It became one of the band’s most successful radio hits and was a staple of their concerts during the 90s.

Well Johnny Ramone thought different, dude was a douche in the later years.
I have loved the Ramones from the time that the band formed. I could hear and feel something new coming to the world. I’m 62 now, I’m an old black punk and proud of it despite the rarity in our ranks. I bought my first Ramones t shirt today.... I’m stoned and sorry that we lost such talent.💜

Growing up as a teen in the early 70's, the Ramones were always my first choice for music when we were partying/having a great time. I had no idea so many of the members of the band had passed away. Now I have more tears to shed when I listen to these songs.

No one talks about this, but Stephen King wanted The Ramones attached to the movie. In the novel Pet Semetary there are multiple references to Ramones songs like Blitzkrieg Bop and Sheena Is A Punk Rocker.
King, a huge Ramones fan, invited the Ramones to his Bangor, Maine home as they played in New England. During the visit, he handed Dee Dee Ramone a copy of his Pet Sematary novel, and the bassist retreated to the basement. One hour later, Dee Dee returned with the lyrics to "Pet Sematary".
Just so you know how it actually happened. Dee Dee was contemplating a hip hop career solo... but Pet Sematary hit and became the Ramones biggest chart topper. And it was written in Stephen King's basement, after Dee Dee read the book.

I grew up in NJ, and back in the day Ramones would play at least once a month at City Gardens in Trenton, NJ or at CBGB in NYC. I'm grateful and fortunate that I got to see them perform 17 times in total. Thanks, guys for being a HUGE part of my teenage years and beyond. I'm 54 now and yeah, I'm still listening to Ramones. I miss you guys.

That’s awesome you got to see them. R.I.P. indeed. 💐
That's effin awesome
That's how I feel about the misfits and a now closed venue called Alrosa villa. Alrosa villa was where dimebag Darrell was shot and killed along with other people by a gunman. My brothers friend Granvilles mom was a groupie for the misfits way back. Yes she was hot. Dark hair and petite. We didn't believe her until she got us all backstage with them. I got a misfits tattoo my ex gf paid for and I wrestled Jerry only drunk and he got me in a headlock. I still have an old copy of the photo where he has me in a headlock. I wish I could've seen the Ramones too
You were really lucky. If I was there in those years, I wouldn't miss any of their concert too!!

I've seen The Ramones play well over 30 times from 1984 until the mid-90s. While living in NYC, I ran into each of them at different times. I devoted an entire chapter to The Ramones in my book, New York City Junky Days.
You were living the life I wanted. I was stuck in Dayton. Wish I could time travel back to NYC to see The Ramones. And Patti Smith❤️.I did see Lou Reed every time he came to town, followed Iggy Pop around when he was touring the Agoras all over Ohio. Bowie was playing keyboards. I miss my groupie days and am sorry I never made it to NYC back then. Of course, if I had, I probably wouldn’t be here to make this comment.

Strange seeing them walking over the graveyard, knowing they are all dead .... Makes me realize my own mortality...
Yeah, it is really sad. Marky was in this video and he is still alive, but the other 3 and Tommy, the originals, are all gone. Such an amazing band. Other than the Beatles, you could argue that they are perhaps the most influential band on young, future musicians. I say that in the sense that they proved you don't have to be a virtuoso in order to write good songs. This is especially the case with Johnny and young guitar players. It is so funny I spent the last 20 something years playing scales...sometimes spending weeks to learn certain instrumental songs.. Yet, all of these years later, I rarely play stuff like that anymore. But I still play Ramone songs and Ramone-like songs until my left hand hurts (I play lefthanded hehe). Their songs are timeless. A good song is a good song. I don't care who performed it or how difficult it is to play. I wish that I had this attitude back when I was 12 or 13. hehe

@@rachelkordas9671 “tame them?” What you really mean (I’m guessing?) is that wolves are too bright and independent to come under the submission of a human. I think you could do it if you got a baby wolf straight from birth? But if they’re 1 year old, or even 3 months old, it may be too late at that point? Ya know? I don't want to be buried in a pet cemetery
I don't want to live my life again
Follow Victor to the sacred place
This ain't a dream, I can't escape
Molars and fangs, the clicking of bones
Spirits moaning among the tombstones
And the night, when the moon is bright
Someone cries, something ain't right
I don't want to be buried in a pet cemetery
I don't want to live my life again
I don't want to be buried in a pet cemetery
I don't want to live my life again
The moon is full, the air is still
All of the sudden I feel a chain
Victor is grinning, flesh is rotting away
Skeletons dance, I curse this day
And the night when the wolves cry out
Listen close and you can hear me shout
I don't want to be buried in a pet cemetery
I don't want to live my life again
I don't want to be buried in a pet cemetery
I don't want to live my life again, oh, no, oh, no
I don't want to live my life, not again, oh, no, oh, oh

Great work. But doesn't he feel a chill? Not a chain, right?
Ramones should be in the Hall of Fame , right On Top of the List.
They are. First punk band inducted
Hall of shame 🖕🏼
It’s not a proper Ramones song unless it includes the words “I wanna” or “I don’t wanna”
Damn, you are right😮

Or 1,2,3,4.

I read the Pet Sematary book because of this song.
I watched "Pet Sematary 2" (the movie) about 22 years ago when I was 13. I remember to see the actor Edward Furlong in that film.
Me too
That book messed me up bro.
@@oasis6342 what did you expect from a Stephen King book?
@@notanicenamebutlovesrockan9265 as a contestant king reader i was expecting it to hit hard, also everyone told me that it's a hard book, but oh man, that book toped every expectation. The saddest book and most darkest book i have ever read by Stephen king or anyone else, king is a master of horror and connects to the deepest fear a man can have. But yes man, i should have known better, but there is no way to be "ready" for this book.
P.s Stephen king can write uplifting stories too. Sometimes..😏

Same here! I just found three new Ramones videos. The calendar says it's Halloween, but it feels more like Christmas!

I have loved this band since back in the day in High School. Times passes but the love was always there. Then Joey passed and I didn't listen that much anymore as I would always cry listening to them. Years pass and now I listen to them all the time and I celebrate how great the Ramones are. Rest in peace guys. You will always live in a big piece if my heart and soul.
Are all 4 members Ramones? They are all passed?

In the Pet Sematary novel Louis Creed often thinks "hey-ho lets go" before doing something reckless
At those parts it was obvious that he is losing his mind, heartbreaking.
It is from Blitzkrieg Bop yeah?

The best Punk Rock bands yesterday, today, tomorrow, and for another million years
Many critics not think this way.
Ramones is TOTAL CLASSIC! ...
I remember seeing Pet Semetary in the theatre and the people stopped leaving to listen to the song...!
The dislikers were buried in the Pet Sematary and come back with no musical taste. That's one of the side effects for bringing someone back from the dead. Sometimes dead is better.
Dead is awesome but why are we suddenly talking about Mayhem? These two bands have little in common beside being unbelievably great imho.
@@anyafort5869 Huh? I have a feeling that you responded to the wrong comment by mistake. I did not mention anything about Mayhem.
Nevermind injoke.
@@anyafort5869 Well, never heard of the band Mayhem. That's why I did not get the joke. I researched them and there is a band member called DEAD? lol If I knew that, I would have gotten the joke.

Who the hell is this Victor character?
@@Hayotowin Victor Creed, from the movie.
This is such a fun song. Better than anything today.
The movie was scary when I was younger now it's not anymore, the credits was cool pet cemetery 1989.
R.I.P RAMONES punk rock lives on.
That was the thing with most horror movies from King's books. They scared children sh.tless and most adults thought they were lame. When i was a kid riding my bike home from football training i passed a store everytime where they had a pennywise poster from "it" hanging on a wall outside. This poster almost traumatized me. Then years later i watched the movie when it was on tv at night and to me it was just boring.
This song will be played at my funeral.
If they don't play this at my funeral I'm not going..
@@Mk156 LOL!
19 years today without Dee Dee. We miss you every day buddy, just wonderful lyrics R.I.P.
he was the ground-zero of punk rock, seriously.
One of the greatest horror movies ever. Stephen King himself requested this song, and The Ramones was game and up for it in 1989.
Love this song. The minor chords give this track a different feel from the earlier Major chord tracks, 'Sedated' 'Blitzkrieg Bop' etc. Great to see the band explore new territory whilst retaining their essence.
Now they are all gone. Its so sad.
My respect and salute to The Ramones. 🙏
R.I.P.
I can't believe how good this song is, I've loved it for like more than three decades.
Hard to believe these guys have all passed. They weren't that old. An excellent example of how the result can be more than the sum of its parts.
RIP Ramones - heaven rocks!
Marky Ramone (the drummer at the time and in the video) is still alive. But yeah RIP Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee and Tommy
Not that old, but they did live the punk life

RIP the Ramones. Iconic punk.
Best punk band, imo.
One of the best songs ever written. Ever.
The Ramons are probably the only band that I wouldn’t mind going and watching in concert. Even if they are Holograms.
Oh no....never holograms.
I saw them during their last tour, it was one of the greatest concerts I've seen in my life.
I would pay to see Ozzy with a Randy hologram
This was the first Ramones song I listened to and it's still my favourite song to this day.
One of the best songs of all time , I would easily include it in the top 20 of all time.
Some rap hip hop loving nerd probably nominated it.
This gives me such nostalgic October Halloween vibes! I remember when there was magic in the air when I was a kid in the 80's and 90's. Now, everything's digital, everybody's fake and the holidays just aren't the same anymore. It doesn't even snow where I'm at anymore, lol...

I've been so obsessed with this song lately. Very happy I came back to it.
la mejor banda🎤🎧❤️😃
After years of studying music theory and trying to come up with awesome lead guitar parts and complex chord structures, I have finally realized that sometimes less is better.
The Ramones with their 2 note power chords and one note lead guitar solos just rock big time.
I'm hooked and learning all of their songs as we speak.

These lyrics are so symbolic. Its just like thinking of life before life and everything dead he brings up in the song is like some sort of remnant. He doesn't want to live his life again because it's too haunting.
Masha Linehan (the founder of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) used to tell suicidal patients that some cultures believe that, if you commit suicide, you have to live the same life again. She said that was effective at deterring suicide.
