    I became a teen in 1970, the year America formed, and they are truly the soundtrack of my youth. This is the band I've listened to more than any other in my life! Fantastic that they're still making music!

    My favourite song is still Tin Man, with Ventura Highway a close second. I'm a 70-year-old Aussie who lived the Hotel California lifestyle in SoCal in the 1970s (and survived it). These guys are part of the soundtrack to my life.

    Super gifted guys and I like the celebration, it would have been cool if someone had mentioned Dan Peek.

    • @Tom-iw3zh
      @Tom-iw3zh 4 года назад +2

      You're right. Dan Peek became a born-again Christian. I too am one. When we are being "born-again" we are being changed from a worldly person to an eternal one. That, sadly, causes a division with our friends, family, etc. automatically. I think Mr. Beckley and Mr. Bunnell may have felt very hurt by the breakup as they were all good friends; or possibly just the hardship of "pressure" as they were already feeling pressure; or maybe just betrayed and kind of "left for dead" by Dan Peek? But, none of us can stay in our old circles of people who are not being changed and be changed. We ALL go through the same thing. Our friends, family all react the same way. Our opinions oppose theirs (whereas before this, we were the same). They poke fun at us and accuse us of judging them. They don't believe we heard the voice of God, but we all did. (Not the phony ones who lie. But those of us who are not phony really do.) We pull away from "the world" to change. We see Jesus and want to be like Him. The "fight" inside of us begins do I obey God or go along with "the world"? It is difficult for both sides. But, "Love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind and might." "Love others as yourself." We come to love the Lord God MORE than ourselves, thus more than others. Which does not mean that we don't love others. But when it comes to which side we stand with? Jesus wins! As He is our Lord.
      Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell are extremely gifted musicians and songwriters. They did great since Dan Peek went God's way. Their talent does not diminish because they change band members. It's a little different sound, but wonderful in its own way. I still really enjoy listening to their music myself.

    I note that I do not listen to many old nice hits like as I felt it previously. That's because the information field has changed, I'm in where I feel comfortable and I don't want to go back in time. Many songs encourage a change of situation, but after the change had been done the song lost interest. To interest people, you need to write a new song. If the goal is achieved, a new goal must be set. But a moving back in the time feels like onanism.

      Some people like moving back in time..some don't..there is a place for everybody. Dewey Bunnell said recently that they'd stuck in the past...I just love good music , some best songs were written in the 70s...
