I thought it was very profound about their relationship.
When Joey died, Johnny went into a deep depression for a week and didn't do anything. Afterwards, he decided he was done with music for the rest of his life.
Apparently he regretted that he didnt reconcile and say water under the bridge and thanks for being my partner as music legends together and all that. Sad sad sad
Their love for the Ramones and their business sense, outweighed their dislike for one another.

The fact that Johnny was depressed for a whole week after Joey died proves that, deep inside he had respect for Joey fun fact Joey sent a Christmas card every year to Johnny.
Where did you read about Johnny being depressed about Joey after his death? Would be curious to read more about it.

And to this very day, still the *most underrated/under appreciated band* to *ever* hit a music stage, as well.
@@why-why-whywhywhy I’d hardly call them underrated or unappreciated. They’ve sold millions of albums, been in movies and tv shows, sold untold millions of T-shirts, influenced hundreds of bands (if not thousands, including mine), and been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.

As i get older and feel like I'm losing touch with the Ramones, I always think back to when i first played the first Ramones album. This then resets my first experience listening to them. words cannot describe how this band impacted my life back then. i soon after threw away all of my albums except for my Beatle albums. gabba gabba hey!
As Joey once said when asked why he didn't cover the Beatles: "You can't mess with perfection. You can't mess with it."
I feel this… putting on those albums that made you jump as a teen, brings you back to life again.
Man…. I’ve been watching Jeff’s Misfits content for a while now and I’ve recently gotten back into the Ramones again for the first time in a while (my first favorite band as a kid) and I am stoked Jeff also has all this Ramones content I can nerd out on! Love it! 💪💥⚡️💀🤌

One issue I have when people interview industry ppl, they talk more than the guest. It's not about Pizza Jeff, but what Monte has to say about the Ramones, especially Johnny and Joey

Johnny always seemed like a very dominant personality, whereas Joey always seemed like a pretty shy and laid back type of guy. This in itself could cause issues - Johnny seeing Joey as a pushover or weak in some way, and Joey seeing Johnny as an overbearing bully. I dont want to read to much into it - but Johnny was a Nixon Republican - I can just picture Joey thinking about Johnny "Your a Nazi Baby!!!"
I am sure that added to the dynamic between them.
That was pretty much what happened with "KKK", Joey's dig at Johnny for being a republican, and for stealing his girl.

When you hear someone you truly cared about dies, even when u don't really know them, it hurt.. I was driving to work, hurd it on the radio, ohh man. DeeDee come on. Probably cried a little

It's a damn shame that a woman almost broke up one of the greatest rock bands in history. By the way, if you ever listen to Linda talk for more than 3 minutes you will have a migraine. I can literally not understand how that woman became the breaking point between Joey & Johnny.
Funny thing is, I am not sure they almost broke up because of it. In a way they seemed to effortlessly carry on despite it...

as someone who read Monte's book quite a lot as a youth, IMO what he wrote gave off the impression of absolute coldness a lot! He could've written more of what he says now in the book, if both me and the interviewer read it and inferred a lot more tension than there was between Joey and Johnny.
Yes, I found those wires to be crossed. His answers were very different in their tone/perspective from what I read in the book!
People forget Dee Dee was The Ramones as far as writing the lyrics. I put him in the Rock n Punk Hall of Fame just on his ownself. Dee's jumping around was what stood out most. And influenced other bands to be just as crazy. Like the Chili Peppers etc. Johnny had the 2min cool riff and Joey was a Nerd who was cool. Lead singers were never Nerds. Live they were theeeee Loudest ever! Marshall madness to the Max. Ramones were groundbreakers.
He was the heart and soul when it came to writing for the band...
Flo and Eddie from The Turtles were pretty nerdy, and proudly so.

I kind of know what he's talking about but I'm being on stage and being high from the energy of the people. Once I audition for America's got talent in the Sharon Osborne and two other guys as a judges. When you are on stage it is something else it's like magic.

I started playing serious guitar at the age of 12 in 1982.. By 1984 I was playing in bar bands. Had older friends from other bands that would sneak me in the back door of the local pub that most the hard rock bands played at,, it was a great time to be a up and coming musician. Although I liked the Ramones I didnt really fully grasp or understand the significance of the band.. Now that Im older and revisiting my roots,, I have a much better appreciation for what they did and stood for.. I cant even call todays crap music its sooo horribly bad.. To quote Joey Ramone,,, ""We need a healthy amount of fuck you"" in music today and its missing in my opinion.. There isnt even a music scene in my area today.. I miss the Ramones and those times..
Their brilliance was in their simplicity and their ability to grasp it.
They both loved the Ramones .. thankfully!!...and they were both irreplaceable and they both knew it... why Johnny said after Joey's death that that was the end of the Ramones.

Im only 4 min. In and already im having difficulty concentrating on what monte is saying. I understand this is an interview and questions will be asked and aknowledgment of what your guest is saying is important but sometimes one needs to let the interviewee talk without so many interjections by the interviewer the loud mhhm, right, yep, sures It take away attention from whats being said by your guests and honestly gets annoying. Im not trying to put you down but just some thoughts by a viewer. I would just be aware of those things. Because lets face it we all want to learn and get better at what we have passions for. We learn things and get better by repetition and experience. listening to feedback is ultimately important on a platform like RUclips. In order to reach more viewers one has to sometimes cater to what is being said by listening to feedback. You can't please everyone all the time and nor should anyone try. But if something is repeated being said by many ppl it may be a good idea to listen to them and try to accommodate viewers suggestions. HEY! HO! LET'S GO!!! ......Gabba Gabba hey!!

I don't think things ever got physical between Johnny & Joey, but Johnny did slap Dee Dee in the head a few times when he got pissed off at him, usually for screwing up during a live show.
