I’m that person as well. I was waiting for a JDM manufacturer to keep me from buying a Focus RS. Then here comes the GR Corolla and Manual Supra. Always wanted a MK4 Supra like everyone else and this is as good as it’s going to get.
Of all the "O.G." tuner cars that have returned recently, I think this mk5 is my fav; still wild to me that the Supra finally came back into production 🙌
I mean yes and no... not exactly a supra in heritage... since it’s mainly a bmw in a Toyota skin and Toyota tuning, it’s a great sports car with the supra nameplate slapped on there probably for marketing reasons. Still a good sports car but to say they “brought the supra back into production” is a kinda but not really
Dreams do come true! This GR Supra in a manual, the GR Corolla in a manual, the GR 86 in a manual, the new Z in a manual, and of course the Mazda Miata in a manual. This may be the end of the internal combustion engine but for the enthusiast, it looks like the best has been saved for last. Time to get a bigger garage and a better paying job to pay for it all because these are cars I know I would regret not getting after they are gone. Again great job Joe and Lori. Thank you.
Yeah the z just using a barely revised 7 year old q50 engine isn't really doing for me. Plus you only get an lsd and all the other goodies if you pay just as much for a supra. I'd honestly rather take a supra with better looks and more modding capability then a vr30tt that's reliability is shotty at best. I didn't like how the mk5 looked on release, it's growing on me slowly; and now that it has a manual it's looking a lot more worth the price. My main gripes are just the interior now, the z's looks better imo but the infotainment is lacking. But if I'm paying 50k for a sports car, I definitely want the more aggressive one with a inline6 that cna be cranked to 100.

I'll might get a Supra 6-speed, but its not worth $60k+, relative to the market, with a more powerful Nissan Z and Mustang Mach 1 out there. I have the BMW M2, and this is basically be a sexier, but less practical M2. This will be out for 3-4 years, so there's no rush.....
The Z is not more powerful than the GR Supra. It may be on paper, but in real life the Toyota makes way more power than the Nissan. It's not even close. The Mustang and the GR Supra? That's a closer match-up.
Slaps from Europe (jokes). Great review even if static and silent. Odd about the price as here in Southern Europe where performance cars are taxed to death, this manual Supra costs pretty much the same -yet the regular variant, not the limited edition. I was considering adding a GR86 to my byre but now I will be getting this Supra iMT complementing my perfect manual 718 GTS 4.0. Keep up the good work. Agnus Dei
Going to be a sad day when everyone who said they really wanted one won't qualify in their credit application. But in all seriousness, it'll sell at least 50% of its units in manual trim--that's what the M2 and M2 Competition did here in North America.
Love this trim level and the matte white paint! Would have loved to see carbon fiber on the steering wheel instead of the brown leather and would have loved to see carbon fiber trim along the door panel!

The glossy black plastic that scratches/ smudges easily and non matching interior door color really throws off the overall look of the cars interior. Hard to justify 60k figure on this car
I have no use for a 2 door 2 seater sports car as a dad but damn, this is such a home run.
This is faster than a z.
lol @ paying more for old transmission technology that is slower hahahahahahah silly
The Z is not more powerful than the GR Supra. It may be on paper, but in real life the Toyota makes way more power than the Nissan. It's not even close. The Mustang and the GR Supra? That's a closer match-up.
Thanks for sharing that great info.
AMSperformance, known for tuning nissans, did a dyno on a manual Z and it made less torque and hp than the old a90 supra with the 335hp.
Waiting for standard since supra came back. Finally it just here today! Can’t wait to get one ☝️
Awesome content. Keep it up man
I would never own this car, but that Matte white looks incredible!
How does the shift feel compare to a BMW manual, did they improve upon the rubberish shift feel normally from a BMW?
100% major improvement!
Finally a manual transmission that should’ve came factory.
You know it brother!
The base 3.0 has leather/alcantara seats which is more than enough for me 🙌🏼
Joe! I saw this in the background of your 86 review and knew it would be next. You know, I really appreciate that you’re not yelling at us or trying to hype us up. I wrote that initially when I was feeling a little se dative to the common RUclips approach. That Supra is nice…I dig the badge in red. Thanks for always bringing out the best of all the cars you review.
I am glad that you are digging this one.
i know they're completely different types of cars but my interest in this has almost completely evaporated now that i've seen the new RS3
The RS3 is a hot performance sedan.
Toyota is doing a great job with its GR lineup.
The driver door was brown like you wanted but the passenger door isn't. Hmmmmm
My dream car lol I really want to buy one. Hopefully they are stil making the MT in the next 2 years
Nice to see a manual come out again. However I find it kind of funny that not too long ago we had to pay extra for automatic transmissions and now they're making us pay extra for what they had replaced originally
The glossy black plastic that scratches/ smudges easily and non matching interior door color really throws off the overall look of the cars interior. Hard to justify 60k figure on this car
Well done. Another great review. Didn’t know they were going to have a rev match feature on the manual (like the z has had). 👍🏽
It's panic move from Toyota with this manual Zupr4
The toyota Corolla base manual has rev matching. What makes you think its anything special? Lol
I'd turn it off and just heal toe.
Joe, you are looking younger by the day. It has to be the 6-speed manual transmission. What else could it be?
I totally agree with that!
I have no use for a 2 door 2 seater sports car as a dad but damn, this is such a home run. Lighter, faster, more agile Z with the legendary bulletproof B58 engine from BMW, closed deck( takes boost incredible well with same block as their diesel engine). DAMN. ALSO, CHEAPEST M CAR ON SALE AND BEST ONE.
This is not an m car. The M cars have a much more powerful engine. The Supra is a RWD M240i.
@@huehuehue-x3c technically you are correct, however, this is faster than the current M2 competition and pretty much all the smaller M cars that have come before. The new M3 has the S58 and is faster, BUT, you need to consider how this car has more than ENOUGH power for its size and weight. Just my 2 cents. This is a very quick car, very agile and nimble.
@@sunnyvalentino the manual supra might dip in the 3200lbs range since there's a 50lbs difference with the m4 manual and auto.
@@hpickettz34 music to my ears. Damn, I might go test drive one of these. I am eyeing the three GR cars and this one is the least practcal but there's an X factor about it. Right now the GR 4 is on top of my list and makes most sense as a dad but dayum this one is so hot.
lol @ paying more for old transmission technology that is slower hahahahahahah silly
Would like to sell my A90, but unlocked ECU and having it Stage 3, not sure if the MT version will be tunable, and I am already losing some speed with adding my shifting... but man, I think its probably still worth it to have the manual..
*Everything is tunable*
Back then I zonk the "zupra" for being well BMW and auto only. Now it has the manual. TBH, I dont really hate it anymore. Take a grain of salt and well.... accept it, it is still a wonderful car and BMW is a great automaker
This is what I’ve been waiting for! The manual in a Supra. Pricing will be significant. Markups?
Just curious, should i go for the new z or the manual supra?
Good review. The special edition badge is in a strange spot, on the side of the dash where you can only see when you open the driver door
11:49 Joe just turned into NELLY “if you wanna go and take a ride wit me” 🤣
Man's said there's a Sienna if you need more room hahahaha 😆
Question ! I’m 6’1” and currently own an 2019 Miata rf and I fit in it but it’s very tight , how does the room compare to the bad mx5? Thanks your videos are very helpful. I’m looking to trade in for the 2023 Supra !
Brilliant - yes sir. You want headroom, then get a van!
Heck yeah!
Great video!!! I always had disdain for automatic. But, they’ve made such strides in the past 10 years!
I know how you feel!
Everyone will say how great the manual transmission is but when it comes down to buying it most people will still get the automatic because the manual transmission car is so much slower.
That for everyday car, get automatic corolla. for fun and engagement, get manual
