If this episode was twice as long I'd have watched all 4 hours and 28 minutes in one sitting. I was enthralled the whole time I watched this. What a cool & humble guy.

I remember a Real Demo at my local shop in Chantilly, Virginia in the winter of 1989, I think. It was the first tour they did. The shop had no ramps set up or anything, so the team went to an underground parking garage and skated WITH all of us young skate rats instead of performing for us like celebrities, and it was one of the raddest things of my youth. I know Thiebaud was there. Not sure if Tommy was there, but it was great. BTW, this video really made my day. It was one of the hardest days I've had in a long while, and to come home to this interview really made me cheer up. Thank you Nine Club.

Did you go to a demo in Maryland at a shopping center parking lot. Tommy g was there. Do you remember that? It was probably 90-91? I can’t remember where it was. I’m sure there’s video somewhere.

Mark Gonzales, John Lucero just one of the legends ... Heath, Aarto, Geoff, Ronnie, Donny B, Brian A, Bastien S, Kareem.... still so many interesting skaters. Keep on with fantastic work, all compliments from Europe

Lol, I started skating before I started playing basketball. I didn't even know Air Jordan was a real person. I didn't even know Jordan's were a sub- brand of Nike. I saw Chin and was like, "what are those, they're so cool!" Then it all started to come together. I started playing basketball about a year later and that's when I figured out Michael Jordan and Air Jordan were the same person. And then the funniest part of this all is that my parents were so cheap I never even got a pair. I actually just had regular Air Force 1s that I colored with markers in red blue black and whatever. Thirty years later, I've still never owned a pair of Jordan's.

For real! I’m the same way with snowboarding… I try to hit every powder bank, roller, bowl carve and feature on damn near every run. Drives my skier straight lining buddies crazy cuz I’m always traversing around, cutting across trying to take advantage of every feature. I wonder how much of the Bones Brigade & skate videos I would study when I was a grom had an influence on that.

I'm a dedicated skateboarder since pretty much 40 years, anyway if I follow the Nine Club with T.Guerrero, its because I respect him as a skateboarder but also as a musician. What an exemple for a reconversion from skateboard to Music !? And just for other followers like his music, at 1.56.40 he was talking about his inspiration sounds and he mentioned "Ethiopian Jazz", and I can tell you, yes he's right, he certainly listen to this band: "Mulatu Astatqé". Please, check by yourself and you will find one of his inspiration! Respect to everyone reading this and...Stay Firm, keep Rolling!

I remember watching Tommy's brother Tony doing nose wheelies for days in GG Park on a Sunday. I agree his brother was a good skater. I owned on Madrid board before back in the day, it was a Beau Brown. It did not delam on me at all.

My first favorite skater as a kid. I thought he was the raddest dude on the planet back in the 8th grade. My first real complete was a hot pink bonite xt flaming dagger, had pressure cracks like within the first few days.

Good episode but not the best ... and here's my insight on the time toward the end of Tommy's days at Powelll-Peralta. Everybody that came through the doors of Stacy's (secret) studio was always super hyped on being there and filming. I worked on Ban This and was there everyday and saw everyone come in at some point or another. The day we were shooting the box car scooters skit, Tommy came in. He was wearing a leather jacket, jeans, and combat boots. Stacy asked if he wanted to change, but Tommy said no. In fact Tommy just really gave off a vibe that he wasn't into it anymore. He probably just wasn't into the silly skits anymore, but it came off as not caring about skating anymore. You had the LA Boys that were living to skate, and Tommy just seemed to have new interests. I'm sure that day had something to do with it. It's sad because you can't even have an off day ... but honestly, there was never any talk about retiring anyone. In fact, Stacy always said if he could have any skater skate for his team, it would be Rodney and Mike V, that he wanted back ... and lastly, for the record, Stacy didn't hold back footage of anyone to make the older skaters look better, he just didn't reshoot the newer skaters closer to the release of the video. The La Boys were shot in May/June and the video wasn't released until December. You can only imagine how much better thy had gotten in that 6 months.

So Ban This came out in 12/1988? That must’ve been the premiere because it’s release date is 1989, so I’m guess it was 01/1989? Makes a lot of sense considering Hokus Pokus and Rubbish Heap are also 1989 but their impact was felt in 1990.

i felt like Chris didn't wanna talk about the music but I was here for music mostly even tho I'm a skater. Tommys music is pure gold. Good stuff nonetheless !
