Excellent point about making sure you have work for the machine you are getting. Also, the idea to start by outsourcing the work until you have the need to produce you own items to save money is a great insight. I appreciate you for sharing this information. You show passion for your business and pride in your workmanship. Very inspirational. Thank you Big Brandoh.
Thank you so much for this video. I was thinking about getting a machine. After watching your video, im gonna take your advice and outsource first, see how that goes then buy or pass on a machine.
Too late! I have a Ricoma TC-1501 coming in 2 days! Haha. Definitely did my research tho! This channel helped me realize I should definitely pull the trigger on one!
Sounds like your ready for your 2nd machine. Ive been considering this for years but want to be able to have a company technician service it regularly and it doesnt sound like very many dealers will make house calls. Also a few ladies have put videos up that bought multi needle machines just for their own use. That would be a dream come true for a lot of us. Your content was very helpful. Thanks!
Great video Brandoh, yes research and planning is so important. Started with a table top before moving into larger machine- definitely worth the investment. Once people knew I offered embroidery my orders increased. All local and through referrals.
Great information, I bought my first 4 Melco’s 20 years ago, at that time I didn’t know what the heck I was doing 💯You’re right start out small, it’s a big investment🎉that voice cool😂👍🏽
Damn I just bought one the other day. No customer no plan. The thought just kept popping up into my head for over 6 months. "Get one" "buy an embroidery machine" " buy it". This is going to be an interesting ride
Okay my brother Big B thanks for lacing us with more inspiration apparently I need to step my game up another level and add to my t-shirt customizing and you are very correct the price has kept me away for too long I am now thinking about getting some embroidery done.
Wonderful advice. Love that you stress the goal is profit. Great tools never disappoint. You will forget the cost long before you wear out the machine.
I see what your saying about justifying the business before getting it I bought one of those 4x4 flat brother ones to get my feet wet and get some experience and sat for months and now just making money on beanies it's a slow machine but it's now running almost everyday
Thanks for keeping it real. So many of these channels make me cringe because every few weeks they are getting a new machine. The people watching don’t know the backstory…they don’t know if they are ambassadors in some way and probably leasing that as long as they make content, they don’t know if they’re going into huge debt for all this stuff. Even myself, who has pretty solid personal finance discipline will fall into the trap once in a while of damn that looks cool..I need that! When like you say…don’t buy S if you don’t currently have the need or business! Because unless your a natural born seller with crazy marketing techniques…creating new business aint easy. And sure some equipment you have buy (regardless of your current sales or lack of) in order to get a start somewhere….but big purchases you gotta be smart!
I appreciate the honesty in this video. I have till the end of the day to pull the trigger on the single head machine. I told them i don’t want it till 1st week of March. Want to set up website, LLC, inventory. But I’m having second thoughts just cuz I have no clientele, no experience. But I do know that I have ambition and drive and willing to learn as I go. Your thoughts @BigBrandoh?
trust in yourself. only you know what your capabilities are. if i was in your shoes i wouldnt even wait for website llc etc... i'd get it and put the work in. these machines require hands on learning. So the faster i learn the faster im making money. but once again, i dont know how fast you learn or how bad you want it. you gotta trust yourself and be real with yourself
@@BigBrandoh thanks bro. I believe in myself for sure. Your videos inspired me as well bro!! I’m gonna shop around and start off with just hats and work my way up to shirts, hoodies etc… Thinking about getting 50-100 hats to start with.
Big Brandoh appreciate all your work on making this videos helping us newbies out. I have a question Im considering buying a embroidery machine like the Ricoma 1501. I wanted to know if Ricoma takes down payments and qualify me for the balance. Im assuming they would depending on my credit. I have started a small business just a few months ago and haven't establish business as of yet don't know if I can apply as a business or on my individual credit. I was considering applying and dropping like 2-3k and financing the rest. How did you go about purchasing your machine ? Thanks in advance and any advice you may be able to provide me.
I'm with the content but a big flaw here. "If you want a machine and have no work, re-evaluate". "If you have xyz amount of people coming to you for work..." To get that work you need a machine so it's a catch 22. :p
you dont need a machine to get work. you can out source the work as you build client list. middle man the embroidery till you have steady clients. OR buy a machine and hope you can get the work. minimize the risk by selling the service and out sourcing the work. your client will never know if you do it in house or not. they only interact with you and not the embroidery company. there are alot of print houses that operate this way. its called being a "Print Broker". you sell the services and have other print shops do the producing. its not a new way of operating, just a proven way of showing you dont have to be the factory out the gate.
@@BigBrandoh totally fair and never thought about it. I like controlling the quality/choices that lead to quality and so I'm down for a machine. The learning experience I'm also excited for but you're totally right. I could outsource it to prove the business which is much smarter. You've given me a lot to think about.
Big brandoh would you embroider on customers clothing locally or only with your own I'm think of offering for scrubs but those are not cheap what if it gets messed up lol
practice makes perfect. but also learning your machine, learning your process and capabilities before offering the service is key. build up your confidence before offering the service to minimize that risk of user error. shit happens all the time but the more you do it the more comfortable you'll get
I was gonna just listen, Now, you are talking about ricoma. I just purchased an em1010, I have yet to talk to my account manager in person. They want me to wait almost 2 weeks before I had my formal training. Don't mean to put a damper on your video, you make very good content. But, Ricoma, so far I haven't seen any good customer service so far. I am attempting to just go it alone. Learn the machine on my own. Like you said, you have a payment to make. I won't beable to use that machine until after I made a payment on it. lol. You should try to lease a car, make the payment, but can't drive it. See if that works. Just saying. PEACE
i have chroma but most of the time its easier to outsource it. i usually just google "digitizing for embroidery" and hit up the first 4-5 companys and see who can turn it around the quickest hahahaa.
Great video man it really means a lot, choosing my first embroidery machine is a huge issue for me, specially since it costs a lot and it's a big step for me, I have rainbow RBE4060-A12 in mind based on my budget, I'd appreciate it a lot if you tell me your thoughts

So what happened? Did you get work popping off?
Love your candor brother. Needed this as we're looking to add embroidery in '23. Dropping gems as always, appreciate your knowledge

Do you now wish you have gotten the 2 or more head machine?
Thank you so much big Bother!
Bless you, Big Brandoh. What do you think about charging the sample?

Ricoma Em 1010?
solid machine. i know a few personal friends who have got that machine. no complaints from them.
Hey bro, do you do.ypur own digitizing? What software do you use, or do you outsource the digitizing?
i have chroma but most of the time its easier to outsource it. i usually just google "digitizing for embroidery" and hit up the first 4-5 companys and see who can turn it around the quickest hahahaa.
@@BigBrandoh Dope, yeah because the digitizing can get quite complex. Cool man, thanks for getting back man, appreciate you!
In your expertise with the Ricoma 1501 do you have any idea why the machine would pull the design off center out of the middle?
Sorry that’s not going to make sense without a picture

What are you selling?
