This is by far one of the most helpful informative video. It's exactly what I was looking for I'm going for my Air Brakes License in Ontario Canada next week, I've been spending hours trying to memorize everything step by step for Semi Trucks. It's taking a lot of time, I have to keep saying it out loud as I'm reading and putting the note book down pretending I'm doing the step by step as to what I would do as I'm doing it. The Governor settings Cut-out and Cut-in is one of the most difficult inspection to understand.
Good video and one I will keep on a personal playlist. I'm in AZ training now and had my Air Brake Handbook out while she went over each section of the air brake test. The only part she skipped, bc it was a school bus and not a tractor-trailer, were the testing of the trailer service and spring brakes. For those who are thinking about becoming a professional driver, do it. I'm leaving the kitchen work I've been doing for 12 yrs bc there is very little growth, its virtually a dead end job, and kitchen work makes it difficult to provide for your family efficiently. I also acquired heavy equipment tickets prior, but added the AZ training to vastly expand possible opportunities. I cannot wait to complete my training, but it all comes down to the road test and air brake practical.
This is a perfect demonstration of someone who's been given a basic idea of air brakes, but really doesn't understand the system, or how the test should be conducted.
@@joshuadaly957 My instructors certification for the TTSAO and OSL, 20+ years as a trainer, 30+ years as a commercial operator, and a few other certifications says you're wrong.
I don't think much of the negative comments because this is a pre-trip inspection, not a full DOT. Yes I know there are different standards for a 3 tank and a 5 tank air system but drivers don't know the difference. Great Job on the tutorial!
After all of that don't bother picking up the kiddos because schools over / he he / but really that per trip test was a very good test you know you stuff . Great job
You were amazing .Explained everything in a nice easy to follow manner. I wish the camera man showed the fanning of the brakes for beginners visual learning .
Why did you not pump the brakes down when testing the air loss for once minute to see if the automatic application of the spring brake application was functioning properly???
Thank you for the video. Just 1 question, should we not test the emergancy break? You have to leave on neutral. Pump the breaks till the emergancy breaks activates itself after reaching 30 psi or less. Am i right?
We do this on every chassis going down the line....... Air test. Pump it up and see if it holds. The admissible leak is about 1/2 PSI in a half an hour, if I recall I do not do chassis testing.
@metrotruck in the State of California you would of had an Automatic failure. When doing the warning light test it comes on between 55 and 75 psi . You are supposed to stop stepping on the breaks the minute you see the warning light on the dashboard. You kept going . The cola test or Otherwise known ass the air break test needs to be done at 100%. No mistakes out loud.
For all you people complaining about the music. No one asked you to use this, if you don't like it then find another one. If you're going to watch it then stop complaining.
I work for a company that has quite a few trucks with air brakes, and, I have to say, I have never seen anyone do anything remotely close to this during their pre-trip, and, believe me, I have been watching, as i want to get my DZ. No looking under the truck. No draining of tanks. No measuring. This is like a days work before you even set out. I suspect 99% of drivers never do any of this after they pass the test.
Also, who is going to get out on the ground, and roll around under a truck with a measuring tape when its raining, muddy, or -40 degrees outside? I pray my test is on a dry day.
I have no problem with the music.. clearly there is people like you who can’t focus with some background music .. you also might not be able to chew bubblegum and walk at the same time .
@kirk42011 how do you figure? the vehicle has to be running for the compressor to work. which means for your build up time, gov cut-in and cut-out the vehicle has to be running. she actually would have passed. hate to inform you.
there r anticompounding devices- that prevent excess pressure on brake system-even if u press both. actually u r supposed to engage spring brake , then release service br
@jasmin347 Why is "BAKING" dangerous? Are you allowed to bake and drive at the same time? And what kind of baking is dangerous? Would baking cookies be more dangerous than muffins,or cimmamon buns? How well would a Betty Crocker easy bake oven work or would you recommend another brand of oven?
@jasonmildward34 I don't think anyone does a free test, but the lessons and test would probably be included by some school bus companies if you agree to work for one school year.
Jim Radix you do NOT have to do the tests twice. The reason probably is, is because she has the bus running the whole time. As long as the bus is running the governor will always supply air to a tank that's low on air pressure.
start and finish sentence with 'kay' lol... a few mistakes, and for those that reside outside of Ontario Canada...this doesn't apply to you..check with local regulations as I am sure they would be slightly different.
MUSIC IS TO LOUD>>> nice helpful video that FAILS for its music... I see this all the time... You dont need music. Remove it.. Its a teaching video... MUSIC FAIL!
You never told them to release their break first. Never pump your breaks with you tractor valve engaged or you will compress the breaks. Also the vehicle should be off not running.
Best air brake video I've seen! Thank you! Hope I pass tomorrow!!!

I'm going to be doing all my test soon and just wanted to thank you for posting this vid, it was very helpful.
I watch this everytime i get a new job😂
You shouldn't be driving a truck
So true i do too

Aren't spring brakes just emergency brakes

This is exactly how the test is done? Literally had to do this for my test

What a wonderful lady, she just seems so nice and video lesson is taught very well. ty
This is a video, it really helped me understand the air brakes a lot simpler! Thank you.
Scott Warwick
Actually seeing the steps helps tremendously! Reading it was a head scratcher... thanks so.much!
I agree music is too loud. Too bad because this is a great video. It helped me pass my air brake test. I wish the music was low or not there at all.
Thanks for this, this is exactly what an MTO examiner wants to hear on test day
Hi are you still here 😂
all my respect to this lovely woman
Thanks for this video. It really helps me pass my Air Brakes and be able to travel with our motorhome!

Very informative video, please don’t have back ground music, for techie videos I guess it’s not required.
Thanks once again.
Thank you so much for the lessons I learned something new on Air brakes
Why did you not pump the brakes down when testing the air loss for once minute to see if the automatic application of the spring brake application was functioning properly???
Thank you for the great help and kindness. Very generous.

William Zamora yes you are right...she missed that I believe
When you drained the air tanks do you drain until theres no more air coming out? It looked like you stopped before all the air was out of tanks.
We do this on every chassis going down the line.......
Air test. Pump it up and see if it holds.
The admissible leak is about 1/2 PSI in a half an hour, if I recall

She was nice...and done a good job to demonstrate an air system check.
I had a ham sandwich for lunch

All though the vid may be 13 years old, it help me recently pass my Z endorsement

Proper air brake test is SAFB, static, applied, fan down, build up. SAFB is industry standard. Whole practical exam should take less than 5 minutes.
According to who, you fuck? This is what is necessary for the MTO test, not fucking SAFB.
What a great video. Thank you
Nice video but the music is so loud and disturbing when I need to focus. Thanks anyway
+oussama aljamal >> Agree Music needs to go... way to loud.. That makes this a FAIL!
@@lanksterprice at least turn it down, it's drowning out the points she's making.
Who knew brakes are so complicated on school buses
john son of Morris they make it easy enough for any idiot to pass
man i love the age of information
thanks this helps to refresh me for my airbrakes course
Good video, Music too laud.
Thank you.
She trained me when I got my CZ 5 years ago...don't you dare ever start her bus without first letting the gauges fully cycle!
Lolol comment made me laugh 😅
@@mattandkatchristie2552 15 years later and I still wait for the gauges to cycle....
The last time I had a course, the teacher played loud repetitive music the whole while. Wait..
no... that's never happened....
My teacher did play background music in my training
I have no problem with the music.. clearly there is people like you who can’t focus with some background music .. you also might not be able to chew bubblegum and walk at the same time .
@dpg679 you have to messure the push rod stroke no matter what. whether it has auto slack adjusters or not.
just too good video on air brake practicals
air brake pressure is as to stall speed on an airplane, both with a warning horn, if they drop below a certain value you could potentially end up dead
derSchweiz unlike planes, trucks have a redundancy called spring brakes
Very nice presentation, if I had kids I'd want them to be in your bus :)

thank you! I didn't know in which order to bleed the tanks. Couldn't find it anywhere
When does it matter if the spring brakes are engaged or disengaged?
well done!! from Ontario
really well explained video. Thank you very much.
Thank you, very informative for a student.
Amazingly logical lady
were gonna do an air brake (DO an air brake). she did a good JOB though
Great video, but the music in the background is most annoying.
great vid!
Useful info thanks

This is a great Video, is this still the standard for today? Thanks For posting
Everything is correct. it helped me study and pass for my DZ. excellent Video!
Thank You.
Nice - very helpful - thanks....
Great video, just funny she talks about safety and she's wearing sandles to drive which is not safe.
so, you have to do some checks twice? (air leak, low pressure warning are done on two if the videos)
Jim Radix you do NOT have to do the tests twice. The reason probably is, is because she has the bus running the whole time. As long as the bus is running the governor will always supply air to a tank that's low on air pressure.
THANK YOU!!
Can those measurements and the method used to get those measurements be applied to a semi truck?
excellent job explaining!!!
thank you!
Maybe you should show how to do a cleaning test...
you should apply your spring brake before releasing your foot brake
how is the Manitoba public insurance air break test different from this one ? is this a good video to study or not??
Thanks
The engine should be shut off for everything except charging the tanks during your pre-trip.
You're not supposed to compound the brakes like that.
Spring brake should always be off when applying foot pressure.
You don't want the vehicle running when you do the low air warning, just have the ignition on and in low gear.
The haters are people who don't understand good teaching when they see them or like elevator musicians in driver's education classes.
I don’t see any spring brake pop out because of low air pressure
Thanks for the video!
start and finish sentence with 'kay' lol...
a few mistakes, and for those that reside outside of Ontario Canada...this doesn't apply to you..check with local regulations as I am sure they would be slightly different.
"Defective"
you think you could have cleaned the dust of the guages so you could see the guages a little more clearer.
How do you measure 3 PSI on that gauge??
The music is in the way of hearing it clearly.
and check ABS ore EBS system. check ABS warning lamp.
these do not have automatic slack adjusters is that why you messured it ?
MUSIC IS TO LOUD>>> nice helpful video that FAILS for its music... I see this all the time... You dont need music. Remove it.. Its a teaching video... MUSIC FAIL!
Lankster Price I enjoyed the music. Make your own video. This is hardly loud. What are you 80?
For course work like this.....KILL the music. It's Not needed.
You didn't name any of the break test....why?
You never told them to release their break first. Never pump your breaks with you tractor valve engaged or you will compress the breaks. Also the vehicle should be off not running.
great info, thanks for sharing
very helpful for me
Thanks for the video. :)
If you Want a Good School Try Commercial Driving School In Lakewood Washington at least there they teach you the right way
Yeah Mississauga!
the tests are different than those from quebec, these are simpler
my instructor didn't even show us how to measure the travel without a brake tool.
I think he might of explained how but I forgot lol.
i like this
Vehicle should be secured on level ground. Ribbet!
thank my frand....
