    I was wondering if you could upload a tutorial, or maybe you can give me a book/videolessons so I can get better at CATIA. It is an important software and i really want to use it at its full potential
    Loking foward to hearing from you :)

    • @antoniopezzella2174
      @antoniopezzella2174  9 лет назад +2

      +Заур Исламзаде Hi, the Xv5 module is a much better version of ISD (icem shape design) it is used and developed from the Volkswagen group.
      It is impossible to get it online, I can use it free because I am tester for xv5 developers (you can use as alternative ISD)

      Antonio Pezzella NICE) I found out a little about this module. Very impressive. Would also like to test it, and play with the forms. I was looking for but found nothing.

    Great.
    How do you obtain the separation lines for door, hood etc after the subdivision surface has been created?
    Do you use extrude and trace the line and then use offset surfaces to split or is there some other way?

    • @antoniopezzella2174
      @antoniopezzella2174  3 года назад +4

      hi, there is tons of way to do that.
      the simplest one is: you prepare your car SubD + the cutting element (also subD or anything else) and trim them together or better fillet them.
      as I said, there is many ways, you could also intersect, get curves, generate sweep and the trim/fillets. It depends on the quality/precision and flexibility you want to get.

      Hi.
      While I was making the separation lines, I encountered one problem.
      I want to perform a cut (for door) but it isn't in one plane. The separation line is both in side view and top view. (For example, the doors of sls amg)
      What I planned was drawing out the line in side view and using split and computing the intersection surface. Then draw another curve in top view using the intersection and perform another split. (Not sure whether this would work)
      Is there any better way to do this?
      Thanks!

    • @antoniopezzella2174
      @antoniopezzella2174  3 года назад +1

      @@risheekaiyar4920 i do not reccomend that way.
      you better create the cutout surface in 3D instead of curves and then intersect it with the car volume.
      You can also do this by doing a second Sub-D which has the shape of the cutout you need and intersect it to get the curves you are looking for.

    • @risheekaiyar4920
      @risheekaiyar4920 3 года назад

      @@antoniopezzella2174
      Ohh okay. Will try that.
      Thanks.
      I had one more query. All the subdivision surfaces I use symmetry feature on develop the symmetrical surface on the mirror side with the original subdivision surface on the opposite side.
      But for my car body, when I used symmetry, I got a full body (symmetry on both sides) along with my subdivision surface.
      Nevertheless I carried on with the full symmetric body and performed splits. But when I try to perform spilt on only one side of a plane (say a duct that is present only on one side of the car) , catia gets confused as to which elements to keep.
      Should have I gone with the original subdivision surface and performed splits on that or am I making some error?
      Thanks!

    what's the difference between isd and xv5 ?

    • @antoniopezzella2174
      @antoniopezzella2174  6 лет назад

      XV5 is way more advanced than ISD,
      it is constantly upgraded with new tools from VW group, also is it does not belongs to Dassault, this means there is much more flexibility into development process.
      Also, its interface is similar to Autodesk alias for better performance, ISD is an old robot.

    Is it possible to convert that model to a cat part or multiple cat parts? I prefer that kind of 3d modeling more because it's a lot faster and easier than the generative shape design. For example that is very similar to blender, but as far as i know there is no proper way to convert a mesh made in blender to a proper catia part. I recently was granted access to ICEM software but I have not yet begun to use it because I'm unsure of it. is ICEM more similar to this kind of modeling than to generative shape design?

    • @antoniopezzella2174
      @antoniopezzella2174  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Alex, I was for many years a Blender modeler, until I discovered Catia, which is in my opinion the fastest software for sketch modelling.
      if you export from blender OBJ files, you can import them in Imagine&shape.
      Icem is good to crete bezier surfaces, unfortunately with it, you cannot create any subdivision surfaces like you would do in blender.
      Try to learn Imagine&shape and afterwards combine it with GSD and so on.

    • @axel3264

      Thanks for quick response! I have to look into Imagine and shape. I'm currently working on modeling a full car hull for CFD simulations to study different aerodynamic parts like different splitter shapes and I want to be sure to get the shape of the car exactly right. I was having a bit hard time in GSD because in Catia I mostly have experience in making smaller parts and assemblies. I&S looks a lot easier way to go so thank you! Also really nice modelling work in this video!

      Hey Dude, check out T-spline for Rhinoceros3D mesh to solid. Also Power Sub-D for The foundry Modo. These plug-in's convert **Closed** mesh based models into CAD models that can then be imported into Inventor, Solidworks and so on. Good luck!!
