I also edited in commentary of my own in places, in addition to relevant external information that improves the viewing experience. A lot of edits were made for comedy purposes, or to enhance the comedic timing of certain beats, but never to misrepresent Hasan's point of view.

My grandpa got dvt and later cancer from being around agent orange in Vietnam. My grandma was denied benefits for like two years because they denied agent orange was the cause. And it’s really nothing compared to what the Vietnamese people have dealt with due to the use of agent orange. Add in the phoenix program, and I just want to punch the first man in uniform I see.
My other grandpa was a pow in Korea and never talked about it, struggled immensely with alcoholism for obvious reasons.
Basically scarred my family and millions of others in America and the countries we unjustifiably attacked to make sure they didn’t have sovereignty. Can’t imagine learning about this with the victims of these atrocities.

I guess they don't explain it. The shirt with the white thingies is an argentinian symbol from Madres de Plaza de Mayo. Their children were kidnapped during the last dictatorship, most of them had no political identity at all until that point (neither their children), and they silently marched in circles for hours in front of our version of the white house every day for months. The movement had a division between those who felt they had to carry their children's fight and those who felt their was a different fight now that the people in charge died in jail. It's a pretty interesting thing if you want to look it up, no clue why the aussies are wearing it tho.

prior Army HasanabiHead here. yeah my life was ruined by the Army XD i was none combat mos ( LPN) and never went over seas and yet my body has been broken beyond repair as I was an instruction for mas casualty drills, combat medic competitions, advanced trauma and other things and while in training i overtrained come down with a condition that tore my muscles apart and now has arthritis in multiple places as well as joint conditions and tendinitis. all of these diagnosed by the time i was 24. was homesless 3 times within 5 years of getting out because i couldn't work very well obviously. only now at 29 years old am i finding my peace in life.
and this is why i watch Hasan, there is a difference between being anti military, and being anti troop. many of us are poor, lack of options, upsold with promises of a career, education and what not. i knew what i was getting into being a military kid but being raised in the environment you're mental is that of " all the bad shit is okay" Hasan understands that the troops are often people who have little to no other options and the government capitalizes on them.

I mean sure, but how can you expect any victims of us imperialism to like the troops. Like imagine telling an Iraqi child " I played a part in invading your country and killing millions of your people because I wanted to pay for school."
Its disgusting and tone deaf, if your willing to sell out and kill people in the global south to better your own position, you don't deserve any sympathy. You might say " well i was none combat" , you still play a part in the us army directly.
Whether your a mechanic who helps repair planes and vehicles used for bombing children, or a medic who helps heal us soldiers to get them back on the battlefield. Your still contributing either way.

IE i went to the gym one night, did back and bi and next mornings Army training was a ruck march, that's what caused my condition.

I got insulted at an ice hockey game because I wanted to pay for my Hot Dog and was too concentrated because I don’t know the money and had troubles understanding the dude with the noise that I didn’t immediately realize people started singing the national anthem. It’s such a weird concept. Why would you be proud to be part of a country that fucked up and fucks up millions or perhaps billions both in their own and other countries. i will say, the boring influencer bit in the first part. is very accurate to the majority of military time at the moment. motor pool, boring repetative busy work. and yeah most everyone doesn't know wtf they are doing, my friend joined the army as a surgical tech and his first duty station was literally to check weapons in from the range..... i worked in a hospital ( LPN) but he got shit detail. it's a dice roll. and as he said at the start a requirement to join is being poor, hence most the peoepl you ask why they joined, is travel and education.

You don't have to wait to be a victim of a crime yourself to agree with the victim on the nature of the people (and organisation) that did them wrong. More people in general should think in this based way (a bit of this was seen during the antiwar movement). It would help isolate the military culture and it's worship.
