Little Britain? Oh dear, I don't think you are prepared to witness how truly awful that game was.
I really liked the books as a kid, and honestly didn't hate the movie as a kid and after I rewatched it as an adult. Although, the Eregon story itself was actually the most generic fantasy story possible. Even the author has admitted that he was really inexperienced when he wrote the books and they have a lot of issues with unoriginal ideas. The later books he wrote are way better.

And star wars is just the hero's journey myth as outlined by Joseph Campbell.
Fun fact about the film: The film was supposed to start a trilogy filmed in a similar way to the Lord of the Rings (they filmed every film one after another) but because everyone hated it and it bombed at the box office they canceled the other installments

@@Ranstone Except the movie is boring and generic. Not Percy Jackson bad though, but it was worse of an adaptation than Goblet of Fire was which is notorious for being the worst Harry Potter movie by far.
@@Ranstone Ah yes, let's call something a myth and replace it with another one. 2006 internet wasn't solely "Basement Trolls" and today's Rotten Tomatoes score is not the same now as it was nearly twenty years ago. (There are so many more trolls now who bomb reviews for fun.) This movie is objectively bad. It made a profit and they still decided to scrap the series because so many people didn't like it. If it was good, it would have made a lot more.
They changed way too many things from the books to appease existing fans and the terrible production and acting didn't bring in many new fans. If you enjoy it, that's great. Quality doesn't have anything to do with enjoyment. But they were going to make multiple movies based on the book series and decided not to because the first movie wasn't successful enough.

@@mrcosmo670I don’t think it was a box office success enough for the studio to justify funding a sequel. But also, the screenwriters foolishly wrote themselves into a corner by writing Roran almost out of the story entirely in the Eragon film, when his story is a huge part of the overall plot in the books. Especially the second book.

I genuinely enjoyed this game as a kid. I played the OG xbox and played it quite a bit, often revisiting levels i liked. Though it was a bad coop game as player 2 was a single step up from a random second crosshair showing up in a shooter game without a player attached.
I also have very fond memories of this game!
It’s still funny to me that a big part of my childhood were these awful movie tie-in video games. They were so bad, so often lol

I know this particular Comment is satire. But I hate people who genuinely say that. Pretending Like Ratchet and clank wasn't on ps2. Jake and Daxter. Sly Cooper. God of war 1&2. Gta 3/vice city/San Andreas. It was on Xbox but still the same Era so it counts Halo combat evolved and halo 2 and fable

@@jimhawkens7414 IDK man, the graphics don't look very off from many of the examples you gave and plenty others I can think of. Rachet and Clank, Jack and Daxter, and Sly Cooper aren't fair comparisons, because they have a stylized art style. Eragon like many games of that era were going for more of a live action style. Better comparisons would be to the GTA ps2 era games, or the battlefront games, both of which arguably has worse graphics, depending on how you look at them. GTA Vice city, you are not going to pretend that vice city had stellar graphics. At least you can see the facial details in Eragon, and they don't even look half bad.
So yeah, it is really unfair to complain about the graphical fidelity of games from an era where this is basically what you'd expect, and may even be impressed by. Cuz I remember getting this game to play on the PS2, and I don't ever recall complaining about the graphics...because those were just the graphics of the time. Sometimes, games do have notably worse graphics even for their time, but really, I don't believe this is one of those cases.
It's not a great game by any stretch of the imagination, but criticizing it for something that it couldn't have helped is not a great way to look at games. Really, the graphics are not the problem with this game.

I actually liked the game a lot too, but it has a lot of reasons to be hated. Like those bald dudes you see here? 7:45 In both the game and the movie it shows them as big bald men in animal hide. Those are supposed to basically be minotaur people, not at all human. Like Tauren from world of warcraft. Which is about on par for this in terms of being faithful to the source material, all of the character development was half assed at best or more often, just skipped over. There's just a lot of things at every corner that could have been done better in very basic ways but they just, just didn't bother.
This game was good for an 8-10 year old who liked LOTR.

I was so pissed at the movie when I saw it. Man those books are really good too. There's an awesome magic system where to cast spells you need to say what you want happen in the ancient elvish language, but it also takes as much energy out of you as to physically do it. So like chucking a big rock at someone would exhaust you way more than snapping a artery in their brain. Eragon does the brain thing, dropping whole platoons of unshielded guys at once.
This game was honestly better than I expected it to be back then. Loved playing co-op and the soundtrack was dope.
I actually saw this in theaters shortly after I got my drivers license in 2006. I remember this specifically because I bought The pick of destiny soundtrack on my way to the movie theaters. Yeah that's the only thing I remember about this movie

Idk dude...look up the completely separate DS version of this game. It has full camera control and plays like an action RPG, has cool magic system and it's fairly open map from the start but around the 3/4 mark it becomes completely open and you can even fast travel with the dragon. It is so baffling that the PS2 game is worse than the DS one. It's usually the opposite lol
Still own this game for my PS2. I can say it have some 'ideas' but in the end became a generic hack n slash with almost no memorable moment at all. Glad to this covered.
Being gaslit to think you're the chosen one in a Truman show type way doesn't sound that bad. They're obviously not going to let you die but you don't know that you just get to go on a lot of cool adventures killing things and saving people using cool weapons
Was about to buy this at my local retro game store, but even at $4, the owner advised against it as it was a waste of money. I ended up getting The Punisher instead

Excited to see the new 'blast!' content on the way! Some suggestions I'd have are some more gangster tie in games, Scarface: The World is Yours and Reservoir Dogs. Also Timesplitters: Future Perfect and Brothers in arms are good FPS games if u play old gems. Keep up the great work!

I remember when I was a wee tot, I saw the original Eragon book in my school's library. There was no movie yet, so every time I saw the book's front cover I would pronounce the title as "E-Reagan" in my head. I also thought the book was named after the dragon on the front cover too.
It's really sad that both the game and the movie for this series SUCKED, because the book series was absolutely incredible. Still to this day one of the most enjoyable reads I've ever had, I've gone back to the full series 3 times since I originally read it and it's just great every time.
I used to like the movie but after I read the series I wish they could do it justice

I think I played a demo of this back in the day. A buddy of mine and 12 year old me had blockbuster game pass and we're making multiple trips a day at times. We passed up this game.

This was one of the many games that came along with the used PS2 that i got years ago. Never played it since i could tell it sucked just from the weird title alone.

It's not a J-peg, it's a MATTE PAINTING! It's just like the movies! :P Also the Beowulf game may not be great, but it has some fun mechanics, like there is a whole mechanic with making your thanes do stuff for you with teamwork, but if you use the superpowers that the Gods give Beowulf they become afraid of him because of how violent he becomes so you have to be careful when you use them. I got stuck at a particularly tough bit early on and never beat it, but keep meaning to get back to it some day. They also get things across in mechanics instead of cutscenes which makes them more satisfying, like when Grendel's mother forces Beowulf to give her a new child, you are in complete control as you try to fight her off but eventually it becomes unwinnable, so she doesn't just seduce beowulf and make him look like an idiot to the player, you tried to fight her off yourself and failed. She overwhelms YOU. Not the character.

I remember renting this game a long time ago.
The only thing I remember was getting stuck at the second stage on the screen where you and Brom are fighting in a place on fire, where the game crashed for you. I don't even remember the tutorial part you did in this video.
Even as a dumb kid who liked the movie, I wasn't impressed. In fact I think I enjoyed the java phone game more, I remember at least beating that. It's more than I can say about this version.

This is actually one of my favorite book series, it was this book that made me interested in reading growing up. Didn’t care much for the movie or game though.
Also, if I could recommend trying out the game “Portal Runner 2” for the PlayStation 2, it was one of the weirdest games I have ever played as a kid.

My older brother had this game for the Xbox. We both read the book. I remember really liking the first book, then getting like halfway through the second before I got tired of it. The movie was trash and a huge letdown. As a kid I never realized that Eragon(the book) is just a reskinned Star Wars A New Hope.
And the second book is essentially the Empire Strikes back.
There actually is 2 levels where you fight enemies on the dragon, there’s one where you literally fly over armies and burn them with fire, and the final level where you use your bow to fight a boss.
I only know this because I played this entire game with my dad when I was a kid 😂🤣
Fun story: my neighbor had this game, and I always wanted to play it. But being 8 and them 13 and 15, I of course was only allowed to watch. Once I finally got this game on the original Xbox, I broke it, shat on it, and buried it behind a tree in my woods. Great memories :)

How come they choose the narrator in the video narration sequences at 1:30 and 6:38 to be a person with a Jamaican or Haitian accent? In mid-evil fantasy movies, plays and video games, the producers usually choose someone with an English, Scottish, Irish, or new Zealand accent to be the narrator to match the middle-aged, European based setting that the game takes place in.
