I also edited in commentary of my own in places, in addition to relevant external information that improves the viewing experience. A lot of edits were made for comedy purposes, or to enhance the comedic timing of certain beats, but never to misrepresent Hasan's point of view.

I'm studying music therapy. I remember one of my profs once saying something to the effect of "one day you'll reach a point where you can't listen to music casually without thinking about the potential therapeutic use of every song. sometimes you gotta make a quick note and move on. but sometimes you need to say, 'fuck you, I'm listening to music and I'm not going to let this bleed into my job' and don't feel bad about it". I agree but there is no way Pokimane or any other female creator hasn't found ways to deal with it. I dont think harassment has anything to do with her or other creators quitting. I think some of them are burnt out and some of them just dont like not being liked. Hasan is a prime example of the latter. He seems borderline depressed since he started getting criticism for some of his Gaza takes that had an effect in his viewership.

LOL... I'm a middle-aged physician, and it's hard for me to take any of this seriously. They are describing burnout. Every job, no matter how much fun it is initially, eventually becomes a chore - or at least certain aspects of it becomes a chore. It's human nature. You have to know when to take a break and just reset. You also have to know what your limits are. Hasan is very smart to not want additional growth and become a manager. When you feel as if you're burning out, take time off - as much as you need and can afford. It's amazing what taking time off does to one's perceptions, motivation, and attitude. At least half of these guys will be back eventually.

After all that they gain sponsorships & ad deals & maybe they get into merch or they get into making music & become artist. I think the "I like my job (labor) but I hate managing" aspect is something that socialists should take seriously. This is a contradiction that I've noticed even in my own life. I love the work of actually programming, seeing everything come together, etc etc. I hate meetings, I hate coordinating with clients. My boss is constantly slammed with wall to wall meetings that he barely gets to write code anymore, he's got all these different things he has to worry about. It sounds awful. But if we want worker ownership of the means of production, this is what that entails. How do we get workers to be willing managers? It's a serious question that socialist countries are struggling with. And it usually results in the old managerial structure remaining largely intact because the work force just isn't ready to replace them. CEOs may be redundant but managing is a genuinely important skill/position

I'm a Black, Native, queer, female content creator who advocates for Progress and social justice and I discuss many of the same issues Hasan does. I'm slammed with sexism and racism for my takes *all the time*. My first few weeks streaming I was called the n- word every day, by 5 different accounts a day for just existing. Based on my research, most were individual different accounts, not alts. Fast forward, 5 yrs later on Twitch, and I'm called "trxnny" and "a man" at least once a week. Yet I'm female, I look female. I'll literally just be playing a game and say "gg" and slurs are hurled at me. My block list is POPPING.
Just the other day I got a hate raid from another streamer and when I told other streamers about it in my network, several didn't care. You might be thinking to yourself, "well I'm not part of the problem, I don't harass streamers," but are you part of the solution? During the hate raid no mods stepped in, no vips stepped in, no one said anything, no one defended me, no one consoled me, etc. People didn't even want to report the users until days later when asking me about it in my dms, but not live. It takes sereve prompting to get my chat to stand up for me.
That's what you can do as a viewer, when you see something happening, say something and back your creator. When things are going well, point this out to the creator by showing hype and support in chat/comments. Tell us. Tell us you support us. We don't know unless you tell US! In a sea of hate and struggling to pay bills (other creators, not Hasan), a simple "thank you for streaming" or "this stream is awesome, I like..." is the difference between your creator being around for years and quitting when you think it's just getting good. It really is -- if you're poor like most streamers. Free chat support is the LEAST people can do.

To a already wealthy Entrepreneur, cutting down on work could mean becoming a less virtuos, less diligent or even a more lazy person over all. I also understand that maybe some creators do put in extra overtime & do work on Christmas, but people with regular jobs do the same thing all the time too if not on a different level bc if they don’t they lose out on hourly wages or fall behind on deadlines. Everyone saying that these people should just slow down a little are missing the fact that the mindset that you need to succeed in content creation is entirely antithetical to slowing down. To get a channel off the ground these guys need to throw their entire lives into it, think about it 24/7 and consistently produce content. The more you work the better your chance of succeeding. It's hard to decide a few years into that when you're successful to just change your entire mentality.

So if I understand this correctly, in order to avoid creative burnout is to avoid "growth", in that, every subsequent project or creative practice must contribute to increasing the flow of capital rather than staying firm to what you enjoy despite the potential to make even more money from it via expanding your duties, and labor?

The problem is "constantly making video". Even the lamest stuff takes surprising amounts of time. If you pay someone else to edit, now the pressure on you to perform without any misses is increased. Its like if you not only had to go to work at McDonald's every day of the week for a decade, they could also decide to randomly not pay you for the work you've already done
