    Literally watching this while driving in a light snowstorm in Jersey lol and I appreciate the time that you AND the 'camera crew' put in, vid after vid, rc after rc. I've been a short time subscriber and have since purchased a couple edf's from HH (w/o using any links). I'm saving this video to use your link to purchase this f16, for sure, when I'm ready-most likely right before summer hits. You guys are awesome...keep up the great work!

    Brian, I came just to check out the plane and I ended up with a well of information that will save me from wrecking a few planes. . Luckily I dont have to fly with an eagle killing zone. I would not last two minutes in your field. You are a professional flyer hands down. Camera crew is the secret sauce to enjoying the videos without a headache.

      Thanks! We still need to revisit this beauty! Love this 80mm F-16 platform, and I feel like we could squeeze a lot more out of her now, since we've learned a lot over the last few years, especially around the area of AS3X and SAFE.

    I love the honesty you always bring. I’m the same skill level you’re at and I CAN fly stuff like this but it’s work. I like to fly relaxed and have the ability to STOL so there would be a lot of other planes I’d rather have before this one but what a BEAST she is on 6s. Thanks BRIAN,,,, your super,,, in trouble shooting also,,, I did NOT expect them to put extra connectors in that were between other connectors,,, ie the wing,,,, I rather have to connect a connector myself to a wing, then just slide it in, then have ANOTHER one hidden in the wing, as this one did,,, I thank you for showing me how these are assembled, AND that a tester can show current draw under load on a servo tester,,, I shall buy a new one also,,,, Well, the LESS connections, things in the control circuits the BETTER I SAY!!!! Less to go WRONG, FAIL!!!!! Oh, that the misses, camera crew, she is great,,,,

    This is simply a GREAT plane. Have one. No changes on setup and flies great. BUT, dont fly off grass. On takeoff the front wheel collapsed. Its a pavement only. I have just fixed it as has to replace front gear. The single screw that holds it to the retract broke and caused me a few hours work to replace. Love the scale way it flies. Amazing. Thanks for review.
    Question: u seem to have much more turn authority on the ground than mine. Did u change anything?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Год назад

      You would need to watch our Unbox, Build, and Radio Setup video and compare notes. I'm not sure how yours is setup, but ours was not setup the way we wanted it to be setup.....we got an early sample, but this particular sample had been goofed with a bunch, and we got this BEFORE the manual was printed...soooo we didn't maybe get it as good as we wanted it.
      This is one of the only planes where I didn't feel like we got it right, as a result. We do things slightly different than the factory, on most planes...mostly rates and expo, but this one we really had to stretch to make it work...and we didn't get it as RIGHT as I wanted it...it DID work, but out of box, BNF would have been pretty good over ours.
      We're about to unbox our NX10, and I wonder if this plane would be a GREAT one to debut it with??? I guess we'll have to take a bit and think that over...but thanks for planting the seed ;)

    Do you think the "Camera crew" would approve of a carrier style catapult/landing platform setup off of the back deck? Talk about a TopGun experience 😂
    It'd be like a fixed aircraft carrier that launches into the "bowl". Without hoofing it out to the road and watching for cars etc.
    I mean, it's not like you don't have the jet stock to justify something as cool as that 👍

    Brian,
    I fly a 70mm viper jet and an 80mm bae hawk. I just purchased this thunderbirds jet, I installed a spektrum 6 channel without safe. So I’m limited to either having flaperons or thrust reverse. Will this plane have to land much faster without flaps? Should I trade the reverse thrust for the flaperons? Is this jet going to be way different than those two airframes? Referring to stall speed, landing speed etc? I’m very good at flying the other two jets.

    why not just use tailerons , forget the flaperons that way you keep the amount of elevator movement you like, just use flaps but perhaps only half flaps on landing may be enough ? 5000mah seems the way to go. Gyro on tailerons and rudder ? Will the main wing not be more stable on landing if you do not have flaperons? or was it just dancing around because of the duff wing servo connection.? No doubt the next flights will reveal all !!!

  • @aerospacematt9147
    @aerospacematt9147 Год назад

    You know, if you didn’t have the roll control in the back with the “elevon” setup, that servo loss in the left wing would’ve been so much worse!

  • @bikeguy3034
    @bikeguy3034 Год назад

    Not sure if 'Taileron' is an RC term?...but IRL they are called Elevons (Elevator/Aileron) and the model also used Flaperons - so Flaps/Ailerons. :)

    • @brianbrotherson5529
      @brianbrotherson5529 Год назад

      It’s an elevon if it’s on the trailing edge of the wing, (delta wing). it’s a taileron if it’s on the tail (horizontal stabilizer) Both do pitch and roll but they have different names on different wing configurations.

    Would you take this or the 80mm Rafale?? Which is a better all around jet?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Год назад +1

      This 100% hands down. I FAR prefer the F-16 over the Rafale, BUT I'm very bias. I watched F-16's flying around Des Moines, Iowa, since there was a squadron stationed here, and I loved seeing them. They've since been shipped off to another place :(....
      As for the build quality, and overall rc amazingness - they're both good, but I think the F-16 is better, and more conventional flying plane. I enjoy flying it more. That's not to say the Rafale is a slouch, it's just different to fly...and not my cup of tea, as compared to one of my all time favorites ;)
      Hope this helps!

    I have the 70mm Thunderbird with no flaps. It lands easily in 1/2 of our 400' runway using a nose up landing. So I thought I would like a larger version. But after watching this video I am not so sure. From what I can see this 80mm does not have 'normal' flaps and it would need flaperons and / or reverse thrust in order to land on 400'.
    This 80mm seems a bit complex and I prefer simple. Then there is the $600 cost - way more expensive than my 70mm.
    I do lots of aerobatics with my 70mm - not so sure about this 80mm?

I upgraded the edf to an x fly galaxy and it is even more fun over 1 to 1 thrust to weight. Flys like a trainer hard to stall easy to land.

      We agree this tactic would work, but we want to do right by our audience, and so much of them ask for the full length.
      I think if we did short "entertainment" style videos, we'd just be copying what Horizon Hobby does - not that their stuff isn't good - IT IS - but we want to show when their planes DON'T work good too ;)
      I want to start making some shorter content, but I would have to do voice overs for the content to make it any good, since I'm always blathering about things through the whole thing. I know some find it super annoying, but others really enjoy and need the support when they're newer pilots. It's hard to get help when you're new.
