Sorry for the low audio. First three videos on the channel have low audio. For me it is good when I listen on my laptop but trough headphones the sound is low. I think now it is fixed. I appreciate all feedback. Thanks!
This song brings a tear to most Australians. We don’t need to drink to feel this song.
The Seekers were the first Australian pop group to have a Top 5 hit in Australia, the UK and the US simultaneously. "I'll Never Find Another You", recorded in November 1964, reached No.1 in the UK and Australia, and No.4 in the United States. "I'll Never Find Another You" was the seventh biggest-selling single in Britain in 1965 although their own "The Carnival Is Over", released later in the year, would eventually eclipse it, and went on to sell 1.75 million copies worldwide. In December 1966 they issued "Georgy Girl", which became their highest charting American hit when it reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Cashbox Top 100 and sold 3.5 million copies worldwide. It was No. 3 in the UK and No. 1 in Australia.
"I am Australian" is our unofficial National Anthem. The seekers are legends. RIP Judith.
In my opinion this song should be Australia's National anthem as it seems to have everything a national anthem needs, it is a simple tune with easy to learn lyrics that actually mean something. It relates to the history of Australia and all its many varied people. It tells of about the people who were here before and those who came after Federation, what Australia sees itself as now, and what Australia's hopes and goals are for the future.
Check out more of the Seekers
They date back to the early sixties.
They have many number 1 songs
The Seekers were an Australian folk-influenced pop group originally formed in Melbourne in 1962. They were the first Australian pop music group to achieve major chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States. They were especially popular during the 1960s, with their best-known configuration of Judith Durham on vocals, piano and tambourine; Athol Guy on double bass and vocals; Keith Potger on twelve-string guitar, banjo and vocals; and Bruce Woodley on guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocals.
Judith was released from hospital after having a stroke so she could preform which is why you see her sitting.
Sadly she past away on the 5th of August 2022
Its the biggest island in the world and we have the the full range of weather from desert to tropical to snow capped alps, the people are competitive, all colors and keen to meet you so welcome.
The Seekers were my favourite back in the mid to late 1960's. They didn't need flashing lights , dancers and fireworks to entertain. The female singer , Judith Durham, could sing and dressed like the girl next door. Just talent.
This is a song we are very proud of.
Cheers, mate!
There's two main weather styles in Australia, La Nina=rain and El Nino=drought. There's more influencing factors but those tend to make the most impact.
This song was written by Bruce Woodley with the Guitar ,and Dobe Newton of the Bushwackers in 1988 performed best by the Seekers Vale Judith Durham 2022
The state of South Australia never had convicts.
Australia gets more snow than Switzerland and has more camels than Saudi Arabia.
Thanks for the video, Fran. Don't fret too much about the audio, we all know the song quite well! It should be the national anthem, as far as I'm concerned; Advance Australia Fair is great, but this song captures what Australia has become.
Then there's THIS one:- The Seekers - I Am Australian, Georgy Girl & Waltzing Matilda* Live, 1994 - New HQ upload
I don't about the guys, but Judith passed on in August 2022.
If going talk through the song , can I suggest you press pause, react then play on.
Judith ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Australia is the driest Populated Continent on Earth. But, It floods somewhere every year. More than 90% of Australians live on the Coast with less than 10% living inland. The Seekers, the singers of this song have been a World Class Band since around 1963. They have had many No1 Records in Britain & the US. They were the first Australian Band to be Nominated & to win a Grammy. They also won an Academy Award for their Song Georgie Girl. Australia is the World's largest island & the smallest Continent. It is the only Continent that is also a single Country. After the Aboriginals, it was the British that colonised Australia.
You should visit
They were English convicts
If you include Australia's Antarctic territory, it is the only country in the world that includes all possible climate zones within its borders.
Have a look at vivid Sydney please
Sounds very quiet..
There were more free settlers than convicts. The convicts came from all over Britain . Many were sent here for long incarceration for the pettiest of crimes that did not deserve a jail sentence. They were used as slave labor to build the infrastructure of this wonderful country and most stayed on to become good contributing citizens. Their sentences to do penal time in Australia was due to the hierarchical class system of unjust laws in Britain and where jails were incredibly overcrowded.. Please do not make comments about things you do not really know about Australia. We do not need alcohol to appreciate and 'feel' this song. It is loved by many Aussies (and those who have never consumed alcohol ! ). Australia is a VERY multi-cultural, modern nation with over 200 ethnicities. A family member comes from Uruguay.
I wish reactors would read the lyrics through this song you as a collective miss so many characters mentioned
sadly couldn't hear this video ....please check your sound
You couldn't hear the audio because she kept talking whilst it was playing.
I am Australian. This is not Australian National ethem but it should be.
Stop talking or pause the video, it is very annoying.
How can we listen to the lyrics.
Very emotional song and it's not a national anthem....the seekers were bigger than Beatles and stones put together in the 60s..
The song is about many things, but to an overseas person, the probably miss the point that it is about unity that allows one country to embrace others from any where on earth, you are not a foreigner when you land in Australia.
The worst song about Australia ever written.
Whilst I respect your right to have an opinion, I also reserve the right to think you a very foolish individual. We are a land with varied original races from 60,000 years ago to today.
You ARE joking, right?!!!
Sadly an un-Australian response
