    Great Reaction to the song that should be Australia's National Anthem.

    I'm not even Australian and has never been on travel there either but this song makes me truly emotional because it takes me on a journey through time both past decades until today and gives me chills listening to the lyrics while they singing ...one of the best unofficial national anthems ever made, I hope that the Australian government grants their people a change of national anthem by polls or voting because this song deserves the title of a National anthem to be proud of

    There are two types of Aussies: those who were born there and those who chose to die there.
    I am of the latter, having come here when I was three. I am proud of my country, always.

    I emigrated to Australia from the UK back in 1970 when I was 29 years old I am now almost 82 and Australia is home so I say proudly that I am Australian!...Sadly Judith Durham the female singer in The Seekers passed away last year. R.I.P. Judith.

    Would you please react to Australian singer John Farnham who sings a song You’re the Voice which a lot of people think should be our National Anthem as well. The best version is with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. John is a legend who has had hits in about 6 decades having his first hit when he was 18 or so.

    Although l love to see the Seekers doing their farewell performance in person for people who are are not familiar with Australian history the pictures do tell the story.I have listened to many reviews of this song and some of the reviews get that’s it a patriotic song and love it but don’t really understand many of the things sang about ,the pictures sure help.

    Although this is far better than "Advance Australia Fair ,( with its "girt by sea " . Who talks like that ?). I was disappointed we didn't use "My Country " as our national Anthem. Most already know the second verse-I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping Plains. Of ragged mountain ranges , of droughts and flooding rains . I love her sun kissed beaches , I love her coral sea . Her beauty and her terror , the wide brown land for me .....( Please forgive any mistakes ,it's been a long time since I've heard it ). This song borrowed a few lines from it . - Dorothy Mckellar wrote this in response to English poets writing of the beauty of their homeland. Edit - In 1974 at the school I was then at we sang the second verse of this poem ( yes we sang a poem ) instead of the national Anthem . Of the 7 schools I went to this is the only one that did this .

    Hi D. Lynn, the closest I have ever been to Australia is the State of California, but by the last chorus I am singing along. Note: As someone else has commented, I strongly urge you to check out the Farewell Performance; you actually see them live.

    Just new to your channel. Thank you for that reaction, so respectful. This song isn’t practical for an anthem in its current form. Five verses is too long for many of the purposes that an anthem serves - imagine that playing at the Olympics every time Aussies won a swimming gold medal 😁. Rewriting to two verses and chorus, keeping the spirit of the five, would make a beautiful anthem, very fitting for a nation finally achieving independence. Please, and with great respect, Australians pronounce Aussies as Ozzies, not Ossies as Americans would do. Cheers.

    • @DLynn
      @DLynn  Год назад

      Perfect, thank you for the correction! My info came from the internet, and I certainly have no say in what qualifies for a national anthem. It was still a moving tune to me!

    • @Bellas1717
      @Bellas1717 Год назад

      @@DLynn Yes, it is beautiful. I teach it every year to new arrivals and it never gets stale. I think most Aussies would want it as a national anthem. We just would have to re-work it, and then go to referendum. It will probably happen when we vote on independence from Britain in a few years' time.

    Umm but sorry I have never heard it being replaced instead of our nation anthem plus this song is about how the people came to be in Australia its not one to be played at sporting events or on the podium sorry but it just wouldn’t fit.. there is nothing wrong with our anthem we have it’s about Australia advancing forward etc which is more suited.. while this is a beautiful song it’s not that kind of Anthem.. 😊🇦🇺
