When there’s a smear campaign for a movie like this one before it’s even released, you can’t win. With that being said, let’s be nice to the people who enjoyed this movie. Film is subjective, folks.

Never gonna be mad at anyone’s opinion or choice because it’s theirs to make just like anyone else
BUT, this was a soulless, lifeless movie with two unlikable leads.
It completely ignored what made the original so special. Adding things to a remake to make it your own is fine if you keep the integrity of the original. This definitely didn’t accomplish that but that’s just my opinion

After months of defending the existence of this movie on many online debates, I went into this movie with an open mind taking in consideration that this is a new interpretation of the comic and not a remake of the OG movie. I also went with 0 expectations because it was clear that the studio didn’t believed in their own movie, review embargos were lifted hours after the release of the film, showing absolutely no confidence. That being said, I thought this movie was well directed, I thought it had pretty cool visuals, and I enjoyed the rated R action even though it’s very limited and finally the movie has some very cool creative kills.
My main problem with this movie comes in that first act that ruins the entire rest of the movie for me, it takes it’s time trying to build a relationship you can never get into because it doesn’t feel believable, therefore you cannot take the rest of the movie seriously and because of that it lacks an emotional payoff. I thought they had 0 chemistry together, not even once I was able to take their romance seriously, specially when they only knew each other for a few weeks or a month, I believe expecting us to actually believe their relationship it’s a insult to human intelligence. Not to be that guy, but if we compare with The OG movie, that movie showed way less of their relationship and even that felt a thousand times more believable. I thought the actors did what they could with what they had, the main actress wasn’t as terrible as I was expecting and Bill didn’t particularly stood out to me. They introduced some cool concepts regarding the villains of the movie, but they never dive into exploring those new concepts. I never had a problem with Eric’s design in the movie, I thought he looked pretty cool and they guy was huge in this. The Soundtrack was very flat in my opinion, not once I thought to myself “great song or music choice”. Overall I believe this is a watchable Bad movie if you can get pass that first act. Me personally? I think I’m never watching it again.
Anyways sorry for my long complains LOL! Great review Lee, I’m glad you enjoyed it way more than me. Keep up the great Work.🤜🏼🤛🏼

That's exactly how I felt about the movie. The relationship felt superficial and irritating, and not for a moment did I believe that was the eternal love which could sustain all the rest of the plot. It spoiled my enjoyment of the rest of the movie, which honestly was not that bad.

I saw the original, the day of its release and it automatically became my favorite movie. It still is. I don't see why they felt the need to remake it. There are plenty of Crow stories out there. That being said, I have nothing but, respect for your opinions about movies and music. My tastes run along the same lines. I saw it as well...I liked it. It failed to give us that familiar roll call of nasty bad guys that leave a mark but Danny Huston's main boss bad guy character fits well with Top Dollar and Judah Earl
    (Yeah...Judah Earl...because
The Crow:City Of Angels was also a classic)
I wish the time spent on Eric and Shelley was more dedicated to getting a glimpse of what the bad guys had going on. The first 2 Crow films made each death like a ritual but in this film its just nameless bad guys....but their deaths were cool. Eitherway...no spoilers; good film/good job 👏🏿

@@DrumdumsMovieReviews I have to agree with your review after seeing it last night. The dialogue could've used some work, but the plot and visuals were unexpectedly good. It felt more like a translation of the Divine Comedy than The Crow. But I think it's better than I expected from the trailer. The film has some weighty themes to it despite the...again...questionable dialogue choices.

I agree with you, honestly. The movie is certainly not perfect, but calling it a dumpster fire or the worst movie of the year, like 99% of people are, is just plain ridiculous. I felt the same way I thought that Eric and Shelly were well-developed characters I bought their love for each other. Bill's Crow design could've been done better it kept reminding me of Pennywise. The villains were completely underdeveloped, especially Danny Huston's character I just wished that people had given this film a chance before it's release. This movie in no way tried to be like the original and that's a good thing people overreacted when this film was announced. I'd place it right above Wicked Prayer hopefully we don't have to wait another thirty years for another Crow release and make based on one of the graphic novels next time.

People forget the first one of anything is unique mostly bc you are being introduced to a concept a new idea you fall for that shocks you. The second films usually dont hold well or the ones after bc you have expectations now.
But the modern potrayal of the charachter without trying to be Brandons crow was perfect.

I'll be seeing another "legacy" motion picture- Beetlejuice/Beetlejuice....just another oddball offering that crystalized a side-stream of society(80's-90's). GLAD U ENJOYED IT LEE! I've just learned to curb my enthusiasm of films; because of being let down or @ least experiencing the "meh factor" before. I watched the movie yesterday and surprisingly I enjoyed it way more than I thought. Exploring more the romance of Eric & Shelly and what brought them together was beautifully done. Bill Skarsgård & FKA twigs had a great chemistry together and you didn't want anything bad to happen to them. The action is very much like John Wick which for me isn't my favorite style of action. In this case, it works and the best action is the opera fight scene. The villain was fine played by Danny Huston. Wasn't a fan of music choices and I wished the main characters had different names.

I saw it on IMAX, LET me tell you something. This is probably one of the bloodiest CROW movies of this year, and the intensity goosebumps were all over my body, 8/10 20% was a very few minor problems. I almost rated this a 10.1/10, but because I was being honest and having a good mood. 80% of the film was Bill Skarsgård's Performance, Soundtrack & Action/Horror Mix. 20% was Villians are extremely stupid and the villians are the dumba$$. Lol. I had an amazing blast and when this film comes out to Blu-ray, I'm grabbing it for a affordable price that's not more than $30.

Look, I'm not a huge Crow fan. Might've seen the OG once in its entirety and I respect it. But I am a Sting fan (the wrestler, not the musician). To change Brandon Lee's iconic face paint, which has only gained more legendary status since the Stinger donned it, is insanity. An unnecessary change that automatically makes it lesser.

to me if you seperate this film apart from the classic and best one and accept it as its own entity you may sit through the ending. this movie was not well paced i wish they could have worked on that or it could have been a two hours long film rather than 115 minutes. Eric here as an avenger was weak unfortunately or should I say passive? there are some limbo scenes and the way they appeared felt like a commercial break on tv sonerine and that was another negative. yes that opera scene is great but the end scene stuck in my mind the most it was a bitter sweet mostly leaning on the bitter side though. i like this one for what it was. at least it wasn't wicked prayer bad bad. I wish this film could have been as good as city of angels I would have loved to watch it more if it was
    my ranking:
    1- The Crow (1994)
    2- The Crow Salvation
3- The Crow City Of Angels
    4- The Crow (2024)
    5- The Crow Wicked Prayer

Awful movie, Bill played a decent part, but the movies pacing was all over the place, villains are boring, not enough Bill in his kick ass crow mode. A massive disappointment for me unfortunately,
I'm a massive fan of the Crow and J O Barr did some great variations in his comics make a movie of one of them instead of doing Eric and Shelly,

Lee, it is very ridiculous for people to expect the The Crow reboot to be mostly the same as the masterpiece (1994) The Crow because the director and others involved in this reboot aimed to make a badass cool dark supernatural violent revenge action movie that stands on its own even with reusing aspects that the 1994 The Crow movie has.

Simple dynamics like Shelly is always happy and beautiful in retrospectives. That contrast of before and after. Hospital scene etc. Og is more emotional. Picture is at brightest when Shelly is on the screen. Sara is very important there. It's not just Brandon but in og cinematography and music are too splendit with the story.

I watched it recently and i think you and me more or less saw the same movie. I thought this flick was totally fine it was good it just wasnt a masterpiece like the original. The thing with the Crow is that its a simple concept the Og works so well because of the mood and gothic atmosphere and Brandons charisma. You cant replicate these things without feeling somewhat like a copy of the first so instead they just did 1oo percent there own thing. This movie is not a remake or reboot of the original Crow film other then the same 2 character names it legit has almost nothing to do with the Brandon Lee film. I think because of that though some people are going to just automatically hate it because it is totally removed from the original. This movie isnt really even an adaptation of the Comic in the sense the story here is very different from the comic itself as well. Really to me this just felt like another stand alone Crow movie that could easily have just been another stand alone sequel the Crow part 5 if you will. I do feel this movie had some cutting done and that there is probally another edit with more character background development scenes that will probally be on the bluray in the deleted scenes section.

It is ridiculous Lee that Rotten Tomatoes gives the very poorly made movie Madame Web a high score because it looks equal to a CW tv show which is embarrassing for a movie that had an 80 million dollars budget.
The Crow reboot is a badass cool dark supernatural action violent revenge that succeeds with the hero’s journey, has a memorable protagonist you are rooting for, badass action scenes, etc.

Ppl. If you watch this and try to compare it to the 94 movie, of course you will be disappointed. No one is trying to "remake" or dethrone Brandon Lee's legacy. 94 was perfect and will never be topped by any other movie. It's a retelling, not a ground up remake. That wasn't the purpose of 2024 Crow. Stop the comparisons and enjoy the movie for what is.

I love The Crow, but I don't have an unhealthy obsession with it, not to say that you do. I did revisit 1994's The Crow in theaters about a month ago on its anniversary.
I went into this adaptation with tempered expectations, and I really enjoyed it. I like that we get a beefier backstory, more of a character-heavy depiction. The action is great, the score and cinematography were solid. My only gripe is that, besides the Big Bad, the villains are pretty forgettable, as they lack personal idiosyncrasies.
Suffice it to say, it's purchase-worthy for me.

  • @jasoncase9481

People can agree Lee Rotten Tomatoes has lost credibility because it gives the very poorly made Madame Web movie a high score.
Also, because The Crow reboot which is vastly superior than Madame Web by a landslide including has the Hero’s journey, cool action scenes, high stakes, etc.
Except Rotten Tomatoes gives the well made The Crow reboot movie a lower score than the very poorly made Madame Web movie.
The same Madame Web movie that is below multiple well made fan fiction movies of comic book characters.
