He has such absolutely perfect pick hand/fret hand synchronization. Consistently flawless, whether he's shredding, mixing in legato phrases, jumping 2 or 3 strings at a time. Videos don't do the live experience justice though. If you're a guitarist, you owe it to yourself to see Buckethead play live. Even if you don't care for his style of music, seeing that level of mastery over the instrument displayed just a few feet away from the front of your face … man, it's surreal.
Buckethead also plays bass. Fantastically, about as good as he shreds on the guitar. He used to do bass solo's in his live shows but the gear was too much for him and P Sticks to haul so he dropped it from his show. Check out his bass solo videos...it'll blow your mind.
in music my theory is technical skills are important but not as much as striking an emotional core with your audience to do this you have to think like them and know the impact of your music on their emotional state tech skills give you more options so don't beat your self up you have something we all do 😊
I completly agree! Buckethead is not only a virtuous, but also a creative composer, good in many style and different musical fields. He is an experimental musician, as well. Moreover, he is an awesome and prolific builder of endless and complex legato. Any guitarists has never made so long chains of notes, like Buckethead. Often I heard his phrases to lenght without break beyond one or two minutes!!!
I’m my opinion he is probably the best to ever touch the instrument, the amount of raw talent this takes is incomprehensible to people who don’t play the guitar
It's so truly Magic to watch Big B live. This is what professional guitar playing should sound like. With the largest skillset of any player EVER. Buckethead is without a doubt the G.O.A.T.
This guy is so sick! He's probably the only guitarist who's shredding I actually find enjoyable(yes I know he's great at all genres). You don't quite get a sense of how tall he is, since his guitar is the size of a pool skimmer.
I've just recently discovered Buckethead. What an absolute virtuoso! He's so fun to watch! His notes are so clean and his shredding is magnificent to see and hear. He is astonishing! The bucket and mask add to his mystique.
Don`t care what anyone else here says about other guitarists being better than Buckethead, young Buckethead was practically untouchable. Even Yngwie didn`t have that precision and speed when he was younger....
Buckethead is the greatest guitarist to ever pick up the instrument! He knows his instrument and knows how to get everything possible out of it to produce the perfection wanted and needed to put these amazing songs out! You are watching an artist produce a masterpiece every time you watch him pick up his guitar! Thank you for putting this together for our listening and viewing pleasure!!
Bucket head almost speaks to me with the guitar, When i bump siege engine at the gym, it feeds me adrenaline!!! Bucket head is the greatest thank you to my friend Arne for showing me him! BUcket Head you are the Greatest!!!!!
As someone who does NOT play guitar (I'm a drummer) I STILL can say with the confidence of an esteemed guitarist... that he is the best player E.V.E.R. This guy is otherworldly. There's really not much more one can say. I could watch it with no volume and his fingers move so effortlessly around the fretboard it's simply elegant
Honestly though, he is not all about speed and being technical, those bends here n there add some emotive touch to his songwriting. He actually plays with feel too keeping all the kill switch, tapping n legato stuff aside
Buckethead has written some totally beautiful and emotional songs. 'Watching the Boats with My Dad' and 'Sparks in the Dark' are two of many. Anyone who says 'all he does is mindlessly shred' hasn't heard a 10th of what the guy can do
Buckethead is absolutely perfect at guitar! I notice it more as a guitarist myself. If be took off his mask and turned out to be an alien or a robot I wouldn't be all that surprised.
He’s the only one that can improvise a shred solo these days. People don’t hear the preparation. They’re so used to social media solos being clean cut that they forget how much more skill it takes to do this. Anyone can write a slippery solo and do 100 takes of it for a video. Only Buckethead is doing this.
I have no idea how he does that sweep tapping. It’s insane. I think there’s a reason no other guitar player has ever done it because he’s the only one that can
Interesting how he plays a Les Paul as his main go-to guitar. Its not known as "shredder's" guitar, and doesn't have a particularly fast neck or good balance. Yet here we are lol.
He has a nice way of making simple melodies happen on one string, two strings. A few notes even. He's not all speed. He's probably better when he's playing slower and controlled more than super scale connecting time, from a to b and b to a. He has some real soul with little.
Man thank you for finding all of this video people don't realize buckethead has been doing this since the what mid 80's m that as long as Matalica as been putting out albums but what is this guy at🤔🤔
I'm pretty sure this guy sold his soul to the devil in exchange for these skills. Epic like a Beethoven or Bach.. I have a feeling that he'll be talked about for a long time after his own. Which is strange to say because after all he is wearing a Kentucky fried Chicken bucket on his head..
i respect that he uses his pinky like a normal hand should... i've seen some guitarists opt to favour using their ring fingers over pinkies by choosing fingering that uses the pinky less, and by shifting their hand positions over to play the 'pinky notes' with their first fingers, thinking it's faster. moving your whole hand versus putting your pinky down? there's no way whole hand movements are ever going to be faster. this is really a bad habit to develop and bad form for a guitarist - it's also very counterintuitive. even django reinhardt would be shaking his head at these players.
Shawn Lane plays using his ring finger more than his pinky, and his playing is not only 10x more critical but so much more musical than BH. Basically he compensates for his skill with musicality. You can't compare the two. It's like chalk and cheese. I can't even begin to describe how much faster Shawn is, check him out and be dumb founded.
If he breaks a string the string repairs itself out of respect
I wish I could pin this cracked me up right there
@@lynntaylor5080 same here lol
I sure wish he wasn't Sick.

Check out Ewan Dobson. Can't compare the two. But his technique much like bucket heads is amazing. There's no wasted movement.
Saw him live on Halloween 2017 or 2018 I think. It blew my mind
he uses the same reductive patterns all the time. No style or originality. Dimebag had style and originality baby! see HIM live!
The other guy is paul gilbert
Dime a dozen n then there is Buckethead
I don't care what ANYONE says. Nobody can melt a guitar like Buckethead.
Shawn lane can
@@thebroker2191 But not with a KFC bucket on his head.
@@michaelrstover I drove 6 hours to see BH and even I can say Lane has em beat
@@thebroker2191 idk the jordan solo was kinda insane
@@towel2493 shawn lane is better than buckethead. shawn lane has taught buckethead a lot of the stuff he knows today.
The way his pinkie moves is dangerously beautiful.
His skill just blows me away, how can a human be this good?
Thats the thing, he isn't human
@@noathy9408 Much like Neil Peart, Layne Staley, and Robin Williams...he's an alien.
And he can't even see the shit that well. No inlays and a mask. Fuuuuck

Better than Hendrix 💯
If I could play the bass half as good as Buckethead shreds on guitar, I would go down as the best shredding bassist
Blasphemy. Les claypool is the bass version of Buckethead.

That's not sweat, that's WD-40!
14:00 is probably the most insane playing he ever did live. That "sweep tapping" lick is just unreal.
Would have won many “bet you can’t play this” challenges… if Buckethead actually cared enough to participate in such ostentations. 🐐
Jesus Christ
holy fuck
I've listened to this lock about 30 times in a row now

Not a big shred fan so I agree, Buckethead has soul behind it. I also enjoy Dimebags shredding
I highly recommend checking out Guthrie Govan, he also puts alot of soul into his shredding.
His right hand is so smooth! I can't get over it. Incredible playing. Nobody does it better.

I went to a Buckethead show once. We were stuck behind a staircase so view sucked but was still the best show I ever been to

He's on tour now, get a ticket!
The sound is incredible. Best live guitar recording ive heard. Clear, clean
Every now and then I love a good Buckethead comp 😌
I’m just totally blown away by this guys awesomeness
You can not convince me otherwise
This man has either played guitar since the minute he was born, or he is a terminator made to play guitar
Why does this dude get so much hate? Straight smasher

I think Buckethead has some of the best alternate picking/ fretting hand synchronization of any shredders out there.
Solo of the night of the slunk is freaking insanity !

The way Buckethead plays is unlike anything or anyone straight talent Fucking Awsome
So much expression... ah, how do you say it, in, uh, words??? 💣 💥 🗡
He is, and will always be one of the biggest influences into my guitar playing, alongside with Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield ofc.
Lot's of Metallica love I see. I actual want shred like this on the 4-string xD and mix with Cliff's style of playing it'd be gg if I can get there
Good taste my friend
Look deep into Randy Rhoads if you haven’t gotten around to it yet
Buckethead is the best, hands down!
my theory is that Buckethead is a chicken-alien hybrid sent from Bucketheadland to teach humans how to wail on guitar
A lot of these were my favorites already. You've got good taste bro!
