It's simple really, critics don't have a fucking clue what they're talking about. You just have to look at the disparity between critic and audience scores on rotten tomatoes to see that, a lot of critics allow their pockets and political opinions to influence their reviews, and they often aspire to swim in the circles of utmost snobbery which is why they always find some convoluted way to explain why they don't like a particular thing and throw disproportionate praise towards anything "stunning and brave". This song is one of the classic Bond themes, probably somewhere around 5th place, critics are morons.

Nir Z! I remember watching Casino Royale in the theaters and knew the title sequence was coming and braced myself for some campy type song…then this played, and I was blown away!
The Bond portrayed here aligns with the Ian Fleming Bond, a deadly character.
Rip chris. You're one of those artist I regret not discovering when you were alive.
Well said

Why in the hell does everyone seem to think this amazing, very talented, best lookin man in the world is high? I'm not seeing it and no, it's not because I'm high too! He's absolutely amazing in every sense of the word!!!!♥♥♥
Ken Andrews from Failure on guitar! He also recorded Chris's vocals for this song in his studio and is credited in the production of this song.
I dont think he looks weird, I think it was a great performance. Love Chris Cornell!

It's not just about his singing skills but it's also about HOW he sang.. You can feel his emotions and meaning through his body aswell.. he did it beautifully there.
Singing and acting together.
