Saw them back in '77 here in Texas, they played at Liberty Hall which was a venue from '71-'78. I remember my dad took my buddies and I to go see them, and it was one of the greatest bands I ever saw live. Long live the Ramones!!
The ramones ARE, and always WILL be the best band EVER. These guys were way ahead of their time. They left other so-called big punk bands for dead. I miss them so bad. RIP RAMONES 🙏
1:27 "They....met us." Best response ever by Joey, answering that dim-witted host's comment about how The Ramones "met" The Pistols. Anyone who thinks Joey wasn't sharp just needs to see this.
Stephen King used Dee Dee Ramones name as an alias to sign into hotels and the Ramones took the name from Paul Mcartneys alias Paul Ramone which he used to sign into hotels under. Mad😂
in the late 70's in my pre teen years i discovered THE RAMONES, SEX PISTOLS and DEVO at all roughly the same time. it changed my life. id' say IGGY was probably the godfather of punk but THE RAMONES truly overall had the biggest influence on the genre. they never made a bad album. i also got to see them live in 1990 it was incredible. very grateful i got to see them before the 3 members died. i also think they had a huge influence on alot of non hair metal bands in the 80's (METALLICA, ANTHRAX, SLAYER, EXODUS, etc.). especially with JOHNNY's furious down picking style. very innovative for its time.
Yeah, Hilly Kristal sold the rights to the movie around that time, and all of the original bands were supposed to play themselves in the movie, then the studio went out of business. (I think it was with Hemdale.) So the project sat in development hell for 25 years until 2013. By then all of the original acts were either too old or too dead to play themselves.
And then they foisted some slop upon the world that probably left most ppl with a lesser image of the whole scene. Movies on music and scenes certainly aren't easy to pull off, but CBGB the movie may actually go down as visceral damage to the human race.
Not many bands have "best of" compilations that are as legendary as Ramones Mania, but it truly has stood the test of time and is iconic. Great to see them promote it here. Like Type O Negative's "The Least Worst Of", it is legitimately essential and of interest because it too has some cool extra stuff and mixes (and cool artwork!). God bless two of New York's greatest bands... Type O Negative and Ramones.
I also love how our Ramones were never afraid to take credit. They'll never know how loved they were (are) but they knew they were important to ("rock") music they were.
i really miss those four cool m.c. leather jacket guys very much, RiP bro's! God bless the original drummer who is still kick'n & the other two drummers including the young bro'r who is still do'n his thing on the bass guitar! their music, films & what ever we can captivate on yOuTuBe WILL NEVER DIE!
@@opaljk4835 hysteria refers to a hypothetical neurotic and psychopathological condition. MIADO ROUCO RECORDS I was just saying he was funny! Lol, sorry. I just think he’s a really really funny dude. He obviously had a lot of problems and darkness he was battling
My Dad says to me "Brendan, can you not give a straight answer?" Dee Dee loved being silly for his own entertainment (just turns out, it entertained us too).
Back then because of alcoholism issues it seemed like Marky was the first one to go. He ultimately outlived Dee Dee, Joey and Johnny. R.I.P you guys, miss you every single day.
+Cara Cavota You must have watched a lot of early Ramones interviews! In the 70's, Johnny and Tommy tried to do all of the talking. They didn't like Joey and Dee Dee representing the band b/c they thought they fit into some negative stereotypes about the band. This was easy enough to enforce b/c Joey had shyness issues. But this is '88. Joey was a fairly big star, and had become a fairly confidant interview subject. He was way more chatty than Johnny or Marky in the second half of the band's career. It's not like he took orders from Johnny anymore, as the two really disliked each other by this point.
Aline Ramone I’m a diehard Ramones fan but the pistols were better. They were more punk and their only album was flawless. The Ramones were more influential because of their music and look but the pistols music was dope and they completely embodied the punk persona. Dee Dee was the only true punk.
Could be because Marky had just recently re-joined the band after about five years out, he's probably playing it as cool and safe as possible being 'new' again. In later years he became a more open band spokesman.

Yeah but the manufactured boy band released an album that has made its mark in the history of music . As much as I am a Ramones fan I can't recall any albums from them that are truly punk musically..👍
Dee Dee's just got such a good spirit about him. Such a genuine warm presence
@sabbracadabra and Johnn....aahh who am I kidding
Johnny, not so much.
I think this is one of the most lighthearted interviews of the ramones, they are all very friendly and funny to each other, good times!
The Ramones actualy changed the world... truth!
Really??? In what way cuz no others have ..😂😂😂
I've never seen a Ramones interview where Dee Dee doesn't steal the show. Such a funny guy, doesn't even try.
"They met us"
Great interview
I want my Ramones back. :(

I was gonna say the same.
Ramones public service announcements

Joey in 1993 "i knew it"

they did talk sometimes

@Dion St. Michael Joey always answered kinda acid when the subject was the Pistols. See Conan interview and many others.
@Dion St. Michael I'm agreeing with ya guys and mentioning other videos where Joey was sharp when he wanted to. Chill dude, have a cigarette.
1988 Joey Ramone: "Michael Jackson's a little strange isn't he? I wouldn't want my kids around him!" Shit, really prescient observation!
Holy crap that's funny. I just thought Joey looked like Michael Jackson with his gloves.
And this was just a few years before MJ started to look like Joey
