Quick note just to clarify our comparisons with the TR160 we reviewed 18 months ago. That particular TR160 was a MK2 spec unit. Trak Racer are now up to MK4 so as mentioned in this video, a lot of the improvements we saw here also apply to the newer TR160.
yes the new tr160 v4 looks pretty solid with the 1 piece rails and 6 rubber feet. good price for the unit but the shipping to western australia is $400. Whats the best seat to get the rally or get one from another manufacturer.
Been watching your channel for a while guys, and just had to say this - your reviews are incredibly thorough, detailed, honest, while remaining easy-going and making us feel like we're in conversation and part of the video. You make it look easy, and I'm sure it certainly isn't, great work - you guys are gold in the Sim Racing community.
I bought a TR120 last year, and my experience was pretty much spot on with the review. the metal shavings are terrible, but all my parts came together. Make sure you are using the right guide for what you ordered, theres a few different ones and if you arent using the right one it gets pretty confusing. Had a couple issues with ordering some extras, with stock not being available and them not telling me until i contacted them, response there could have been a little better. Its my first rig after wanting one for years, and im super happy with it. its rigid, and price is pretty reasonable. im in an owners group, and the owner of trak racer matt is in there and is very active and responsive. He seems to genuinely want to improve some of the few issues ive seen people have. I'm in melbourne so shipping was ridiculously fast on the stuff that was in stock. I dont have anything to compare to, with it being my first rig ever, but i love it, its changed my whole sim experience. used the boosted discount so thanks for that will! would i buy it again? definitely, love supporting aussie companies with good quality
@@TrakracerAuseems like your order forecasting update hasn't improved the situation. Just had dealings with Trak Racer that have had the customer services person despairing about how badly the inventory have been managed. 2.5 weeks after ordering stuff that was supposedly in stock, I find out that it's sold out. Oh, and the TR120 I was offered as a replacement? Also out of stock, but still showing as in stock on the web site. Sorry, a company this poor at the basics doesn't deserve people's orders.
@@RacingAnt Are you in New Zealand where we are clearing all of our stock at cost price to exit New Zealand? this may be a reason why stock is on shortage. and it does not represent our other 7 warehouses. Products are being cleared at cost so a lot of people rushed at once to swoop them up. Our customer support team are willing to support you.
@@TrakracerAu even when it was clear that stock was sold out, the web site still showed as available. Taking money for a product that the company knowingly cannot supply is dodgy practice. In Australia, it's illegal. Yes, I am in New Zealand. Yes, I've had a refund. But, that's not really good enough. You've just fobbed me off with "we were swamped." Hardly an excuse, never mind an apology. 1 week after I ordered the TR160, I was promised it would be shipped within a day. That's not a company that is in control. For it to then take another week, and another email, to find out I wouldn't get the product is pretty poor by anyone's standards. But to still be offering stock for sale? That's incompetence.
I just received my TR120 and finished assembling it 2 days ago. I got the red recliner seat with the order. It is absolutely awesome and rock solid. I have Simucube 2 pro and Heusinkveld sprint pedals and I'm totally satisfied with everything about it. Putting it together was a bit annoying and it takes a while but totally worth it. I would highly recommend getting one. Zero complaints from me One thing I have to mention is I received all the parts 4 days after I ordered it, and surprised me as how quick I received everything here at Emu plains near Penrith. Totally totally blown away with this cockpit. Can you tell im stoked :)
Hi I have 2 Trak racer tr120 rigs. 1 for me (45 years old 6ft) 1 for my son(8 years old 4ft). The adjustments on this rig is great. And we love them. 👍
Bought a TR120 at the beginning of this year after a bad experience with a Next Level Racing GT Track. Everything arrived in Brisbane in 3 days and nothing was missing. Didn’t even have any metal shavings in the profile. I can’t speak highly enough of the cockpit. It can be difficult to get someone on the phone at times but otherwise I’m very happy with Trak Racer. I had the instructions printed and bound at Officeworks for about $15. Made it so much easier than reading on a phone.
thank you for your support. your experience resembles most of our customer experiences; not to say no one has a problem but the happy ones are off being happy (racing)
I've got a TR80 with integrated monitor mount i've had for close to a year now, I had a pretty seamless experience putting it together, everything came as it should. Can confirm the rally seat is pretty good. The seat slider was pretty ordinary though, had quite a bit of slop in it so I just binned it and hard mounted the brackets to the rig. Fixed up a lot of lateral play too. I have the OG basic pedal deck running VRS pedals, I dont have any observable flex in it either and they're comparable to the HE Ultimates. I know people have had issues with TR in the past, and occasionally still have missing bits, but they are pretty great value for us Aussies and they've at least tried and continue to try to improve the product and experience and thats not something you see all the time. It's a good prodcut, but as you said, gotta do your research, some regions have freight carriers that are pretty trash in specific locations so you need to factor in your local freight company too, not a TR issue obviously, but something that impacts it in some way.
Tr120 owner, very happy with it. Worth mentioning they sent me a wrong part but corrected it relatively quickly. A mate who also bought one also had an issue with what was delivered. They respond to correcting the errors but quite clearly the company has an issue with its shipping process. Not such a huge issue here in Australia but if you were ordering from somewhere else it could potentially mean a long delay before you can build your rig.
I just got the TR120 myself about 2 weeks ago. it's my first sim rig. I went with the black recliner seat. I was missing some hardware and got a few mismatched parts. But I actually got an email from the owner of TrakRacer with his phone number. He and the head of support rectified the situation over the phone extremely fast as well as gave some compassion for having to wait a few days. The only problem I had was with the seat mounting. It says to make 350mm distance for the seat slide and seat to sit on. If you got a recliner seat and the bracket underneath it, the 350mm is too narrow. My recommendation is if you're going this route, just screw the mount to the seat itself. mount the sliders to the bottom of the mount. Then while leaving the 40x40 tracks assembled but loose put the seat, bracket, and rails on the 40x40 pieces and get them fitting together. with your 40x40 rails still loose, find the perfect middle fit. this could also mean that you will have to loosen up the rails to get everything dead center. The only reason why I'm writing this all out is because I spent many hours assembling and disassembling the seat bracket and rails while leaving the 350mm distance between the two 40x40 profile pieces in place (as it's literally one of the only 2 actual measurements you get in the instructions). I Just remeasured this as I'm typing this out and it's about 325mm from inside 40-40 to the other. another thing I did differently from the instructions was to put the L braces that holds the 40x40 from the inside to the outsides. makes adjustments easier and I think just looks nicer. you're going to have to cut the red strip about 70 mm shorter to fit inside the 2 L brackets but again I really like and think this is the way it should have been in the instructions. I just wish I had the ability to post a picture of this all incase someone else out there finds themselves in the same situation I was in. besides that. the mount is solid (well everything on the TR120 is pretty solid), you will get some vibrations throughout the rig but I again kinda like it. makes it feel more immersing.
I bought this seat a few months back and Im totally blown away. This seat is a great fit for a plus sized guy like my self. Definitely underrated for sim seat for large ppl
Just bought my TR120 rig upgrading from a NLR GT Ultimate V2. Seat flex was a big thing I didn’t like and wanted to eliminate it. So purchased an OMP TRS-E fixed back race seat with steel frame on OMP seat mounts. The seat is super rigid and very little flex in the seat mounts. Mounted it to the provided sliding rails and I’m pretty pleased. I may remove the rails and bolt straight to the chassis as I begin my test phase.
I have the TR120 with the GT Seat .. was my first experience of building a rig and i found it a lot less stressful than i thought i would .. and have had no issues so far!
I bought the TR120 about 3 weeks ago. It was simple but time consuming to put it together and we were short 4 bolts and washers but fortunately I had some from my old rig at the house. Without them I would have been pissed. Also of note when our stuff arrived the bags holding the bolts and what not had holes in them. The rig itself is awesome and doesnt move. the seat I have was from the old rig and not a bucket so seatback movement is definitely an issue lol. Looking to get a Sparco in the future. LOve my Trak Racer TR120
I got 2 TR120's a month ago and so far they have been great. The only tiny issues I ran into were one of the rigs came with not enough bolts and washers, and a couple of the instruction steps had minor mistakes. I also have had the monitor mounts on backorder for over a month but will hopefully be dispatched soon. However once setup, it is an awesome looking rig with no flex at all. I got mine with the reclinable seats and haven't really noticed any flex or movement in the seat apart from the minimal flex of the seat rails which is to be expected. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend the TR120 to anyone.
Thank you for your feedback. We are constantly improving the quality control process and our manuals. I'll let our team know it's still not 100% perfect.
I got mine a few months ago, All 13 boxes and contents arrived present and correct. There was a fair bit of swarf with the profiles but I unwrapped onto painter's drop-sheets so no problem really. Assembly was straight forward completed in about one relaxed day. There were a few times when I was glad I have good experience with constructing stuff. because there were plenty of traps for new starters, most of which I avoided. My only gripe is that because I want to use my rig as part of my daughters driving training starting soon, I got the recliner seat and adjustable slider option. This ended up about 40mm too high for me. It would be nice to drop the two 40 x 40mm mount rails down flush with the top of the rigs main base frames. Future project. The recliner seat has some flex under hard braking but not enough to be a problem. I use V3 pedals with the enhancement kit hard option. I'd recommend the TR120 to any serious sim addict, but would also say if you don't have good practical skills and experience, get help from a friend who does before you start assembly. (Or, watch Will's vids CAREFULLY). And lastly, most of the fastenings can be re-tightened after a few hours of heavy kerb work with the DD cranked up and rattling away. BUT. the ones on the inside of the DD base require the removal of the wheel base itself to re-tighten. therefore NOT accessible for periodic maintenance! Perhaps a thread sealant here? Locktight? Just be sure to torque em up good first time round, Edited to be more useful to someone wanting to buy. Cheers and good luck.
Earlier this year I bought a 4080 rig for my GT DD Pro, totally love it! And it was cheap compared to other sim rig sellers, €345 but for only the frame and wheel mount plate, no seat or anything. Barely any flex except sideways there's a tiny amount but only if you go crazy drifting with high ffb settings. It was at a german company called aluxprofil
I'm in the US. Their products come in many different packages from different carriers and most of the pieces were damaged, scratches and dents, only cosmetic but makes it all look like it's used material from a machine shop. Metal shavings everywhere too. The boxes they were packed in had holes allowing many of the required fasteners to be lost. One package was lost in shipping. I ended up spending 40 bucks on fasteners to put it together which added 2 extra weeks of wait ultimately. Their customer service in the US is non existent it seems. You can't get in contact with anyone unless you wage a one man social media guerilla war for a few days and then suddenly they become concerned about their image. I eventually did a call from a US representative, a VP actually. He was very apologetic, he helped me out by issuing a refund. Once put together, the product has okay stiffness and stability. I have the Moza R21 on their supposedly most stable/stiff chasis the TR 160 Mk4, and even with everything tightened and in place there's still some movement in the arms supporting the wheelbase. Not entirely satisfied there as this is supposed to take 25+ Nm, and my R21 can only put out 21Nm. The adjustability could also be better, but I think that's just the nature of using these materials to ensure stability band stiffness. It generally takes 2 people to move the wheel deck up and or when changing the tilt angle, same for positioning the pedal plate. I also got their single monitor stand and it is very unstable and entirely unusable with a G49 monitor. I would rate the chassis itself, the TR160 mk 4 at a 7/10, their customer service and availability 1/10, and monitor stand maybe 3/10.
I've had my TR120 for just over a week now, and i had a couple of nuts missing from the peddle plate(or i used more then expected),I also went with the black and red recliner seat. And I found that the whole rig is rock solid for me. But I did notice that I didn't get that extra brackets that where mentioned 21:24, so i guess that they are very new and i hope you will be able to be purchase them separately in the future, (as i was looking at add motion system in the future).
I had my TR120 delivered in 4 days between Christmas and New Years. All bits were there (I do agree that they could mark the boxes more clearly with the items). I used my own seat and regret that, but I’ll be updating that into the future. Yes there was some metal shavings but I took those boxes outside and cleaned it with compressed air. Sorted.
I have a TR8 Pro being delivered today. I have the NLR F1/GT now and I'm hoping I enjoy the new rig. Also thanks for the in depth review of the seat. I got the rally seat and feel better about it now.
Mpi has the absolute best seats there are made for sim or real racing so hopefully one day u can get your hands on the end all of all seats they are sweet looking also
I ditched the GT seat within a week of owning it and used one of those office "race" chairs. Which is about 5x more rigid, much more comfortable and has adjustability.
Good to know that shavings in/on profiles seems to be an industry thing. Just got my ASR rig the other day, and a couple supplemental pieces from TNutz. Both had shavings. On one had, I think it’s poor form to ship components in that state. However, I do recognize the added costs to cleaning the profiles before packaging. But my goodness, I would gladly pay them an extra $10 for 5 minutes of blasting all the extrusions with some shop air to get rid of at least most of the shavings. I’ve worked in machine shops before. Those shavings get everywhere and it’s hard to completely clean them up, especially on rugs, carpet, etc.
to eliminate shavings it's a different process of cut, colour and wrap. Instead of colour, wrap (so scratching) then cut. It's all possible, the cost will increase as a result which we will consider.
I got the TR160 about a year ago with the GT style seat and I have to say my experience with that seat is completely different to yours Will. Mine is really rigid and the back doesn't have that pop that yours has. I use the Asetek Invicta pedals too so I put quite a bit of force into the back. All I can think of is maybe you got a dodgy seat or they have changed the seat somehow because mine barely moves. As for the rest of my rig everything came complete, no missing parts and I even had a heap of extra bolts and T-Nuts left over....and no I didn't forget any :) All in all I couldn't be happier with mine and the customer service I got was perfect. I'm starting to sound like I work there huh....(I definitely don't). Anyway great review Will & Tom. Keep it up boys.
I've had my TR80 for about the same length of time with the GT seat and I have the same issue with the seat popping. I did notice if I change my seating angle and pedal placement I can mitigate it to some degree. This made the pushing force lower down on the seat rather than in the mid back where it pops. My brother has an NRG seat which he found on sale for $300 or so and it is significantly more rigid with support across the back.
thank you for your support Wayne. Most of our clients have an amazing experience with the product and service. There does appear to be a problem with the seat Will has which we can rectify.
Have the same issue with my Sparco seat slider as well. There is more play on the left then the right. Overall can't really complain makes it easier to get in and out of the rig easier over having it fully in a fixed position.
Picked one of these up a few months ago and used your discount code! Cheers for that. Bit of a mission to put together in terms of adjust ability (there is A LOT). But its a great "problem" to have. One or two things wrong with their manual, but easily sorted once you get your head wrapped around it. Amazing rig at a great price. I picked up a second hand fixed back seat (Cobra) that i used Rpm brackets on the supplied sliders. I have zero issues with mine. So i'd suspect its the supplied rails and cheap seat (which you pay a premium for). I have basically non existent flex.
@46:44 the side to side lateral seat rail movement is more pronounced with motion. It dampens some of the motion or gives undesired movement. Typically we suggest to our clients that they to run a couple of custom cut, extruded aluminum pieces from the right to left side mounts OR as you recommended, a solid mount is best and simple if you do not need a slider. 👍
Love my 120 and screen mounts. No items missing. Did have some shavings but nothing major. Itemised everything with post-it notes before I started assembly which made it easier, I am pretty pedantic and assembly took about 6 beers, was enjoyable and a bit of a challenge. Took maybe another few hours over the next few days for adjustments etc. seat holding up well. Will likely buy trakracer stuff again. Haven’t got the caster wheels yet but do want to get them, think they would be handy for moving and cleaning around etc. seat slider can feel a bit rough and notchy if I was being picky. Owned since they were released and no issues as yet.
Great review as usual Will. I hope all those profile improvements have carried over to the TR160 MK4, as I pre-ordered one a couple of weeks ago and have just found out they won't have any local stock (NZ) till mid-august, which is a bummer, as I wanted it especially for winter. I also ordered the universal seat bracket for recline seats and office chairs, so I can bolt my Noblechairs Hero seat to it (as I am 6'4" 100kg ). It is a big and comfortable seat with adjustable lumbar support like car seat (which is comfortable for me to sit in for several hours at a time). I also ordered the new hybrid formula/ GT/inverted pedal plate kit for it - would be great if Trak Racer sent you one of those to test as well.
My experience with delivery from TR is not as good. No estimated delivery time, no notification when the items were dispatched, no information about how many boxes I should expect, and the order was delivered as three different courier deliveries. I'm still waiting for a response from TR to confirm whether I've received all boxes (SKUs), so I'll have to begin assembly in good hope that I've received all required parts. TR doesn't pick up tge phone or return calls for messages left on the answering machine either. No one is available for online chat either. Looks like a ghost company, so be aware before buying from them.
I have for a year a tr 160. The extra keyboard mouse tray is a bit flimsy and it came with a non threaded piece, after some back and forth with the Customer Service ( 1 guy ? :P) I got sent a replacement threaded piece to finish the tray. Building it was hell and took for ever but after building it I haven't touched it for a year and it is as solid as it gets. At my heaviest I was 125kg and the rig does not care about that at all and the rally seat fit me fine. The nice looking floor mat is actually too small for the rig. So that was a bit of a let down and for some reason I only got a fully black rig and no of the nice red accent colors...
Biting the bullet on my first proper rig as getting back into Sim racing. Going to go with a TR80-Lite in the next couple of days and mount my Sparco bucket to it. I'm coming from an old hyperdrive so it's going to be quite an upgrade from that flexy beast. Discount code doesn't work but it's on sale so I guess that is why. I'll buy on the affiliate link though as your channel and reviews have been awesome for me.
A bit later to the party, but how would you compare this newer and more robust version of Trak Racer products, more specifically this TR120 against the Simlab P1X? They are really close in terms of cost, so it would be a fairer comparison than the TR160 imo. Can anyone comment on this?
If you buying your own Seat do not forget Seat Brackets! They do not come included just got my 120 delivered and now sitting in my bucket seat on the floor and looking at the boxes before vital parts will arrive....
@@RPMhunter If yoou havent build one before you are in for a roller coaster. No youtube channel provides the info of how hard is to build aluminium profile. It took me 12hours by reasambling the rig 3 times due to unmarked parts. I'm even thinking to release the TR120 Manual walk through to help others. Despite all issues its amazing but would never ever build one again. When buying T120 You need to add just the bracket for bucket seat that's the only thing not included. It might be included if you order TR seat. But would recommend to spend few quid more to get bespoke seat of your liking. Because TR seats are gaming seats when a real bucket seat is real and you can get one for anything from 300-600 which is the same range for TR Seats which are just a gaming seat really.
@@RPMhunter I went for sparco Circuit 2 seat and its f**** amazing I never imagined that a seat can improve my lap times by holding me tight all around and allowing me to focus on the road. Sadly it does reduce gaming time as you not moving much curtain parts start to get tired faster but still 2h non stop sitting is ok. Its not like 30min race and you need brake
Nice Review! I have an NLR FGT Elite rig and I love it. Solid as a rock and no flex. With these aluminum extrusion rigs in general is real world flex really ever an issue?. I find it hard to believe given the nature of aluminum profile itself that that would be an issue in any of these rigs.
Bought a TR80 a few months ago. The QR code I scanned to find the build instructions was outdated. Several profiles and the wheel base piece had changed without any update to the instructions, website image of the product, etc. I had metal shavings all over my room for months. The T-nuts are cheap. Wouldn’t purchase again.
It could just be my tv, but could I recommend looking into a camera mounted light or something for when you're getting in close to those darker areas? A little bit hard to see in some shots. I don't know why I'm complaining though, I don't even plan on buying this I just enjoy the reviews lol.
Very informative video Will. You have been my go to for information on sim racing. Do you think the rally seat is sufficient enough for reducing movement or do you recommend another type of seat? If so, what would you recommend? As for mounting the shifter closer, does Trak Racer include parts to mount that or did you essentially come up with that custom solution yourself?
I find that if I set my tr120 with the seat all the way back it rocks backwards when using the standard feet included. So ive had to adjust it all forward with seat slid all the way forward to stop it rocking, Also the gt seat is a bit soft but if you break lower more from the hip and get the right angle on the brake pedal it doesnt flex but can be tricky to position yourself each time. Other than that its a great rig. Was wondering if you could do a review of the inverter/gt/hybrid setup?
I loving these videos on rig, building part by part my one at home. Next update will be the fanatic V3 pedals. I'm also looking for a new monitor but have no idea with one to buy. Do i go single or triple screen and how big do the screen have to be. Do you have a recent video on this topic cause I can't find it. Keep it up
I'm trying to decide between the TR160 and TR120. The way I have each kitted out will mean ~$100 difference between the two. Other than more rigidity, why would I go for the 160 over the 120? Is the difference in rigidity notable between the two?
Great vid as usual. Do you have a review of the new TR80 LITE RACING SIMULATOR TR80L-WM-UK? Also was think of this seat but the back popping flex may have changed my mind. Will look for another seat.. thanks
I had the same with that seat popping in and out...had to sell it and track racer didn't even reply to my question. Then on Facebook I mentioned this and they told me new ones don't do that anymore....but obviously it's the same. The seat just too wide and just too thin.
I have this rig I'm happy with it in itself but trak racer missed parts when it initially shipped so had to wait longer for them to get the correct parts to me And a few other parts went out of stock and I've waited 2 months for them to come back (probably not their fault, global shipping)
thank you for bringing this to our attention. If there is anything we can assist with at this late stage, please do email us and request to speak with our Founder and CEO, Matt Sten
have been going back and forth a few different sim rigs but this video pushed me over the top and I ordered a TR120 a few hours ago. However, I am now 2nd guessing the GT fixed seat. I got it because it is the seat that is most like the one in my car. Anyone know if they have revised the seat to fix the issues in this video? or should I try to have my seat changed to the rally seat
Please, I want to put the T300 steering wheel in that configuration and I don't know if I will be able to... the T300's steering surface is 26 cm. and I don't know if the black plate to mount it is wide enough. Thank you.
So how much was everything that was mentioned and reviewed on this video? Just trying to get an idea as to what one will have to spend to get that… Since you don’t have the tv mounts I would have to spend a little more but I just want to get a general idea as to what I need to spend to get a fully functional rig. Pedals, seat, rig, wheel
Hello fellow Matthias, I believe it is an additional 300 AUD for the monitor stand. Only critical parts remaining are your monitor, pedals, wheel base & wheel, shifter & handbrake, all of these vary enormously in pricing. In order to make use of such a rigid base, I'd imagine you'd be spending close to an additional 2000 - 3000 AUD. Unless second hand, if you are spending any less, you can happily buy a smaller less rigid & cheaper base frame
Ordered a tr160 in November/December 2021 and boxes came mostly undamaged. One box the bag of nuts and screws ripped and so there was parts spewed everywhere when I opened it. They also sent the wrong box for a TR80 rig and not for my TR160 so that took a while before I could finish my rig. overall I returned it and went with another company
You must be from USA. Our shipping partner at the time, Shipbob, somehow sent TR80 boxes instead of TR160 even though all boxes (as you could see) are clearly marked. I am very sorry you had a poor experience and we would like to rectify for any inconvenience caused to you; even though you did go elsewhere.
@@TrakracerAu thanks Trak Racer! I will definitely try you out again one day. I do like the red accent fanatec wheel mount so I might fancy purchasing that down the road (:
Just ordered a TR120, what did you use to mount the hand brake right to the profile? I have a particular accessory I would like to mount higher up than what the side arm is.
i am in the grumpy TR owner crowd - Took almost 7 weeks to get my package due to lost parcels and missing items - Support was pretty much long wait between getting a response and mostly just repeating myself again as i was passed onto someone who didn't follow through the progress. It was a very dismal experience for me and one i won't be repeating any time soon. TR are tarred for me so much that the rig has lost its sparkle after all the frustration i went through with it.
Any chance you’ll review the Playseat Trophy? I understand it’s not going to appeal to most serious sim drivers, but I’ve got a DD Pro I want to use in the lounge room, and be able to relatively easily move it out of the way the rest of the time. (I really should have paid more attention the your 10 Things I Wish I Knew video-and in particular the importance of a rigid sim rig- before I bought my wheelbase. 😉)
Hey guy, how tall are you? I am very limited on space and my current rseat evo get pushed into a corner. Just wondering I see you have maybe 10” past your pedals that I could cut off to save me some space. I’m 5’5”. Thanks
@@boostedmedia Well that makes perfect sense then Will. Any plans for a review in future? I guess the Profile rig reviews all get a bit samey after a while, pedal deck design seems to be the big differentiator. Great review to by the way. Thanks for keeping us informed.
I'm looking for a new rig and TrackRacer is so far my preference, honestly was looking at TR80mk5 and not TR120. Would be TR80 a good choice or better to move one step bigger? Fanatec CSW 2.5 and Heusinkveld Sprint
I'm in the same situation and looking at the TR80 as well. I'm fine with the slightly thinner 8040 profiles but would like to know how it would handle a dbox type motion system which I plan to add later. How do the TR80 and 120 compare in ease of integrating to the base profiles and stiffness when adding motion?
My experience with TR in Australia was appalling to say the least. Customer service seemed to be OK in the early stages until money was spent then you find out how unorganised they are. Didn't seem to have a clue what was going on or how to fix it from their end. I never leave reviews but people need to be very cautious when purchasing from this company. It almost seemed like a business run from some backyard garage. On the other hand I've never had any issues with Pagnian who have sent items quickly and communication from them has been fantastic. I purchase a lot of equipment online and have never experienced such a poor level of customer service as I didn with TR in Australia. I will never buy from them again which is a shame as the product is actually fairly good. TR need to get their act together. Good luck.
I am sorry for your poor experience with us. I am also interested to know how long ago this was. In 2020 we had 3 staff and demand grew 400%. we now have 26 global staff across our 7 global locations and have much better systems in place these days.
@@TrakracerAuHi, I am curious as a pre-order customer in NZ, why is the ETA for the profile rigs now mid-august? When I ordered a TR160 a few weeks ago, it said stock arriving soon.
@@boostedmedia My experience was this year. The equipment is great but the unorganised shipping system and follow up are big negatives when orders are in the thousands of dollars.
The TR80 includes the shifter mount and also has a more adjustable pedal deck which can go from Formular to GT height. The TR120 has higher profile and a more unique design than anything in the market. The Pedal deck on the TR120 may be considered as more rigid.
Great thorough review Will. Owned a TR160 for around a year now, had a very similar experience with missing parts and metal shavings everywhere etc. I also have the GT seat, you aren't alone with yours bulging out under braking and twisting in every direction. For anyone ordering, I would certainly choose a different seat as the quality is beyond poor and is in no way fit for purpose.
Thanks for the feedback mate. They’re insisting the seat I got was faulty and want to send me a new one to try so we’ll see. So far 5 people have said they have the same issues.
Dam this sucks im waiting sinds mid February on that seat and still am im going to be really upset if that seat is that trash and flimsy how is the sim lab speed 1 or other bucked seats like this? Cause there getting a return asap if its like this
I am litterally waiting for UPS to deliver my TR120 while watching this, I am disappointed about the seat since that was the version I ordered, hopefully I'm not that hard of a braker lol
Im lmfao because i thought I somehow had the playback speed sped up but when i checked, it was set to normal. No worries though, I just set the playback speed to .75x and you don't sound like a speed freak anymore. 🤣🤣🤣
My opinion applies to all of the commercial available aluminum profile sim rigs. They REALLY need to contract a mechanical engineer to help them with the design. They keep on making the same mistakes over & over again. TL;DR It is all about gusseting correctly and directing the forces into the floor. I made my ZERO flex, adjustable rig out of 60/30 profile by correct design for $750. Disassembled, the ENTIRE sim hardware fits in my MX-5 Miata (just moved across America).
No discount code in the link.
They’ve stopped the discounts unfortunately. :(
Is there any need to go up to the TR160 or is this more than you will ever need?
@@boostedmedia cause they felt put on blast probably hahaha, thanks for your vids man always look forward to them
Just got my TR120 and built it and happy to report no missing items and very notably no metal shavings. super happy with that
Been watching your channel for a while guys, and just had to say this - your reviews are incredibly thorough, detailed, honest, while remaining easy-going and making us feel like we're in conversation and part of the video. You make it look easy, and I'm sure it certainly isn't, great work - you guys are gold in the Sim Racing community.
Thanks very much :)
I dont have anything to compare to, with it being my first rig ever, but i love it, its changed my whole sim experience. used the boosted discount so thanks for that will! would i buy it again? definitely, love supporting aussie companies with good quality
thank you for your feedback, we are in the midst of a global ERP system to improve on order forecasting.
@@RacingAnt I am very sorry we were unable to fulfil your order Antony.
Zero complaints from me
One thing I have to mention is I received all the parts 4 days after I ordered it, and surprised me as how quick I received everything here at Emu plains near Penrith. Totally totally blown away with this cockpit. Can you tell im stoked :)
thank you for your support
Hi I have 2 Trak racer tr120 rigs. 1 for me (45 years old 6ft) 1 for my son(8 years old 4ft). The adjustments on this rig is great. And we love them. 👍
thank you for your support
It's a good prodcut, but as you said, gotta do your research, some regions have freight carriers that are pretty trash in specific locations so you need to factor in your local freight company too, not a TR issue obviously, but something that impacts it in some way.
thank you for this feedback. I'll discuss the slider with our engineers/product sourcing team.
Would love to see a picture of what you described, but it has been a year now :P
I have had one of these for years and love it
I bought this seat a few months back and Im totally blown away. This seat is a great fit for a plus sized guy like my self. Definitely underrated for sim seat for large ppl
thank you for your support
Just bought my TR120 rig upgrading from a NLR GT Ultimate V2. Seat flex was a big thing I didn’t like and wanted to eliminate it. So purchased an OMP TRS-E fixed back race seat with steel frame on OMP seat mounts. The seat is super rigid and very little flex in the seat mounts. Mounted it to the provided sliding rails and I’m pretty pleased. I may remove the rails and bolt straight to the chassis as I begin my test phase.
I have the TR120 with the GT Seat .. was my first experience of building a rig and i found it a lot less stressful than i thought i would .. and have had no issues so far!
thank you for your support
@@mrj3217 Yes the seat is separate .. Trak Racer have a number of seat options but there are other seats you can use too.
I've had my eye on the TR120 for a while now but havn't pulled the trigger. Good to know it's an excellent product.
Locktight? Just be sure to torque em up good first time round,
Edited to be more useful to someone wanting to buy. Cheers and good luck.
Thanks Will. Now I have to upgrade my TR160 with the new wheel mount and pedal plate!
Brilliant review with comparisons to other rigs. Thank you.
Another fantastic review. Thank you. Great cameraman as well. Very useful angles at the right moments with good focus.
Got mine with normal pedal plate and a NLR ers3 Seat.
Its by far the best RIG ive ever sat in ❤
how did you mount the ers3?
@ the ers3 comes with a Slider which fits perfectly on my rig
@@anonym8951 thank you! thought i need to experiment and build something
Sorted.
I recommend the Sparco Grid II Seat, no flex high end quality for around 499$.
$800 USD today
I have a TR8 Pro being delivered today. I have the NLR F1/GT now and I'm hoping I enjoy the new rig. Also thanks for the in depth review of the seat. I got the rally seat and feel better about it now.
Rally seat is great! You’ll love it.
thank you for your support. The TR8 Pro is an amazing product also.
Mpi has the absolute best seats there are made for sim or real racing so hopefully one day u can get your hands on the end all of all seats they are sweet looking also
Very nice review! thanx for that. I ordered one myself. not in yet, but i'm looking forward to it.
thank you
I ditched the GT seat within a week of owning it and used one of those office "race" chairs. Which is about 5x more rigid, much more comfortable and has adjustability.
thank you for this feedback.
@@TrakracerAu you're welcome
Glad to hear your seat wasn’t like ours! Keen to cheer some other experiences!
I have basically non existent flex.
thank you for your feedback
@46:44 the side to side lateral seat rail movement is more pronounced with motion. It dampens some of the motion or gives undesired movement.
Typically we suggest to our clients that they to run a couple of custom cut, extruded aluminum pieces from the right to left side mounts OR as you recommended, a solid mount is best and simple if you do not need a slider. 👍
we have this SGS tested and the load limit is far greater than any motion application. I cant see any movement you speak of.
Owned since they were released and no issues as yet.
thank you for your support.
That's quite disappointing about the GT seat popping at the back. I had this one on my wishlist. Thanks for the review!
I was looking getting this cockpit I just wish if they had an all black version.
I'll buy on the affiliate link though as your channel and reviews have been awesome for me.
how'd you find it? I'm thinking of upgrading to that exact setup soon - and hoping it'll be my last cockpit upgrade!
Man thanks for the heads up, how has your experience been? Looking at getting it with the Black Friday sales
Not in the profile itself generally, but on some of the rigs we’ve tested, the pedal plate, wheel deck and seat mounts have quite a bit of flex.
I love my tr160 but I will admit there was a time I thought it would never arrive.
Bits and pieces!
I see no discount code... 😢
how many hours to get this assembled? thank you.
Have you tested the rig with motion platform? Does the shape of the cockpit affect the motion?
Would be curious as well.
With Trak Racers inability to deliver products in a timely fashion, I would highly recommend steering clear of this company.
Great vid as usual. Do you have a review of the new TR80 LITE RACING SIMULATOR TR80L-WM-UK? Also was think of this seat but the back popping flex may have changed my mind. Will look for another seat.. thanks
Is this a good rig for f1 ? Wanna play all kind of race games but the most f1
I had the same with that seat popping in and out...had to sell it and track racer didn't even reply to my question. Then on Facebook I mentioned this and they told me new ones don't do that anymore....but obviously it's the same. The seat just too wide and just too thin.
Thanks for the info.
thank you for this feedback. I'll feed it up the chain of command.
hello,
is it possible to mount a real car seat to avoid problems with seat flex ?
Thank You for the perfect video : )
yes
I have this rig I'm happy with it in itself but trak racer missed parts when it initially shipped so had to wait longer for them to get the correct parts to me
And a few other parts went out of stock and I've waited 2 months for them to come back (probably not their fault, global shipping)
thank you for bringing this to our attention. If there is anything we can assist with at this late stage, please do email us and request to speak with our Founder and CEO, Matt Sten
Hey Will…..noted you put motion on this. How did you compensate for the difference in width? Thanks
Have a look at my Sigma Integrale review video. It’s shown there. Just added some 40mm profile rails to the front with some 90 degree brackets.
have been going back and forth a few different sim rigs but this video pushed me over the top and I ordered a TR120 a few hours ago.
Hello fellow Matthias,
I believe it is an additional 300 AUD for the monitor stand.

Do the Formula/GT brackets work with the GT Seat?
Hey guys, what about the Simrigs eXodus rig for pricing and comparable?
Just ordered a TR120, what did you use to mount the hand brake right to the profile? I have a particular accessory I would like to mount higher up than what the side arm is.
@boostedmedia Did you buy that 3D printed Logo of yours on the back of the rig?
Nearly $2,000 is actually crazy imo
Hi, very informative video. Is this cockpit compatible with sigma dk2 motion system?
You’ll need to add some profile to the sides on the front but yeah. We used this rig in our review of the DK2
@@boostedmedia do you assume performance wise and in terms of reliability, the TR120 it is heads up with the TR160 MK4?
Did you test this with motion? How did it hold up?
Can you mount fanatec CSL load cell pedal with the pedal option shown in the video?
Yes but the TR heel plate would be redundant so a different option might be better value.
i am in the grumpy TR owner crowd - Took almost 7 weeks to get my package due to lost parcels and missing items - Support was pretty much long wait between getting a response and mostly just repeating myself again as i was passed onto someone who didn't follow through the progress. It was a very dismal experience for me and one i won't be repeating any time soon. TR are tarred for me so much that the rig has lost its sparkle after all the frustration i went through with it.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
thank you for sharing this, i'll pass this onto our training team. We have great products and it's disappointing when they are let down in this way.
We’ve tried reaching out to playseat numerous times and never had a response from them.
Thanks. Given the dearth of of online reviews this doesn’t surprise me.
Can this rig with the fixed gt seat be used in the aggressive formula posture with the pedal mount add on?
Does anyone else also have the same feedback on the GT seat as Will in regards to the flex and the seat bulging on breaking?
I saved myself money and picked up an aftermarket Fixed back.
Been using the TR160 for around a year now. Happy with it but the GT seat is absolutely dreadful, definitely choose a different option.
how should i mount my moza shifter/handbrake onto the tr120
Hey guy, how tall are you? I am very limited on space and my current rseat evo get pushed into a corner. Just wondering I see you have maybe 10” past your pedals that I could cut off to save me some space. I’m 5’5”. Thanks
How does the TR120 compare to the GT Omega Prime? Funny this didn’t get a mention in your comparison.
Wasn’t mentioned because we haven’t ever reviewed one.
@@boostedmedia Well that makes perfect sense then Will. Any plans for a review in future? I guess the Profile rig reviews all get a bit samey after a while, pedal deck design seems to be the big differentiator.
Great review to by the way. Thanks for keeping us informed.
Are you gonna review the nlr Gtelite and ers1
Thanks for your top quality videos
Yep we have the GT Elite here to review. Already reviewed the FGT elite. They haven’t sent us the ERS1 though.
Thanks for your reply 😃👍 looking forward for that review.. Keep up the fantastic work.
Hi guys. Which one would you buy in 2023 if they were the same price? Tr120 vs nlr f-gt elite?
Thanks!
Nice review...Can you actually fix Fanatec clubsport V3 pedals with this system?
Not sure what you mean sorry? Can you mount them? Yes.
@@boostedmedia thanks for you reply, I meant can you mount them on that exact setup or do you need the other plate with the holes already drilled?
No they can be mounted with this setup, but the TR heel plate would be redundant
I'm looking for a new rig and TrackRacer is so far my preference, honestly was looking at TR80mk5 and not TR120. Would be TR80 a good choice or better to move one step bigger? Fanatec CSW 2.5 and Heusinkveld Sprint
Haven’t tested a TR80 so can’t comment. Sorry.
the TR80 is a great choice and included the hybrid pedal mount for Formula and GT driving positions. It also includes the shifter mount.
I'm in the same situation and looking at the TR80 as well. I'm fine with the slightly thinner 8040 profiles but would like to know how it would handle a dbox type motion system which I plan to add later.
How do the TR80 and 120 compare in
ease of integrating to the base profiles and stiffness when adding motion?
@@sarabothea Our TR80 will handle motion very easily.
Good luck.
Thanks for sharing your experience. How long ago was this out of interest?
@@Hellknight27 we will get it to you sooner from our Australian inventory.
Simlab need to update their rigs are get left behind. This is more stylish with that kink on the main frame.
I am shopping and hesitating between this TR120 and a TR80. What are the main differences between these two rigs?
The TR80 includes the shifter mount and also has a more adjustable pedal deck which can go from Formular to GT height. The TR120 has higher profile and a more unique design than anything in the market. The Pedal deck on the TR120 may be considered as more rigid.
@@TrakracerAu understood, TR80 for me it is. Thanks. Will place an order soon.
Sim labs is now a better price and im betting even better. And comes with a side mount where the trak racer has to be added.
Hello, can you do review on your DBOX system, can you feel traction lost with 4 actuator....???? Thanks :-)
It’s coming soon :)
Does anybody have experience rolling this rig with the add on wheels around on carpet ? I’m really curious if it would be a pain regardless
Halo seats in sim racing cockpits crack me up.
Does anyone know if this issue with the back flex on the GT seat still persists? - Or did they fix this with new batches?
How do you get the wheel higher?
Great thorough review Will. Owned a TR160 for around a year now, had a very similar experience with missing parts and metal shavings everywhere etc. I also have the GT seat, you aren't alone with yours bulging out under braking and twisting in every direction. For anyone ordering, I would certainly choose a different seat as the quality is beyond poor and is in no way fit for purpose.
Thanks for the feedback mate. They’re insisting the seat I got was faulty and want to send me a new one to try so we’ll see. So far 5 people have said they have the same issues.
Have to update us mate with the outcome. Won't be holding my breath though, I've sat in four other people's chairs and they're exactly the same.
Dam this sucks im waiting sinds mid February on that seat and still am im going to be really upset if that seat is that trash and flimsy how is the sim lab speed 1 or other bucked seats like this? Cause there getting a return asap if its like this
@@KevinX_0 we can change you over to the rally seat if you like. just email the request through.
Is it possible to obtain a hybrid seating position??
we do have the seat brackets and hybrid pedal plate to achieve this.
I am litterally waiting for UPS to deliver my TR120 while watching this, I am disappointed about the seat since that was the version I ordered, hopefully I'm not that hard of a braker lol
I am curious what you use for your seat rail, I'd like to get that since I didn't order the optional seat slider
Im lmfao because i thought I somehow had the playback speed sped up but when i checked, it was set to normal. No worries though, I just set the playback speed to .75x and you don't sound like a speed freak anymore. 🤣🤣🤣
😂
My opinion applies to all of the commercial available aluminum profile sim rigs. They REALLY need to contract a mechanical engineer to help them with the design. They keep on making the same mistakes over & over again. TL;DR It is all about gusseting correctly and directing the forces into the floor. I made my ZERO flex, adjustable rig out of 60/30 profile by correct design for $750. Disassembled, the ENTIRE sim hardware fits in my MX-5 Miata (just moved across America).
Post a video of it if you can. Would like to see the setup.
@@Thisonegoestoeleven666 Will do within the next 7 days and post it on my RUclips channel. I will mention it on this post when uploaded.
We have a team of engineers and all our profiles are SGS tested for load limits.
@@TrakracerAuI have no issues with your aluminum profile, other than being needlessly large and expensive. I have issue with your connection methods.
