I JUST read that it was written while Joey recovered from burns received in a humidifier accident. I wasn't there, so not sure.
Error, the song was written by Joey in London, at Christmas, everything in the city was closed because it was Christmas, and they had nothing to do, bored in the hotel room, and with jetlag.
Without being able to sleep due to the time change and with nothing to do in the city, I just wanted to return, I was in the room with DeeDee watching movies, the canyons of Navarone

First heard this in burnout 3 and loved it, years later my father introduced me to punk and played a lot of Ramones, but never this song, the only song I recognize. Thinking about my dad and what he would've played and this came up and it just brought me back. Crazy how music can do that

@@kt9166 It takes some time, but it's easy enough once you get it down (unless you're gonna go for 1977 - 1979 live speed.) It *does* take muscle, and that's easy to lose if you stop. And you definitely need the guitar to be strapped low for your strumming arm and at an angle for your fretting arm, or it'll never work out.
And doggone it, they didn't play *"power chords,"* they were into barre chords that were only strummed downwards. Though I did hear of background guitars in the later album versions of songs, I haven't checked that out.
The fact this song came out in the 70s blows my mind.
As a child (14 in 1970) of that generation I am constantly surprised at the music I grew up with is being rediscovered, albeit mainly through commercials. Still, it introduces a new generation to the greatness of the music of the past.
