LOL, your tackle box is bigger than the cleaning supply box. :) Thanks for sharing your walkthrough, I do live vicariously through your videos, thanks!
You are most welcome Robert....and yes, you are very observant, the tackle box, fly fishing gear, rods and reels do take up a fair bit of space but it is our main source of entertainment and even food supply while onboard. BTW cleaning too much is not good for your health , or so we have heard. The snack bin is also pretty full ( just saying!!!)
Another great video! Your walkthrough really shows the amount of storage space this size “trailerable” boat has to offer. You mentioned a possible lithium upgrade. I’m doing the same. You might want to give Epoch Marine battery a look. We love our R25. Thanks again.
Thanks . We just recently did a battery upgrade. Waiting for The next round to do lithium. Details will be in an upcoming video. We are very happy with the decision to upgrade. A bit longer to charge , but many more hours of use .
A few Q's for you, please: On a rough passage and/or rainy day, do the cockpit sole lockers stay dry inside? Which autopilot did you choose that you are installing now? Easy peasy DIY or difficult? What anchor line & chain sizes are you using? Can you offer an estimated NMPG figure for the 250 when on plane? And what wake-reduced hull speed does she have? Thanks for both these 'boat show' videos. As I mentioned in the Interior walk thru comment, we're considering a Cutwater 248 and both styles are a marvel of thoughtful engineering. Small cabin class 'motorboats', back in the 50's and 60's, used to be widely popular & relatively affordable. Don't know why that isn't true today.
Hi Jack, the port, starboard and centre cockpit lockers stay bone dry. in any condition. So far.. We are planning on installing the same autopilot as the ranger comes with. Garmin. It will not be fun. We are still using the same ground tackle that the boat came with. We did replace the bruce anchor with a rockna. At 29 knots I get 1.6 mpg. She makes a 1.5 foot wake when its fully loaded.
We didn’t order Radar on our R-23, either, but have installed it. Wouldn’t order one without it again. As I’m sitting here at the marina in Southport, NC, fog is rolling in.
Yes! We are now trying to get the auto pilot installed, and in hindsight probably should have ordered both the radar and auto pilot right from the start. We just had to try to stay within the budget when we purchased it new. Oh well.....
Thanks for the tour and all the inspiration. You both (or more) spend a LOT of time on the boat, how or why did you choose the 25" vs a slightly larger Ranger option?
Hi Don, sorry for the late reply. During covid our biz took a huge hit. WE sold a lot of our stuff to afford the R25 and we just could not afford the R27. We would have to buy a larger vehicle to pull it. We are very happy with the R25. And now that we can afford to upgrade we have decided to stick with the R25. It pulls like a dream on the Hwy.
After seeing this PENTHOUSE boat:) in person all i can say its a live aboard in comfort............Now when i saw that fish on his leg (tattoo) that spoke to the fisherman in me! .............im so torn between the XO defender 9, followed so closely by the regal 26 with folding tower........................outboards are the future!
What is the brand of the dinghy engine storage mount that you are using. And how did you install it. Looks like you have a steel plate supporting the fiber glass on the inside or the small storage closet
Richard, you are correct on the dinghy mount installation . Check out Episode 10 for details. We purchased it years ago in BC from a marina. Cannot remember the name....so sorry .
Great video! Do you store your Honda generator with fuel in it or do you run it dry before storing in your cockpit floor locker? Also, do you have the generator with a 30 amp plug to connect to your shore power cable, or use a 110 to 30 amp pigtail?
Love your videos, just had a question about your reserve engine. Say the main quit and you drop the reserve 9.9 long shaft in and start it up, how do you steer? Do you use the main engine as a rudder from the pilot house in the boat with the reserve fixed forward and the throttle open? Or would you you stand by on the platform to steer and operate the throttle? Maybe a dumb question but just wondering. Thanks again, Mike
Quick question, you mentioned running a generator. Are you, then, running a portable generator to charge house batteries? Thanks for sharing - currently looking into a Jeanneau 795.
Shame there’s no fish locker? Where do you store your catch until it’s processed? I don’t even see a good spot to mount a cooler that wouldn’t be in the way? Love the look of the ranger tug but wonder how it fishes. Thx
We have a large cooler bag that can hold fish to 4 feet. But if smaller fish we put them in the cooler on the roof rack. I normally clean fish right away.
I am just planning something similar in size and shape . According factory web site , dry ( no engine , no fluids) weight is 6500lbs. Do you have any estimation what is your real ( out of harbor) cruise weight ? Full tanks, cruise provisions , gear ? And , what is cruising speed with Y250? And , if not confidential, what is prop-size pushing all that ?
6500lbs includes the 250 hp outboard. We are very heavy in the water because all the equipment dive gear, etc. Really can't give you an accurate weight. Sorry.
I am curious to find out how you would operate the emergency outboard. I assume that you would have to operate it from the stern of the boat, that it does not have steering or throttle controls hooked to it to operate from the cockpit. Whats the plan there if I may inquire?
Great tour - really appreciate the “real world” perspective. You’ve made some great modifications too. What does the boat weigh for trailering purposes? Thx
Yea takes a 20 hp 4 stroke to do the same job the Mercury will do and its wise to have a USA made Ole Tech Engine to Back up the Pot Metal Over rated Yamahas, Yamahas built their reputation on 2 cycle engines their 4 strokes are extremely weak.
It is unbelievable how much you can do with a 25 foot boat. You two are amazing!
Well , we would't go quite that far, but we appreciate your kind words John! Thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice comment.
@expeditionseanest it's true. When arenyou doing interior walk thru?
Interior walk through is coming out Friday December 13, 2023 4 pm EST….tomorrow!111@@johnmango3347
Yeah, what @tmac709 said...That was a good thorough tour of the exterior of your Ranger Tug!😀

Great look at the R25. We like it. Thank you!!
Thanks for the support and positive feedback. We appreciate it.
What a nice boat!
Thanks CL we really love it!
Thanks for the tour or part one at least, looking forward to part two.
Thanks Michael we appreciate you taking the time to leave such positive feedback
Love the Rangers, wish I could get you guys to organize my office 😊. Safe travels.
Ha ha, Michael is actually the best organizer .....except in the kitchen , but nobody is perfect !

Very informative. Thanks for showing how you live on that beautiful boat!

great comprehensive tour! Thank you. I've been through the R25 at a boat show, but your "real life" tour is super helpful. Thanks' again.
Hi Jeff, so sorry for the late reply. Glad you enjoyed it.

Bahama Breeze is the best 👍
Really great video. Right to the point.
Glad you liked it. We appreciate the feedback Richard.
Amazing Ya all Rock Bravo Zulu.
Thanks Airmerchman!
Beautiful Boat!
Thank you very much!

Thanks Jordan. Glad you enjoyed it.
We did a 5% Limo tint on the skylights. Can still see out, but reduced UV coming in dramatically.
Great tip , thanks .

We store the generator with fuel in it. but close the vent. we use a 110 to 30 amp pigtail. Cheers, Mike
@@expeditionseanest Thank you for your helpful reply. Love your channel.
Thank you
You are most welcome!
I like your set up for storage on top of the cabin - lots of usable space ! I forgot , do you run a Rocna or Mantus anchor ?
We have a Rocna but feel that the Mantua is every bit as good.

Hi Michael, I use the main engine (250) as a rudder. then I can stay in the cabin.
Quick question, you mentioned running a generator. Are you, then, running a portable generator to charge house batteries? Thanks for sharing - currently looking into a Jeanneau 795.
oops, a little impatient. saw your comment about it. thanks again 🙂
Glad you found an answer to your question. All the best to you .l
I like the 25
So do we!

What isnyour anchor snubber on the windlass made out of?
Hey John, Its just an old 3/8 mooring line.
What camera brand are you using? For like your tour of the inside of the boat. Thanks.
Hi Gary, we use a Nikon Z8 and a wide angle lens. Won't buy any more go pros. they keep breaking down.
Thanks.

6500lbs includes the 250 hp outboard. We are very heavy in the water because all the equipment dive gear, etc. Really can't give you an accurate weight. Sorry.
"This is my get out of trouble" Mercury...how did that happen?
Well we haven' had to get out of trouble yet. But it's a good idea to have a back up .
I am curious to find out how you would operate the emergency outboard. I assume that you would have to operate it from the stern of the boat, that it does not have steering or throttle controls hooked to it to operate from the cockpit. Whats the plan there if I may inquire?
We set the throttle and lock the steering and use the 250hp to steer. If in tight surroundings I would trim up the 250 and steer with the 9.9hp
Great tour - really appreciate the “real world” perspective. You’ve made some great modifications too. What does the boat weigh for trailering purposes? Thx
I'm guessing around 6500 lbs dry.
Might want to take the fuel out of the sun.
Don't fill your gas can to the top and you can leave it I'm the sun. Use a good quality fuel cans as well. We have never had a fuel leak.
You are correct. We have a guiding biz. My 60hp 4 stroke merc is more powerful and faster than my 70hp 4 stroke yamaha.
