    Nothing beats the Trent/Severn waterway system in Ontario, Canada for a great boating vacation. Travel from Lake Ontario all the way to Georgian Bay passing through many lakes, rivers and locks. I've done it. An amazing trip.

    Nice job on your first video! I agree with the other folks about the music being a bit loud, but you'll find your footing on that.
    I'm curious about why you fueled up with road diesel as opposed to something without the road taxes? Maybe it was still cheaper than buying at the marina?

    • @Hop_Tug
      @Hop_Tug  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for giving it a look! It’s been my experience that road diesel is still cheaper than a marina markup. We’ve occasionally found some very cheap diesel (stay tuned for the Isle Royale episode) but it’s rare. I guess I could go to a truck stop and get refer diesel for less?

    • @Hop_Tug
      @Hop_Tug  10 месяцев назад +1

      The boat is 12-13k lbs, the trailer is another 2-3k lbs. It takes a big pickup to do it, but it’s definitely doable! Oversize permits is probably the biggest hassle of it all.

    • @lauramurray6690
      @lauramurray6690 10 месяцев назад

      @Hop_Tug 16 on a 12k hitch is brave. But I've done it. FYI not sure what the start width is but when I move my father in laws boat at 12 ft we need the over size banner and becon front and back. And watch the road times

  • @sergeolchowec905
    @sergeolchowec905 11 месяцев назад +1

    Quick question, do you have to go into commercial truck weight stations towing this oversize?

    • @Hop_Tug
      @Hop_Tug  11 месяцев назад +2

      I always do. Some weigh stations have electronic signs that will inform you to enter, other have signs posted that say “all vehicles over xx lbs”
      I’ve heard some folks say we don’t need to do it if we’re not commercial, but I’ve never had an issue.

  • @paulb6161

    Do you know the GVWR on your trailer? We have restrictions in Florida that other states don’t have. If the sum of the truck and trailer GVWR is over 26k, you have to have a CDL.

    So you put on the oversized banner. So admitted you new you are to wide . I hope you looked into each state you go to. Because depending on the width you needed a becon on the front and back . Some states like n.y and mass are stickler.

    • @Hop_Tug
      @Hop_Tug  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, thanks for watching and for your concern. I’d hoped the video would convey the efforts I went through to ensure we were operating legally. I can assure you that we had permits for each state and they were adhered to fully if not more conservatively. Beacons are not required for a load this size in MN or WI. As I read it, the oversize banner isn’t even required in MN for this size load.

    Why are you stopping at weight stations? If it's personal?

    • @Hop_Tug
      @Hop_Tug  2 месяца назад

      I pull over depending on what the sign says - sometimes they say “all vehicles over xxx lbs” or it’s a digital sign that specifically directs me to exit for the station. I figure it’s better to stop when unnecessary vs the other way around!

      @stevenhorwood1300 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Hop_Tug get a good wet wet and tongue weight. Don’t go less than 10% so you need more tongue weight especially with a single wheel rear axle. I think you are correct, 1400 to 15000 wet. Question does the permit sign on the front bumper rub at all. Keep posting content. We plan to be doing similar routes starting summer 2024 in a R29CB.
