I went to Dr. Lori’s antiques appraisal event in my area. I like treasure hunting and when I go to antique stores/malls , thrift stores, flea markets, or auction houses , I always take a loupe, a flashlight, a tape measure and a diamond detector. A flashlight is extremely important! It helps you see hairlines /cracks in porcelain. I did find some nice diamond jewelry from thrift stores and flea markets!

Such cool information about the maquette piece! “The technical term for the “oily build-up” on wood is the “oily build-up” on wood.” Lol!!! And I love your videos because you teach us history also. Colonial period stuff is my favorite. I’m trying to learn as much from you as I can to keep me from buying the junk.
I just got a set of flatware from the 1950's with pink pearly looking handles that I think are bakelite. I actually bought it after seeing one of your videos where you said not to clean silver plated items too frequently, I was using my great grandmothers good silverware in my kitchen daily, until I learned I was probably damaging it.

My mother’s (1915) Aunt (1900ish) had those green colonial dishes. My mother loved them and was given a small set in the 1950s and continued collecting pieces through the 70s. I assume her aunt’s were from the 20s from your time table. My daughter always loved them and I gave her my mother’s pieces, her aunt’s pieces (her grand daughters didn’t want them until After my mother bought them from her estate sale!) and a few others like a 3 tiered dish that I found in second hand stores. My daughter says that people always comment on how pretty they are in her 1976 style colonial house.
