I was on my 3rd day of a water fast with electrolytes when I saw Dr. Shawn Baker's talk with Dr. August Dunning on dry fasting. I was delighted to hear of a way to shorten my fast because I had something going on that I was tired of dealing with. It was inflammation in my neck, and I feel certain it stemmed from a root canal, which I did have it pulled, recently, and wanted to hurry up the process of healing. I immediately ventured into a 7 day dry fast. Yes, it was tough the last 2 days, but I stuck it out. Being an RN, I was able to monitor myself closely. I came out it of extremely slow... melting ice in my mouth, and finally, in a few hours, I started drinking a little at a time. Beef bone broth the next day... advancing to soft boiled eggs and so on. The fast did the job. I don't think I will ever do that again... at least not for 7 days stretch. I'm 68 and on no meds. Being that dehydrated is nothing to play with.

If you are a Nurse, would you be allowing any patients to do dry Fast for 7 days DURING HOT SUMMER when dehydration can cause Stroke and Heart Attacks in seemingly Healthy individuals? Would you allow as a Nurse to do Dry Fast after a Surgery which needs healing afterwards and without consulting your Surgeon who did the Surgery? (Assume your Oral Surgery Doctor or Periodontist or Dentist did allow you personally to specifically do DRY FAST DURING HOT SUMMER DAYS). Have you ever met a Surgeon who would recommend a Dry Fast after surgery for Healing Inflammatory response? If so, what types of Surgery Doctors really recommend DRY FAST after their surgery and where did they get their degrees and what Body part do they perform their surgeries?

50 years ago I embarked on a 2 week distilled water fast. Day number 6 the psoriasis I had totally covering both my arms from elbow to shoulder completely resolved after 2 years of suffering with it. A dermatologist told me it was autoimmune and I would just have to live with it and use cortisone cream. It has never resurfaced and now I wonder if the fast repaired a mitochondrial malfunction?

That's why I like this channel. Honest opinion. I seen a Video stating one shot clears clogged arteries. Total lies and they don't care. Thank you Dr. Brewer for being honest. This honestly keeps me watching. We know the fastest way to clear your arteries is fasting.
I watched your earlier videos where you talked about your personal lifestyle changes you made and I adopted that policy myself. And doing so I am a healthy person today. A lot of my personal health improvement came when I switched to a vegetarian diet.
Anyone looking for a best meal for health. Eat raw vegetables. Didn't say it was enjoyable (make an awesome salad) but it can grow on you once you start seeing results.
It's not a all or nothing diet. Maybe the most important thing with diet is just staying away from certain foods. Eat natural foods that come from the ground.

My 85 years of experience suggests that without sports and a moderate Mediterranean diet, we will not see happiness :-). Before the first meal (around 12.00) I swim about 1.5 km in open water in winter and summer, interspersed with 20 km of road bike at least 2 times a week. The second meal is at 19.00-20.00. Weight about 78 kg. with a height of 181. Previously, I adhered to the 5-2 mode. But on the advice of Dr. Longo, I refused, because I was already over 70, and even that regime caused misunderstanding among my entourage, especially in the tavern. Doctors do not complain about my health.

I've been Keto/Ketovore for several years. Other RUclips influencers also recommend Fasting. The one that works best for me, a 72 year-old female, about 235 lbs, is an 18 hour fast at least once or twice a week. One influencer said one doesn't really get or feel good effects of Fasting unless one goes at least 18 hours. Since I eat nutrient dense, high Carnivore-type meals, I can easily do 12 hours without batting an eye, and only start getting hungry after 16 hours. I just grit my teeth for the remaining two hours before eating a lean, high protein snack, then an hour later a full meal. I've tried a 12 hour Dry Fast, and I did lose a couple of pounds, but not sure if that was water, muscle, fat or whatever. Will do that only occasionally if feeling too bloated for too long. Totally agree about taking Electrolytes. Had a PE and resultant heart attack 9 years ago, and found out the hard way that I couldn't do more than an 8 hr. Fast without feeling terrible. Felt much better taking Electrolytes and now can go on longer if I take them during an 18+ hour Fast. May also take Black Coffee (with a few drops of Stevia); Green Tea and occasionally a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water, if I really feel the need to put something in my mouth during a Fast, but since acclimated to Fasting, I rarely now use those crutches.

I remember, a 14-16 fast was totally normal in my chiclhood. We had dinner at 17 and breakfast at 7 on weekends at 9. It is just now that people belive they could not survive without snacking. A healty baby over 4 kg normally eats not more often than 4 hours because he is not hungry. An adult has much more reserv to survive 4 hours without eating!

I ate some boiled cabbage and a few hours later I feel great. Give up a little sleep and feel great later after you get some great results. Personally, I don't fast for more than two days. I don't know why my heart flutters; palpitations I think they call it but don't risk your health trying to get healthy. just do what you can. A 2 day+ fast is much more healing than a one day if your body can handle it. Raw vegetables are also very healing. You could try Camomile tea, it helps. I think.

The info given by Dr. Brad Stanfield relating to the supposed ineffectiveness of IF relative to simple caloric restriction was concerned only with weight loss. The results he presented did not talk about or address in any way the other - and frankly, much more important - health factors such as: allowing insulin levels to stabilize, allowing the body simply to 'rest' and clean out (almost always ignored by health pundits these days), promotion of autophagy (and thus associated benefits as outlined in this video regarding cardio health), promotion of stem cell growth and growth hormone increase, promotion of BDNF in the brain....etc., etc. It's almost as if there is a concerted effort by the mainstream medical crowd to 'diss' fasting and intermittent fasting...and any cheap, natural health practice that interferes with the whole pharmaceutical intervention industry. IF and fasting, along with exercise, are, should be, the two fundamental pillars of any health regime. In a better world, these two would be trumpeted from the proverbial rooftops by governmental health ministries around the world. Instead, we see, now that they have gained so much popularity, deliberate attacks upon these pillars of wisdom by mainstream medicine. Quel surprise.

People find it difficult to regularly fast/Time Restricted Eating because they are addicted to eating because they driven by their hormones to eat. A diet of carbohydrates/sugar can be addictive. Fasting may not trigger autophagy if the insulin and or cortisol hormone levels are elevated. The other challenge is that autophagy levels are dependent on how healthy the immune system is working. Lack of electrolyte when breaking a fast can put a risk of a heart attack when breaking a fast known as the refeeding syndrome. Meal to reduce CVD is to maximize Omega3 and minimizes Omega6 and carbohydrates. Fasting limit carbs and the production of lipid/triglycerides/fats in the blood. Omega 3 helps remove LDL cholesterol used to patch up arterial blockage and inflammation.

I'm waiting on the CAC to see how much damage I'm left with after 58yrs of sweets and carbs. Trying to convince Canadian docs I want the CIMT first, but it's like pulling teeth. They immediately scheduled me for the CTA which I cancelled. I've been wise about carbs and toying with the idea of going keto with complex carbs only around my resistance training., seems doable. Dr. Brewer, you seem athletic, have you played pickleball? It's like free exercise, love it

(thicker or thickening is bad) . 14-15 means some days he fasts 14 hours or 15 hours. Pickleball is a silly court and ball game that is all the rage with the chronically online. MFP is probably My Fitness Pal, an app that can help you track calories or macros (Protein/Fat/Carbohydrate).

I did a lot of intermittent fasting coupled with HIIT trying to get rid of my visceral fat. I thought my body would be intelligent enough to feed off the fat in my middle rather than go for my muscle. It did the opposite. In just a couple of weeks (I am a lean person), it depleted my muscles to the extent that I had to get specially cushioned footwear and fat, memory foam cushions to sit on, because it felt that i was walking and sitting on my bones. Belly fat reduced, but it was far from exhausted, for my body to pull such a thing on me. I believe my heart muscle also suffered, because I developed AFib. I have been on a low-carb diet for a month now and got back some of my muscle. There is left bundle branch blockage in my heart and I am trying to remedy it as much as possible by doing fasting, low carb and high protein plus fat, before my cardiologist's appointment next week when I will get a verdict about medication (hope to avoid or minimise), and hopefully, no procedure.

Wow!! Excellent video!! Would you ever consider employing wellness coaches so your subscribers can call in and get the necessary encouragement to stay on track? I personally think that would be extremely beneficial. On an unrelated matter, I enjoyed seeing the USS Midway during your jog. Just curious, what’s the bandage for on your neck, thanks again for great content. Oh by the way, I’m not surprised at the American Heart Association report, knowing how profitable it is for organizations due to the extremely unhealthy habits of Americans. Hello
I was wondering about salt ?
A lot of people recommend salt and I can't seem to have any if I do my eyes get really puffy and I feel tired ...
    What do you recommend ?
A lot of people recommend lots of salt eating this way .keto what is the truth ?
I eat low carb like you .
I noticed if I'm vegan eating non processed foods nuts and seeds it's ok to have a pinch or two .
But if I eat meat I don't require salting if I do salt it's too much .
I read that meats and animal products have high sodium already .
The times I have salted too much morninga powder helps me get rid of it .
Please don't ignore my comment lots of other channels ignore this question .
I know one carnivore girl on here doesn't recommend salt ..she's probably the most famous carnivore on RUclips .
But she did make A video about not salting her meats because it causes her to feel fatigue .
    Thank you In Advance
    I do fast Omad
I use 8 parts moringa to 1 part salt ground in a coffee grinder .
    But I only take 1/64 a tsp .
    I may experiment with 4 parts to 1 .
Because if I have more than that I feel my sodium goes low so perhaps I need tiny bit more sodium fasting .
Ill only use at the most 1/32 tsp of this fasting powder I make .
If I have salt while fasting I get very sick and bloated and hold water .
I read a hindu fasting guide from the 30 s and it says not to take salt alone on a Fast ..and to replenish with foods that have sodium . Yogurt cheeses and such
