I reckon they realised by all of the comments, that in the wrong hands the QR code could cause you a lot of pain. The fact that the code couldn’t be changed was the clincher. Of course they could bring it back if they allowed you to generate a different code each time.
Good, I've never used it, and now that you mentioned I don't remember seeing the last time I was searching something so I think it's been removed.

I'm going to say that you get what you pay for. Stopped with the firestick last year. Bought a Nvidia Shield Pro. It's true the shield is more expensive than the stick, but I use it everyday and it works way better than the Stick. I won't be going back to the stick..ever.

I have the Fire Cube and I find that Amazon removed some 3rd party apps. I won't mention them but I was able to reload them

Yes, and I am glad they removed it. I use their Fire TV app, which the QR code broke it. Hopefully, it stays gone.
I like the q r code, it was easy to use
Never buying another Firestick! I’m looking at the options now to get other products and dump these.
Google chromecast @ £35 does the same job.

Yes, it has been removed. Maybe they gave it some thought and realized it might be more harmful than good.
