The dream cast may have failed to the media , but not to us 90s gamers
If you are going to use my video footage of the Virtual Boy (and put me in your video) at least do the cutesy of crediting my RUclips channel. Thanks.

Damn
Damn no need to be salty dude.
Don’t be a lil bitch dude
What? Why isn't the Atari Jaguar on this list? Its downfall took the whole company down with it!
To be honest, every system after the Atari 2600 was a failed system as they competed to Nintendo and Sega, lost to them every time as people preferred and bought those consoled so they had no choice but to close down after many failures I believe.
That's indeed correct. Even in the 2600 days, it royally screwed us over with its lame version of Pac-Man and that E.T. game, both of which could have served as torture devices.
I feel that the Atari 2600 is so outdated compared to todays standards.
True
Add the Atari Lynx, too.
I own a dreamcast too and it was a neat console back in its days, though shops weren selling much for it...though i enjoyed playing Skies of Arcadia...awesome
I want never considered a Sega Dreamcast a failure I thought that was a good system I own one and when I had it I love the system
I agree to the max, though I am a young kid, I am a large fan of sega and I always research about sonic and sega, and yes I know the tragedy of the Archie comics discontinue, the horror of the beast so sonic O6, and the great story behind sonic mania. I am a young and sort of smart sega fan, but just because sega isn't holding doesn't mean it's a failure, and yeah STOP TALKING SH*T ABOUT THE DREAMCAST. (Damn top freaking 10s)
Very good console, but commercially it was a failure. People simply stopped buying it once the PS2 came out. Still... with all of Sega's mistakes leading up to the Dreamcast's demise, at least they went out with a bang. Dreamcast is one of my favorite consoles of all time :)
Nathaniel Liboon Sega fucked around, and got fucked.
There are 3 reasons the Dreamcast failed.
1. No built-in broadband or cable modem.
2. No DVD Player (like the PlayStation 2).
3. Lack of stable third party support (thanks mainly to Sony’s marketing muscle with the PS2).
I also owned a Dreamcast with a few sports games.
That's true the Sega Dreamcast didn't have any of his stuff the PlayStation 2 had but I still think it was a good system Playstation 2 probably had a hell of a lot better games for it
"Xbox One, I guess."
The Dreamcast is still my favorite game console. And I have a Wii, Xbox 360, PS2, and 3DS XL (not the New one with the extra analog stick). Yes, I have no latest gen consoles. The only one I actually want is the Switch. Otherwise, I'm fine playing Minecraft and Skyrim on Xbox 360 and DDR Extreme 2 (my favorite DDR game) on PS2. Even so, Mario Kart Wii doesn't come close to Acclaim's Re-Volt Dreamcast port or the original Soul Caliber. I'm glad the Dreamcast now has a large cult following. Even if it did fail, the only reason why is because it inherited the Sega of the Saturn, which wasn't a very popular system to begin with. It was also heavily overshadowed by the PS2 and eventually the GameCube. Now that people remember the Dreamcast and how amazing it actually was, I've seen people making fan-made startup animations for the "Dreamcast 2" that we all know will unfortunately never exist. SEGA PLEASE CHANGE OUR MINDS! And please keep the Dreamcast controller design, but make it wireless, because if you don't everyone will look at you weird.
I can see Trevor philips industries branched out to consoles
THE MAD SYSTEM.
It probably ran on a Mr razzberry jam cpu

I never forgave Sega for discontinuing the Dreamcast.
After lackluster support--followed by discontinuation--of every piece of hardware that SEGA released from 1990 onward, everyone in gaming knew that Dreamcast was already on deathwatch before the console was even released in Japan. All it managed to accomplish was to kill off the Saturn in Japan--the one market where the 32-bit beast was still doing well.
It was Sega of Japan that went completely insane in the 1990s and started forcing their Japan-centric decisions on the rest of the world, resulting in the company nearly going out of business.
Thats a Neo Geo CD, not a AES.
The Dreamcast looked like it failed but the ps2 discontinued it.
Sega needs to make a Sega Dreamcast 2.
They won't, they can't compete anymore.
GreenLight Productions Who says?
Sega gave up after the Dreamcast. Their marketing tactics sucked, they had little faith in this console, and they prefer to forget it even exists now. Sega itself as a third party company is dying now, too, so I think it's safe to say that unfortunately, Sega is on its way out. I think many of us have accepted that a Dreamcast 2 is never going to happen. Unless Sega makes some unexpected move that has a 0.01% chance of happening...
Warrior Cats of MysteryClan I hope sega Dosen't die we've already lost telltale
Dustin Nunn yeah they're not making consoles anymore
Ouya, more like screw ya

The dreamcast is the console that made Sega fall , doesn't means it is worse than the others consoles in this list , i'll even say that the dreamcast is the best console in this list
The Dreamcast didn't made Sega fall.
"Dreamcast was a phenomenal 18 months of pain, heartache, euphoria... We thought we had it," he said.
"But then PlayStation came out... And of course, EA didn't publish which left a big hole, not only in sports but in other genres. We ended up that Christmas period not being able to get to where we needed to be - we weren't far short, we just couldn't get that critical mass."
In other words, Moore explained, SEGA Japan set a target that just couldn't be reached. "I can't remember the exact figures - but we had to make N hundreds of millions of dollars by the holiday season, and shift N millions of units of hardware, otherwise we just couldn't sustain the business.
"So on January 31st 2001 we said SEGA is leaving hardware - somehow I got to make that call, not the Japanese. I had to fire a lot of people, it was not a pleasant day."
According to Moore, there was no way the Dreamcast could compete with PS2 by this stage - so a tough decision had to be made. "SEGA had the option of pouring in more money and going bankrupt and they decided they wanted to live to fight another day," he stated. "So we licked our wounds, ate some humble pie and went to Sony and Nintendo to ask for dev kits."
Cd, 32 x and Saturn made it fall
Then in that case,America is my city
I used to have a dreamcast and a Nintendo 64
I have both
Cool! I never played Dreamcast. I have a 64 from my friend
Niko Bellic IS THERE A EASTER EGG IN GTA IV FOR IT
Niko Bellic eh niko so you play games too instead of stealing cars and killing people
OMG YOU GOT NINTENDO N64 OH GOD THIS AMAZING but a question how did you get it
I'll never forget playing SNES at a display case at Circuit City back in the early 90s.
i remember when i got my dreamcast for christmas, i wasnt sure how to hold the controler because of the cable coming from the back of it so i had to found the manual (i mean who reads those we all just leave them on the bottom of the box)
Why does this guys deadass sounds like a bit more classy Peter Griffin?
What about the Sega Saturn? that thing FLOPPED hard in the late 90s.
ShinChanLover TV Not in Japan.
Voivodian 83 good point, it did better there. But the dreamcast did have more sales than the saturn
Sega Saturn was the first console I ever owned and I loved it
I remember playing nights on it which came out on Dreamcast too I believe it's on PS now too
I have the Saturn and I love it. It's the best arcade-feeling ever. No machine can give me such an arcade-feeling like this.
I'm glad that the Wii U isn't on this although that was an Epic Fail for Nintendo back in 2012-2016
Compared to the others on this list, Wii U didn't do that bad. It was still a flop though, just not as bad.
It has amazing games tho like smash Bros Mario kart super Mario 3D world, slapttoon Zelda remakes, I could go on. I got a Wii U instead of switch for vc and backwards comparability.
*compatability
I already have a Wii and a lot of stuff on Wii U are wanted are coming to Switch so.
It sold horribly, it should've been here.
The dream cast was not a fail it just couldn’t compete with the ps2
True
My sons still have their Dreamcast and a buttload of games. I won't let them part with it. We've had all of the Playstations, and a few Nintendo's, but the DC is still my favorite. I can play Sega Bass Fishing anytime I want with the fishing controller...dig it. My boys, 28 and 20 yrs old, still enjoy playing Powerstone 1 and 2. Great games that I wish would come to the PS4.
Try not to download everything at once 😂
I grew up with a WII
Me two I LOVED IT
I never had any consoles growing up but I have a Wii U now
My first ever was a Gameboy Advance.
Raven world me too (3!
Raven World same
I expected the number 1 was going to be the R-Zone.
Dreamcast chan:I’m not a failed video game console
Ah, the Dreamcast. You launched Sonic's 3D career, though I never had one(my first console was a PS2)
Wh... w h a t ? !
The Dreamcast is amazing! How--- What---
The Ouya is tehnically not a console, just a Crossy Road machine
Used to have a vectrex lol man I haven't seen one of those since 1987
I wonder what the next video game evolution will be. There was cartridge to disc then memory cards to internal harddrives.
No WiiU. No Jaguar. No PS Vita. NO 32X (WITCH WAS PLANNED TO BE A SEPERATE SYSTEM CALLED THE NEPTUNE) FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, AND NO SEGA SATURN, WHICH WAS EVEN MORE OF A MONUMENTAL DISASTER FOR SEGA! WHAT!? Im not saying that the list of games are bad, but your'e missing some really really big mishaps.
The Wii U wasn't a failure. The PS Vita is still in development. The Atari Jaguar wasn't a failure either in the early years of video gaming. Same as the Sega 32X. The Sega Saturn was hard to manufacture, but it still sold well for sega.
Yes, but not in todays standards. The WiiU was Nintendo's worst selling console (unless you count the Virtual Boy as a console (it was marketed as portable) to date. It was marketed poorly like the PS3 witch was its main point of failure. But the PS3 was succesful of course. And as you said, the 32X was not a failure at first. But it was meant to keep the genesis alive. There was a point when game stores were selling 32Xs at $20.00 because no one would buy them (in comparison to the $150.00 launch price). And yes, the Sega Saturn was still a good sell for sega, but it absolutely sold worse than the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast was not a complete failure. It was simply outweighed by its competitors. The nail in the coffin was the PS2. And the PS Vita was suvierly outweighed by the 3DS when it came out, and it did not have enough exclusive titles from other systems. Yes, none of them were complete failures, but some still should have been on the list.
@@SilverStar555 .which*
not everything below 15 million hardware units is a failure, otherwise the list would have over 100 systems!
@@SilverStar555 oh plenty of other Nintendo systems sold less than Wii U. Game Boy Micro, Game Boy Light, Famicom Disk System, Nintendo 64 DD, Satellaview, Wii Mini, SNES II, NES II, 3DS XL, New 3DS, New 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo DSi XL- they all sold LESS than the Wii U did, so they're all failures by that definition then.
Record of Lodus War on Sega Dreamcast was my first and favorite RPG ever. The Dreamcast was awesome
I love the Dreamcast!!!
Still have my Dreamcast and it is still my favorite console almost 18 years later
The only bad thing I can say about the Dreamcast is it couldn't play DVDs like the ps2 other than that the Dreamcast was a pretty solid console the reason it failed was because the failure of the
sega saturn, and It was over hyped by the ps2 which was coming out a year later
Man was the Dreamcast a good console. I still play mine today.
Maybe nostalgia would bring the Dreamcast back Im a Sega fan & think that console was a masterpiece I'm curious about the Mr. potatoe head game too 😸
If you play a Vectrex, you will understand why it has a cult following. Loved that thing.
Hi nice video dude
I own an Ouya. Always had it in my head to make it into an emulator...but then i got high.
#9 I actually played that at tsubasa con and had a lot of fun with it even tho it was 8-bit
I live in Ireland and I never heard of most of the stuff on this countdown except the Sega Dreamcast. I don't remember the Apple, Pioneer, Philip CDI in UK and Ireland.
It's funny the guy who voices this had the number 1. 😂😂😂
I remember trying to get on the internet for the dreamcast it was Sooo slow and I had to buy a special mouse cursor
Snes fav but love the dreamcast, still own mine
*Sees dreamcast in thumbnail*, *cries*
THE VECTREX...
We had a console when I was really little and I couldn't remember what the hell it was called but no. Vectrex.
I had a Vectrex when I was a kid.
This is a weird list. You've gone with someof the very low selling units mixed in with some big ones that actually sold relatively well. The Gizmondo at number 2 only sold like 20-25,000 units and then the Dreamcast at number 1 sold 9 million. I don't get it? If we're going on big companies struggling to make the mark then surely PS Vita and Wii U should be in here? Sony and Nintendo are gaming giants yet those 2 consoles sold terribly compared to what each company hoped. The Atari Jaguar should certainly make this list in my opinion as it meets both points - reasonable expectations with abysmal sales.
Almost to a million
I just got a Sega Dreamcast yesterday!
4:45 is that a ripoff of a N64
nope lol
Game cube ripoff 😂
I like the Sega Dreamcast. I still play it nowadays. I have over 40+ games for it
Dreamcast was not a failure but underrated
This list just makes me glad I'm a lifetime PlayStation user.
I hardly ever see any fellow PlayStation fans lol
When he brought the part up about the wrecked Ferrari , he failed to mention that the Ferrari was literally split in half. Ferrari completely restored the car , making it like new painting it black.
I like how they called Gizmondo, Gizmodo.
The dream cast was the first console I ever played on and it also housed the first game I ever beat (at 5 yrs old): Sonic Adventure 2.
Wow I could’ve never beat anything at 5! I didn’t have games at 5 tho
I dont think I knew what I was doing at the time and got lucky
Pilipsh CDI.
**Mercedes diesel wants to know your location**
Super NES is hands down my favorite retro console. It's just one badassed game after another.
The sega dream cast was cool
Look at all these first comments...
Talha Khalil you are the first comment (at least right now)
**last**
Talka K I know right. Those guys are a bunch of retarded dumbasses who want attention.
I loved Dreamcast I played it all the time
vextrex were popular among my friends an I loved it
The dreamcast was revolutionary for the gaming market. It was the first console to have Online play. The only flop here is the controller. The plug is coming out of the bottom. And the design was very weird and uncomfortable.
I have a SEGA Saturn, it was my childhood console and i still love it
xXKASsNiPeSXx I still love my Sega Genesis as well as my old school Nintendo consoles (SNES, N64, NES)
Sega Saturn dude your childhood must have sucked because that console is the reason why SEGA cancelled and they missed out on silicon graphics, and Sony so they missed out on the PlayStation and the Nintendo 64 so if it weren’t for the Saturn SEGA would still be in the green. It was so bad that the person who made sonic stepped down 1 year after its release and after 1 year SEGA admit it was pitiful and then they released in 1999 the sega Dreamcast which was great but it sold bad thanks to the Saturn. And Microsoft offered sega to work with them in 2000 and they said no so they missed out and being allies with silicon graphics which made the n64, Sony which made the PlayStation and Microsoft which made the Xbox and then the ps2 had sold 152M copies and also had theDVD player which was the final nail in the coffin for sega
Lol I think I went a little overboard sorry dude I have a Dreamcast but I never got to experience a sega Saturn it sounds cool after all it did descover 32-bit before PlayStation. My favorite system has to be the n64 though
@@VincenttheGaminggod if you get to play a sega saturn, i reccommend playing Bug! Its still one of my favorite games to this day!
xXKASsNiPeSXx I download a Sega Saturn emulator and I played bug! and the other game called sonic R because I like sonic and not gonna lie the games were pretty fun. I underestimated the Saturn
......so ..... dreamcast is #1, despite the fact that the other consoles on this list sold a LOT less and some costing their companies more money?
It fail but yeah it doesn't deserve top 1
I got a Sega Dreamcast in Mint Condition with Sonic Adventure inside without a scratch at a thrift store for $5.
I THOUGHT THE SATURN WOULD BE HERE! I HATE IT SO MUCH!
The Dreamcast didn’t fail, Sega just quietly killed it
I had a game cube (good times)
I still have my SNES, N64, GENESIS. Sadly I lost all of my games of my PLAYSTATION 1
I don’t have it I want to get one or a Wii to play GameCube games to. I have a Wii U but it doesn’t play GameCube games :(. Unless you mod it I guess lol I don’t wanna do that
Brayden Durham sweet. What games did you have
THE DREAMCAST WAS NO FAILURE I LOVED THE GAMES SONIC ADVENTURE 1 AND 2 ARE AWESOMEEEEEE
The Sega Dreamcast was never considered a failure.
Grew up with the good old PS2
looking at this consoles virtual boy was a succes
I had a Dreamcast too. Tokyo Extreme and Power Stone all day hey hey hey
Do one about failed accessories
Xpex Sy *POWER GLOVE!*
Xpex Sy ahhhh sega and nintendo should lead this one great consoles but terrible terrible attachments and accesories
Philips CDi wasn't a failure. It was a birthplace of most of YTP memes.
My boy
Are you *Watch Mojo* in disguise? Why is the Dreamcast on here? The Saturn should be on here before it but even that Shouldn't have a place in a top 10 Failed consoles because there are plenty more out there, Atari Jaguar & 7800, Amiga Cd32, Amstrad GX4000 are just a few of them! People are making a living on youtube with complete garbage like this and it pisses me off!
Considering the Dreamcast outsold most of the entries in this list by ten-to-one, and hugely beat out everything you listed, I agree that it shouldn't have been here other than for the fact that it marked the end of Sega as a console maker (and admittedly, it did sell slightly fewer than the Saturn). The N-Gage, Intellivision, Atari Lynx, 32X and Mega CD are all more worthy of that last spot; the latter pairing helped start the distrust towards Sega that would help kill off both the Saturn and Dreamcast (that, and Sony being rather economical with the truth about how powerful its PS2 was).
The reason i would say the Saturn was more of a failure is simply based on the Saturn being released after the success of the Mega Drive, the Dreamcast was released after the failure of the Saturn and could almost be looked at as a success in some respects and probably would have been if PS2 was just a console and not a DVD player aswell!
lukas akerlund don't know where you've plucked those numbers from for the Saturn sales but I've never seen any data that says more than 11million were sold! Saying "between 11-20 million" and then having a guess at 15 million kinda says everything you need to about statement!
I have both Saturn and Dreamcast. The Saturn is actually a better console than the DC. Saturn has a lots of good japanese support, unlike the DC.
TK Wong
i think you mean the Saturn has a better games libary than the DC, its definitely not a better console! lol
Wow the intro
Just seems like a nintendo fan boy, the dream cast is still big in japan and still has independant developer's making games for it
all hail the vitrual boy
Ouya actually made the CEO tons of money especially after the sale to Razor, so it really wasnt a failed venture.
Virtual boy?
9:20
Could you call the Amiga 500/1200 a console? That takes me back to around 6 years old
I have a dreamcast and still play it one of the best systems ever
Dreamcast is life
I still have my Sega Dreamcast
I like how all the consoles on this list failed bc they were shit but the Dreamcast, which was good, failed bc of the PS2
RIP Dreamcast
Most underrated console of all time
You will be missed
the hyperscan and atari 5200 were failures too. i learn a lot from AVGN
Can you switch the Dreamcast for a Sega Saturn
Dreamcast was a great console and good gaming for the day!
*slowly raises middle finger*
My first console was the Wii U XD
Super🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒
Video Cd's (whatever that is) lol, you never heard of VCD?
I have the dreamcast and gizmondo!
My favorite console it's the Super Nintendo I had more fun playing donkey Kong country than any other game
I was born in the ps3 360 wii era but the first console I played on was a GameCube next was a ps2 then a Nes
