I had a 150/100 BP at age 50. I was put on three BP meds to bring it down: 100 mg Losartan, 12.5 mg Hydrochlorothiazide and 10 mg Amlodipine. I decided to take charge to try and lower my BP without meds. I started a diet almost 13 months ago (Jan 2, 2020). Since that time, I shed 44 pounds (224 to 180 pounds) by doing one meal a day (OMAD) taken in the late afternoon and I cut my carbohydrates (no processed food, no potatoes, no rice and no bread) and increased good fats. I was able, under physician supervision, to cut back my blood pressure medications to only 50 mg Losartan (I discontinued the other two). Thirteen months later, I feel great and my BP is now in the order of 120/80. This is my personal story.

I'm age 84 and my nurse recently told me that I have the blood pressure of a teenager. Over several decades I've lost over 110 lbs (now 152). In the past couple of years I've stopped eating all grains, grain products, sugar, and starches. I also water fast for 4 consecutive days each month (for autophagy). This has solved my weight and BP problem. I eat all the greens, legumes, eggs, poultry, nuts, and cold ocean fish that I want. My wife adds pork to cooked veggies for flavor. I also take methylene blue (in water) twice a day. I don't advocate my lifestyle for anyone but it seems to work for me.

That is brilliant! I especially like the 4-day / month fasting routine idea. I believe this is critical to good health and longevity and also allows the mind a certain clarity the likes of which is almost supernatural... but only achieved with fasting for long period. 👍

I recently had a problem with blood pressure. I’m in my 60’s and never had a issue before. I was having spikes of 189/100 and running to the ER a lot. I discovered that it was being caused by my thyroid! My levels were over the top! I was having heart problems, weight loss, anxiety, hair loss and blood pressure spikes! My cardiologist put me on two different kinds of blood pressure medication. I did some research on my own and found that Ceylon cinnamon helps regulate blood pressure. It also regulates blood sugar. So I took the initiative to purchase some of the special cinnamon, and start taking it every day and a cup of decaffeinated tea in the morning. Well, to my surprise, my blood pressure started coming down to the point where I had to stop the blood pressure medication’s. This is what I intended to do anyway! Also, once my thyroid was regulated properly with the proper dose, my blood pressure and all other problems resolved. So I think it’s important to let people know that some blood pressure issues can be resolved in an all natural way. And it’s best to do some of your own research unless you don’t mind being on pharmaceuticals for the rest of your life. Most people continue to take prescription drugs, without really looking into what the other options may be.

I tried different diets but what helped me (as I got older) was FASTING, which in a way is the opposite of all of this dieting. I have better blood pressure now at 82 than in my 40's. I think that reduction of sugar and meditation have also been helpful.

Finally we took action and went on a strict no sugar diet eating only home cooked meals, walking every day for at least 30 minutes and taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water first thing in the morning and a glass of apple cider with two tablespoons at night and wow! Starting losing weight lowering blood pressure and eliminating blow-ding

Thank you so much doctor, for taking the time, to give us so much, good, free information. I never had high blood pressure, even when I was 63 years Young. It wasn't until a brain tumor was removed and my whole system went wacko. With the grace of God. I am now 71. I refused to take drugs. I control my blood pressure with food. I do a lot of smoothies. Celery ,apples, bananas, beets, kale lots of greens, cucumbers, kiwi, so many other foods can lower blood pressure. Salmon 2x a week, chicken and bison. Too bad you're so far from Tucson Arizona. I would be so happy to make you my chiropractor. God bless you.

Plus we're luckier than Americans with our foods. The EU banned so much that gets added to their food. Colourings, flavourings, sugar, preservatives etc - he's right! Don't eat boxed stuff made in a factory or fast food kitchen - and make your own bread. It's even illegal to advertise pharma drugs over here. I don't know the names of any drugs, nor what they're for, nor if one is supposed to be better than the other!

My husband and I were born in the early 50’s. At that time, the food pyramid recommended grain above all else. We grew up on baloney sandwiches on white bread. Our parents were happy with that and we were happy with that. Decades later we find out that the food pyramid was all wrong. So now my husband is a type 2 diabetic that required bypass surgery. Luckily, he’s much better now.

Thank you from the UK. Before watching your videos. I have been on a lettuce, cucumber and salad diet. My blood sugars have dropped and now need to control my bp. I have got it down to 145/85 from 180/85 still a way to go but, I've always tried to eat healthy as often and not too much of anything. I think stress and genetics being a 53 old. Too much stress/cortisol in the blood can cause many problems. So I do a lot of fasting these days and only have 1 large salad and no other meals. Like I say, too early for big results but the diet is working. God bless you all 🙏 oh by the way. I've deleted all the people who cause me stress and blocked their numbers. I now limit my connections, as family and certain people are the greatest stress makers ever! 😊

I am 70 years old, diabetic for nearly 24 years. Initially I had pills to contol my blood sugar. Also consume less carbs. Since abour five years ago, I realized that carbs are the underlying diabetic problem. I am on low carb high fat diet now, my blood glucose is at normal, HbA1c 5.4%, and usually will measue blood pressure systolic below 120mmHg, and diastolic below 80mmHg. I feel very fine, just feel much better.

Now I'm 37, sometimes my bp reach 170/100+ and I on and off my medicine. Based on my experience, bad diet, lack of exercise and stress really contribute to hpb. My grandpa, aunts and mother died in stroke/ hearth attack in their 50's.
And I still trying to find/search a cause or cure, thinking I might have atherosclerosis and the like. I have been in many internist and medicine is the best they can give. Thanks doc Story, now I accept the truth maybe our genetics is the culprit like you said.

I very much believe in what you said, it is absolutely true.
My father had a bypass at 75 and his father had a heart attack at 75, my elder brother had a heart attack at 48 and I had a heart attack at 48.
I play field hockey and have played professional hockey, I still play hockey and I am fit.
I also work out in the gym but I still had a heart attack, infact just a week before I had a heart attack I had a blood test done and my GP said my cholesterol, sugar and everything is normal, I played a game one day and came home had a shower and had dinner and then went to sleep, I woke up with stomach pain which wasn't going so I drove to the emergency and they checked my blood pressure it was 160 they then did a ECG and the doctor said I had a heart attack send it was a couple of days ago which I wasn't aware of, they immediately rushed me to the Cardiac centre and I found out I had a block and they put a stent in me.
It's been a year now after my surgery and I am off blood thinner and cholesterol tablet, my cardiologist was so happy with my progress that he wanted to know what I was doing.
I changed my diet, no sugar maybe something sweet I eat is if there was hidden sugar.
    Cut down on red meat.
I eat fish and chicken but cut down my quantity.
I eat a lot of fruits
I eat a lot of nuts.
Avacado at least 3 times a week.
Exercise at least 30 minutes everyday.
    Play hockey twice a week.
    Thank you for your video.

I have studied my BP for 9+ years. It is difficult to make definite statements of what causes changes in my BP since it varies throughout the day and can change significantly within 5 minutes. Anyone taking BP meds should study their BP to ensure the meds are effective and the timing of taking them is optimum for controlling the BP throughout the day. Here are a few observations:
    1. Which meds to take is important to controlling BP. Recently, I had very high BP readings in the AM. I changed my diuretic from HCTZ to CTD. It resulted in lowering my BP throughout the day. I take Enalapril and CTD. My BP average is around 134/70 with some readings being below 120/70.
    2. Eating a meal that is high in sodium may result in high BP readings a few hours later.
    3. Some stresses and pains can result in high BP readings. Kidney stones can cause serious BP readings. Stomach discomfort may cause high BP readings.
    4. Exercise and warm baths may lower BP readings for a period of time.
    5. Wrist BP monitors may not be accurate at high BP readings.

I think had a HB all my life. From 4 yo people brought me many times on my way to kindergarten to the pharmacy for my heavy nosebleeds. I always used to look at my handkerchief after sneezing. I found out that my mam was carrying during the last months of the war, being born on July14 1945 . people were starving from hunger and of course I had malnutrition. Later when I was 59 yo I had a sitting job and started to have nosebleeds during 20 min. or more, about 4 times a day.
It started with medication for peeing more, but after 3 years I was on medication with 7 different pills, without proper results. I had severe gout problems and after my first pill for lowering my cholesterol (vastatines) I was so sick of that pill, I decided to stop with all pills. that resulted in an attack of gout, I'll never forget; but I never took pills anymore for the last 8 years. My BP is 105 over 180/200 and feeling very healthy. Now 76yo.

I also remember to walk 20-30 minutes after meal. To get better health including blood pressure, I don’t drink coke, Pepsi and other sugar sweetened beverages too. As a result, No health concerns and never think about blood pressure and glucose because I mostly find my blood pressure in the range of 72-75/113-115. My age is 49. I've been keto since before it had a name. In my late 30s, my pressure started to go wild, up sometimes, low sometimes. I've been really watching it since about age 44, when my mom died with a few things, including years of hypertension and diabetes. The only positive change I'd make now with my diet is to drink more water, and maybe switch to pescatarian diet. As of now, I eat fish, poultry and meats, but gradually cutting back on red meat. If there's any seasoning that is beneficial to my plight, I might continue eating all meat, tbh.

They all smoked and drank, and had sedentary lifestyles plus their diets were awful. So I decided at a young age to not drink, smoke or eat processed foods and sugar. I stay active, I eat a healthy diet, lots of greens, sprouts, fruits and lean meats. If I want something sweet I eat dark chocolate. I also eat beets or take beet root powder, eat a lot of garlic, take potassium/magnesium, and drink hibiscus tea. Also half a grapefruit per day. I passed all of their ages (so far) and hopefully will be around to spend time with my grandkids for a long time.

#2 Is my primary cause, my whole life until my mom died, I had low blood pressure, so low I would faint. After she died I realized I got more and more inclined to doing bad things for my health. (all my life I was worried she might die, and she was not sick or anything, my parents divorced when I was 3 and I was terrified I'd be left to fate if I lost my mom. I got more and more tense as a young woman and when she died in my 40's, thank God I had a new baby when she died, it left me feeling lost and afraid. Breaking up nuclear families is the cause so many men and women get this problem far more than before, and women, who usually never had the problem at all, once they decided they'd rather work than be mothers and caregivers, they became horribly unhappy and we see cortisol levels skyrocket, along with Type 2 diabetes, which is what happened to my single working mom. BUT she always had low blood pressure her whole life. Maybe because she became a cat lady, it was actually good for her, health-wise, but terrible for everyone around her....my siblings stopped visiting her. BUT...low blood pressure!!)

I have done the Kitogenic type of diet with intermittent fasting but the most effective thing I have found is what you talked about in one of your videos about walking. I found that as food is concerned for some crazy reason I done better with eating eggs. Then walking for about one to two hours everyday. That brings down my blood sugar between 80 to 90 sometimes even as low as 70s plus that's when my blood pressure also comes down under 120/80 yet it's always a bit higher in the mornings when I get up. One of the hardest things I am struggling with is that because of all my bad habits in the past my high blood sugar and blood pressure did some damage to my kidneys and so I am trying to now reduce the foaming and I don't know if I will ever be able to fix that yet I am working hard to healing my body. Of course the first thing I did was stop process foods because that box saying is 100% true. I have a record I have kept of my progress. Oh yes I also fixed my high cholesterol issue just by doing what I am doing it seems like it's all really interconnected and in my situation it was my poor lifestyle lack of exercise and terrible eating habits. I have to now return to see my doctor soon and hope for a really good reexamination. Thanks for what you share I am watching and listening.

Ok, you say that age is an important factor for high blood pressure. At almost 74 years of age, I still have around 120/70 in blood pressure. Maybe because I am 182 cm (5feet 11.5 inches) and weigh only 72kg (about 160pounds). However, I have never (almost) eaten processed food. I smoked 20 cigs / day until 45 years old, drink wine every week but rarely spirits. Exercises intensively 20 min / 3-4 times a week. Have never taken medication or been really sick. Greetings from Sweden.

I like the Mediterranean diet and a diet specifically suited to your Blood Type. Also highly beneficial is anti inflammatory, gluten free and organic foods.

Walk in the sunshine whenever you can. If it's not sunny, bundle up. Just walk! (My BP goes up when I feel confined.)

hey vlady, that's not a bloody suggestion, but utterly correct,
      in cold, wintry, dark weather,
the more one has to get out,
or else, it can result into being
a couch potato and that's no brainer.

This is what has worked to resolve my hypertension and the weight loss has easy:
    1. Ketogenic diet.
    2. Daily intermittent fasting, mostly 18/6 and sometimes 23/1.
    3. Prolonged fasting about 7-10 days 3 times a year.
    4. Weight lifting.
    5. Walking.
I'm in my mid 50's and can fit into my high school clothes. From the mid 30'5 to late 40's I was borderline obese.
Best wishes to all of you on your quest for better health and quality of life.

I agree... intermittent fasting for 15-16 hours a day makes me feel wonderful. I just don't get hungry, and I control my body.

Thank you. I’m just starting this journey. I’ll be doing Keto Diet and Fasting. This will be difficult for me because my memory is fading now and I forget things a lot. I live alone so I won’t have help. But I have to try or I will have a heart attack. My father had triple heart surgery and passed away in 2017.
