MLK handwrote the Letter From Birmingham Jail in a dark jail cell, writing in the margins of a daily newspaper which announced that the local white Christian pastors he'd been reaching out to in Birmingham, they condemned him over the fake police announcement of his arrest for made-up charges.
Later he wrote a book about the experience in that city "Stride Toward Freedom" and the audio is his real voice narrating an audiobook version of his book.
Most memorably he wrote "I have nearly reached the regrettable conclusion that the greatest stumbling block in the negro's stride toward freedom is not the White Citizens Councilor or Ku Klux Klanner, but the White Liberal."

That's literally me. Like, there was a video on a different channel, and even tho I was certain that this was from last night, I was like, I'll check the stream first, cuz I haven't seen Hasan reactions upload it, and now that they have, I'm here without checking the stream, cuz they upload stuff before the next stream. Also, here the video is more than an hour, and the other one I saw was about 30 minutes, so I'm really glad that I decided not to watch it on a different channel.
This is literally the best fan channel. And not only when talking about Hasan fan channels, but as a whole.

Regarding the reform aspect: I definitely agree. However, it may be hard to find the right support system/community that is more forgiving and patient. I'm not sure if that exists right now. And it's so easy to fall back into their old ways of thinking. There are individuals but groups are more fraught. That does go back to Hasan's point about people who are actually interested in learning will push through and have to patient as well (not his exact words obvs). From that Jubilee episode and Shapiro interview, I'm pretty sure Destiny doesn't have a compass, even his fey liberalism seems like a veneer with no real ideology or thought. Except for maybe the contrarianism. He seems like Tim Pool to me.
October 7th made me realize that liberalism as it operates now is more of a team sport with a general belief system.
Sure it gets exhausting to tell people Who don’t believe you have a right to exist that you have a right to exist. But the white nationalists have that patience to convince you to believe what they believe. It’s all about knowing what battles to choose knowing who is set in their ways and who is actually just misinformed and listening to propaganda.

I found out within a few hours because there was a Second Thought video on my feed on YT, so when I switched over, I couldn't find any of his content. After googling and finding the reason on a Reddit page (terrible arguments there-so offensive), I immediately unsubscribed. So yeah, I've been off the platform since October.
He's on MeansTV now. A much better platform by comparison.

That's not "defeatist" approach Hasan. If you know your enemies and liberals are among them, you'll have more chance to win the war and carry the revolution to victory (I'm assuming you're a revolutionary socialist). According to your logic Lenin was a defeatist too then, because he declared the liberals also the enemy.

Hasan doesn't see revolution as realistic, so he's playing the long game trying to prepare future generations for it.
I also don't really see it as realistic (for the US specifically) but I still think we should advocate for it. You never know when the contradictions reach a breaking point. They say everything seems impossible until it happens.

@@tankiegoku Hasan on various lefty podcasts well as sometimes in his streams and interviews defends reformist stance, which means a gradual transition towards a socialist society. But that doesn't mean he is against a revolution, he understandably thinks a revolution is extremely unlikely in a world of capitalist hegemony, let alone the US.
I myself also think revolution today is risky and in some cases dangerous, but I do think that so long there is enough class consciousness, of capitalism being an obsolete system, it might be a good option. After all Liberal and Mercantilist ideals grew for centuries before culminating in the French bourgeois revolution.

I am not a neo liberal, but i do believe that violence, always generates counter-violence. I know its easy for me to say that aggressively protesting is not the right way (privileged in almost every aspect of life), but change takes time, thats always been the case. You cant expect people to change their opinion on important questions, just because of facts, statistics or what ever, even when they are well founded. People tend to confuse their opinions with their ego and feel personaly attacked when someone comes by and tries to convince them of something. That applies to everyone, doesn't matter which political views they hold. Its a very hard learning to decouple your self worth from the opinions you hold, but a very important step for us as a society. Also you have to keep in mind, its something every generation has to learn again for themselves, so our society is bound to evolve in waves. It enables us to listen instead of continuously repeating the same points. I know we have to start somewhere, but hatefully demanding rights or going to war wont ever bear healthy long-term change, it just will radicalize people that would otherwise listen. People aren't inherently hateful.

my mind was changed by hasan, funny enough though, I always felt there was something wrong with liberals and conservatives, i was a giant centrist, it was only after watching hasan for many months that i realised it was the structures and the inherent contradictions of capitalism that was creating my suspicions for either side, the solution was never in liberalism. People's minds can be changed, but i wonder how it happens for others, i already had a feeling something was off, it took me time to realise it was systemic, and shake away the capitalist dogma and american exceptionalism.
For me I started out very conservative as a kid and teen then gradually started calling myself leftist socially and right wing economically. A good example is anytime someone calls him a Zionist. People like Second Thought are the ones to watch out for. If you grow up learning absolutism as a the valid way to see the world, whether it's left or right, you will never have the necessary amount of support and ability to enact change.
You essentially sound like the religious right calling you fallen sinners and that you need to repent; lest you face divine punishment. In Second Thought's heaven, it's the state that will cast you into the lake of fire.
That's why JT's use of patronizing and dehumanizing language towards those that just live their lives in the system will lead to his irrelevance. People do not like to be chastised or preached to if they are struggling much more than he is.
Second Thought is referring to people who pretend to have leftist views but will be vocal against any radical actions to push for change, essentially they want to be perceived as progressives while they put all of their efforts into maintaining the status quo, progressives in principal, conservatives in practice.
Cutting to Bernie while giving examples of a liberal immediately killed the video for me.

He did not believe in Kamikaze politics or personality cult politics. MLK did not view politicians as people we had to like or agree with 100%. He viewed politicians and political parties as tools.
