Stuff like this is why Dave Mustaine said in an interview when they asked him what he thought of the Slash/ Buckethead “feud”….”Buckethead is probably a better guitarist than both of us put together “! (and that comment from. dude who’s given about 2 compliments in his lifetime)
You obviously know your shit, Brother. After playing for over 3 decades, Brian and Slash are on my huge influence list. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't know there was any issues between them. I will say tho, both of them are like fingerprints. They couldn't possibly be much more different than one another. Kinda bummed because they're both incredible in their own ways
@@Samurai78420 I think it was just slash originally talking some shit because Bucket replaced him in GnR. But he seems to have come around, last interview i heard with him he was complimenting Buckethead on his solos on Chinese democracy which is fair. There are some damn tasty solos on that record. Originally he had said buckethead was “more of a shedder”… or something to that effect. Which is also fair but i think buckethead is one of those rare shredders who stays incredibly melodic and musical.
One of my favorite songs ever! He wrote this song for his Aunt that bought him his first guitar. She passed away and he wrote this for her. Wow what a memorial!!
Soothsayer, Aunt Suzie, and Sail on Soothsayer are all amazing tributes to his aunt and incriedible songs. The fact that every live version of Soothsayer is different and still amazing every time blows my mind. Long live the G.O.A.T!
And yet.....and yet the Bucket didn't make Rolling Stones 250 greatest guitarist list. Let that sink in for a minute. Wouldn't wipe my a$$ with that rag.
Great video. Buckethead fans should be sure to listen to Shawn Lane if you haven’t before. He was probably the biggest influence on Buckethead’s sound.
Your crazy. Think higher. Much higher. If Jason Richardson is the 2nd all time best guitarist in the world. Brian is a legend far beyond what any legend could ever be. Especially they way his music comes from the soul/heart.
@@tamastoth6318 not really I just filled more into it. Brian isn't just a wizard lol. A wizard can be beat. He can't which means he's far better than a wizard will ever be even for his age. Still amazing.
Wow epic rendition, don't think I have heard so many variations in any other performance. This just confirms that, along with blazing scale runs and shredding, he is a master improviser, and that is a large part of what makes listening to his playing so enjoyable, rarely ever the same thing twice. He actually messes up around the 7:54 mark and is completely off scale, I think he was just simply a fret too low from where he wanted to be. He recovers quick and, among that insane barrage of notes, most likely very few even noticed - A lot easier to cover up a goof on electric than acoustic in any case.
Gives me chills every time I hear this song. I wish we can see the emotion on his face while he plays. His family is so lucky to get to share that with him. But just once I wish he'd take the mask off and im there to see it just once !
History says he'll take it off one day, sooner or later. Look at KISS all of a sudden in the height of their fame..... whoosh, butt naked faces. The Gorillaz finally showed themselves on a talk show or something like that late night I do believe as well. Patience young grasshopper san
I got lots of pple listening to his stuff. Like me they love his stuff. I got a 🎸 similar than his but not the same. One day I hope I can find 1 and have him sign it. It would be priceless to me to the end of time. He's allways going to be my favorite artist, love Jamin to his stuff.
I mean, what is there left to say about the man? If anything, he's getting better as he goes! And I know it's hard to say for the obvious reasons but my sense is that he was really enjoying this, completely in the zone! Greatest there's ever been IMHO. Good health, peace and love to you, Big B!
Soothsayer is my fave too but gory head stump & trinas lament, great also and many others. You should all try Revenge of the double man, I love working to that 1. Check it out
I often wonder how much Buckethead improvises on stage. This was outstanding as usual but fairly different from other live versions as well as from the studio version. I wish, wish, wish he would publish a live show recorded from the soundboard. The boomy bass and the treble cutting in and out in this recording were a bummer.
500!!! Not saying I don't believe you, he's had a long career in music, he makes it by himself which allows him to make an album much faster than a band with 3-5+ members in it. Not to mention the raw and technical talent he possess... But I'm gonna have to fact✔️ that 500
this is my favorite live version by far. he added a ton of cool licks and motifs to this one holy shit
I completely Agree

What about Hold Me Forever? Do you know who is that for
His mom.
que bela homenagem !!!!
Seeing Buckethead live someday is most definitely on my bucket list! ❤🐔 ❤
Nice👍🏻mine too
God that bend at 3:59 is heavenly. His phrasing this entire performance of Soothsayer is my favorite yet. Thanks so much for uploading this.
4:06-4:16 SIMPLY amazing!!! I Part of my soul would be lost without Bucket!
Glad im not the only one who feels that way, this part is so unique and nostalgic sounding
Absolutely!! That was just beautiful wasn't it!!
I've been listening to other guitarists, but Buckethead simply stands alone. No one, gets close to this...entity.
After all these decades he still has such smooth skin.. He must use an amazing moisturizer
He's wearing mask
@@BosGaurus05 Is he?? I didnt notice that like 30 years ago,, lol

Buckethead, Terry Kath, Glen Campbell, Roy Clark, AL Demeola, Leo Kotke, and a bunch of others across all disciplines.
That’s absolute shit. He should be too 5 easy
@stevecraig6350 Allan Holdsworth being the cream of the crop. Shawn Lane even says so!
@@MrFritz6940 Buckethead is on another level. Holdsworth can play, but his music is boring. Just my opinion.
Screw there “list”, Buckethead is always overlooked because of his look and lack of exposure, he’s a beast and at the top of my list
Outstanding!!! This dude put his life into his work and you can't miss it!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Guy is a legend. Best of the best in terms of guitar prodigy. Easily in the top 10 of all time rock guitarists.
Fact
Soothsayer was my first song I've heard from Buckethead, since than, I've been hooked. From #1 Fan Guelph,Ontario Canada
Man, his picking speed is so clean... he's a killer player...
It’s like he’s getting better. Insane version and I’ve heard most of the live versions. Incredible, elite playing.
Totally agree!
considering he doesn't travel to perform, huge thanks to you for showing this to the world! we need this
He’s been to my state before
Pretty decent sized tour rn hope he's coming near you

I’ve never heard the Chicken king play a bad version of this song but this one is exceptional. Thanks for sharing.
