Marky ain't lying, that's super, SUPER fucking hard to do for an extended period of time. 99% of drummers will use both sticks on the hi-hat to do what Marky and Tommy did with one. It doesn't look or sound so tough here, but it's torture after a about 30 seconds, especially coming back from fills or cymbal hits. Those guys are legends and they earned it.
I have endless discussions with musicians that keep saying that Ramones is easy to play, and is crap music, and that is this and that is that.I would like to see those conservatorium kids who can play really dificult classic parts, playing one Ramone song ( but then at the age of 48) Long live the Ramones and thank you for the music.
finally someone (the great Marc Bell himself :D) tells the truth about the fact the ramones songs are actually hard to do...but then I suppose that's the sign of true genius (that you make something difficult look easy)...and the downstrokes thing, yeah, feels like my wrist is gonna come apart after a while of doing that...these guys were talented and skilled, no doubt about it...
Joey smelled the big money and was into the money game investing in stocks absolutely unwilling to share the teeshirt profits with Richie Ramone, even Richie was a member for 5 years already.
PT-boat on the way to Havana I used to make a living, man Pickin' the banana. Now I'm a guide for the CIA Hooray for the USA! Baby, baby, make me a loco Baby, baby, make me a mambo Sent to spy on a Cuban talent show First stop- Havana au go-go I used to make a living, man Pickin' the banana Hooray for Havana!
These guys have such a good sense of humor too...Marky: 5:26..."if you can get that Juilliard graduate to do that, he would get tired...and say, 'What the fuck are they doing, How do they do this??'..."...Ahh shit..lmao.. I totally lost it lauging my ass off when Joey said "I don't know if I respect him...." (Regarding Springsteen)...lol. These guys are funny.. Especially Dee Dee.
@GSTchecque Im playing the ramones on drums, and really you need to be in perfect condition :D,and after couple of songs I can take a shower with my swet :D xD
Saying the heavy metal drummers cant do that? Has he ever heard of a blast beat, it's the same wrist motion as he's doing on the cymbals, but Metal drummers do it with both hands, for the cymbals and snare.
There's a video (audio only) here on RUclips of a show with "Elvis". Check it out. Most drummers aren't given the credit they deserve for the job they do. Hidden in the background. But he couldn't keep up. I'm not blaming him. I certainly couldn't do it for 5 minutes. Clem Burke compared to "musicians" today (A.I. winners and Rappers) is like John Bonham or Jimi Hendrix on drums. It's pathetic.
Two thoughts: 1) Someone had a massive "brain fart" when they thought it was a good idea to replace Richie Ramone with a drummer from Blondie---ALL WRONG for that band! 2) ":Little" Steve Van Zandt from the E Street Band seems to think of himself as some kind of liaison between the "corporate" rock of Springsteen and the Metal/Punk/Underground world--he tried to convince Eddie Trunk, a Metal radio host, to see a Springsteen show and he was not impressed to say the least!
He actually is full of it yes it takes stamina to play that way but any seasoned punk musician can play that shit.. And im a guitar player btw... My drummer rips that dude... And if i got to downstroke the whole time in the songs i write or we play, it would be lame... Cool for them ya know but itd be lame.. Their music was as simple as it gets straight up but kudos to them they did their thing and i like them.. If u think im bs goto my page and peep my band

What a professional drummer! he is so illustrative, too, the way he explains his technique.
Great !
You can tell how hard Marky worked at that "Live In Germany" show The Ramones played. Marky was working his ass off.
bruh Marky Ramone has the THICKEST Brooklyn accent ever
awesome, never get tired of listen to this guys...Ramones forever!!
Marky is awesome.
I saw the Ramones with all three drummers. Marky, Ritchie, and Clem Burke who I saw at the Living in Providence, Rhode Island.
What are your thoughts on the shows?

This is this funniest (Marky's at Maya'a repair shop) I have ever seen. It's like a Saturday Night Live script!
I seen Buddy Rich one time and love drums but one of the things that stand out with the Ramones is their beat, it's wild and untouchable!
It's great that Marky has respect for the B-9....
Ramones 4 ever!
yeah he was from Queen's NY...pretty alien
I remember in the VH1 version they talked about acting in RNRHS
And now you can Major in downstrokes at Julliard

Say what you Wanna Say But without The Ramones we have pop music shit and its awful music is awful without The Ramones
actually, i think the begining was Ritchie, not Elvis.
what he said kind of true

Blast Beats are majorly a punk thing. As most subgenres of metal after the Ramones are influenced by punk
marky el mejor de todos!!
vamos los ramones carajoo!!

Astonishing!! ..that Elvis Ramone (Clem Burke) "couldn't keep up"???
Burke is the greatest!!
is that marky now?
