that the PS3 was Sony’s best system.
PS3 is my favorite console
I’m playing uncharted 3 on my ps3 right now this system is legendary the 🐐
That game still looks great
I’m playing uncharted 3 on my PS5
Back when playing online on the ps3 was free…
I love my 2,4 & 5 but the ps3 has always been my fav…Here’s why? Blu ray/Dvd player, CD music library/player, playing 3d shooting games on 3d TV, graphics & sound quality still very pleasing. Thank you SONY for making me so happy.
I still have my ps3 and play splinter cell , Metroid . I hooked up with my projector and surround sound. Got a whole wall in the basement. It’s AWESOME! need more games though
I sold my fat ps3 back in like 2011 ended up getting the slim some years later, and now looking to getting the fat one again at a good price
These things produce high amounts of heat output,
weakening the console's reliability and making it susceptible to overheating and hardware failures.
I recently bought a PS3 I love it so amazing I love Time Crisis hahah
Uncharted 3 had me in a choke hold played till the servers went down miss that game 4 is active and just doesnt do it for me
I own 2 PS3's! Fat & Slim models!😊
PS3 was the better console Xbox had the better remote based on reaction time
I appreciate it. It's the last Slim model I owned before I finally upgraded to PS5 Slim disc version early this year. Never owned a PS4..
Still have my ps3 hooked up to this day it’s awesome in 2024
Great vid and absolutely true
I bought one in 2007 along with a new 50” HDTV
Great memories, she died in 2010 so I went out and picked up a Slim (not the fugly super slim)
Still runs like a champ
The era of games
About my second PS3 when I moved back to Ohio😊 I love the system in the games it's a solid
Ps3 all the way 😂 bro your videos are AWESOMETACULAR!!!
I like it when this guy sits there and raves about the PS3
Remember gameshare? Simply log into your buddies account on your ps3, download the titles the purchased, and then you get to keep them on your hard drive. Wasn’t even a loophole - they called it a feature. Amazing.
2:43 Haha it was the complete opposite thinking in the EU back then: it was actually hard to find people who owned a 360 ^^ The good old times, man!
Literally just started playing my PS3 again last week & it’s been so fun getting into titles I couldn’t afford as a 6yo.
Found a cheap DFGT wheel & now I can enjoy GT6 & Initial D to their fullest extent!!
The N64 belonged to the 5th generation, alongside the PS1 and Saturn
I like to play older games on my PS5, really glad they have supported PS4 titles and even some older games nowadays
You’re married? I don’t you wear a wedding ring
Married to his PS3 lol
What’s the skating game you were playing ?
There was 2, which one?
The one that showed up most was one of the SKATE games
Skate 2+Tony Hawk I think it’s Project 8
the canadian energy seeping from this video made me sub immediately
Bro i bought one many years ago and abandoned it for some time after it brokedown on me. I was thinking about getting rid of it but glad i didn't. Instead i fixed it and hacked it so i could play all those awesome PS1 and PS2 games. I still have it along eith my PS4 Pro. Love your videos bro!
Got my ps3 in 06 for xmas. I was dying to play Ratchet and Clank on ps3. Ps3 was and still is awesome.
PS3 let you SAVE MOVIES MUSIC AND PICS ON THE SYSTEM. LETS YOU COPY SAVE FILES TO USB. PS5 doesn’t let you copy save files to usb or save movies on the system.
What’s the controller you’re using at 0:09? Is it for the ps3?
I still use my ps3
I have the original backwards compatibility PS3, and I believe it's the most beautiful console ever created.
Awesome video. ❤
What is the first game in the video? I remember playing it when I went to a friend's house, but never knew the name.
The PS3 is the most appropriate console of that generation. It had a bad start but came on strong of the 7 gen.
Hell yeah the same video again
(I love the PS3 and want to see this video a hundred more times)
