If I just relied on other youtube videos for C855k i would have bought it immediately. But this is the first unbiased review that I have seen. I'm having doubts now on mini LED. If only OLEDs don't have burn in issue, then it would have been an easy choice.
A very deep and clear review. Finally an unpaid video by TCL. You are the only one so far to show the real cons of this model Without twisting around. Thank you!.
That was a very detailed review of the tv. The colour accuracy issues relative to LED dimming is something no other reviewer has talked about about an was very interesting and has made me reconsider my purchasing options as I was thinking of getting the 98inch version of this tv to replace my calibrated JVC projector. I think I will still to the JVC for a while.
TCL C855 is the best value for money considering the features and specifications it offers, the negative points you pointed out are corrected through the settings and color calibration.
Suggestion for future reviews. Compare game mode side by side with other TVs. Not only with factory settings but also with high contrast and color saturation settings (most gamers look for this) set in game mode
Its great to see a reviewer being honest about the poor software on the tcl models. Love the image quality on my tcl 85c 805k but the software has multiple bugs (always boots with max brightness regardless of what setting is stored) and noticeable stutter when using the TVs built in apps to play 4k 24hz content inside the fixed 60fps Google TV software container.
Hello there. I already had some little issues here and there early days on mu c755 (805). Nothing major, but after several updates everything working fine now with v135 firmware (already updated manually to a newer v404 one)👍 if you're still having any problems, then try to full reset your TV to a factory settings, I know thats might sound a bit rough, but it really helps in many cases✌️
@@John-eg5cktry futzing w Judder slider under motion settings, and also black frame insertion. doing so will bring soap opera effect that some hate, pick your poison.
I have to say this is what i call a review to get real informations for tvs. Im not a fan of any of these tvs from the video but i will look forward to see more especially panasonic mini led and bravia 9, which is just best in my opinion, especially panasonic.
@10:24 is that visible and distinct dimming zones that can be seen in the clouds about the setting sun? Looks like that would be rather disappointing and distracting?
Very informative!! In Greece the tcl 65" c855 costs 1699 euros whereas QD oled Samsung 65" S90d for 1599 euros and Woled LG C4 65" for 1699 euros. Which one would you choose? Thanks...... sorry you answer this dilemma by the end of your comparison Thanks again!!
What about the software bugs of the TCL TVs? Has anyone here a TCL C855 or C845? Did you have any problems? What about that automatically forced switch from Dolby Vision to Dolby Vision IQ everytime you rewind the movie a little bit (it suddenly darkens the overall image, which is crap)? Or, did you have any other software problems with a TCL C855? Thank you, I hope you all enjoy the TV you have right now.
@@ChooseDotTV I really hope you guys will test local dimming on medium vs high, because it seem like medium is similar to high but higher brightness for highlights .
A great review indeed. I noticed that the TCL855 brochure available on TCL AU website lists AV1 & HEIF formats as supported. Additionally I tried to visit the website hyperlink mentioned in the description but it asks for login details which is strange.
During the starfield scene, could you confirm whether the local dimming settings for both the TCL and Samsung models are set to "High"? Additionally, if the local dimming on the TCL is reduced to "Medium," do you observe any improvement in brightness and detail in darker scenes?
I use my c755 (805) on medium local dimming setting, because it way less aggressive with dimming bright areas and lesser tone mapping as well, also it is brighter and looks much more natural overall. V135 firmware
To improve your future reviews have a section dedicated to white colours. Just as much talk should be given to white colours as is discussed about black colours. IMO not enough emphasis is made on purity and brightness of whites. My 2p. Keep up the great work.
Very informative review, great job. I've been interested in the c855 but I'm wondering did you review a 65" or 75"? And what do you feel would be the better option due to the aggressive local dimming algorithm? (would less or more dimming zones/brightness be more accurate going from bright to dark pictures, in your opinion)
Thanks to this I've just found out that there's a USB 3 port at the bottom of this TV. The other two ones are 2.0, so my 4k movies in my portable SSD stuttered so much that it's almost impossible to watch them. I couldn't get myself to understand why a TV that has HDMI 2.1 ports doesn't have any USB 3 ports...
@@ChooseDotTVI'd say it's not so poor as you might think. For example beautiful Sony 65xf900 (x9005f) loses even tcl c755 (805) in terms of viewing angels, which are pretty strong. So it's not so obvious 😉
The best review i saw for this TV, One thing I'm wondering is how the SDR brightness is so close to each other at 25%, 50% and 100%, is this thanks to a setting?
Thank you very much. Damn it, I just don´t know. TCL C855 with great blacks and contrast or Bravia 7 with slightly worse blacks (but still awesome blacks)? I guess it will come down to which one has better viewing angles and in which one the black cinemascope bars remain completely dark. I believe to remember that one reviewer said that the black bars remain inky black by the TCL C855. Does anyone know which one does a better job by black bars and viewing angles? Sony Bravia 7 or TCL C855? I will get 75 inches.
does the 75 inch use an ADS panel? less contrast would likely bring grayer blacks vs the other sizes w VA panel, comments fr those sizes might not apply to 75" w ADS
Seems like 835 model is an outdated now it does not produce anymore, it also had a lot of little drawbacks at its launch, not the best choice. C805(755) as a successor model nowadays which has newer and better processing capabilities and also better colors out of the box. But there is also a newer 765 model, which is better in tonal processing. 855 even better and brighter at a premium cost.
