CAN YOU MAKE MONEY SEALCOATING DRIVEWAYS?
Yes, it is possible to make money sealcoating driveways as a business venture. Sealcoating driveways involves applying a protective layer of asphalt-based coating to the surface, which helps to enhance its appearance and extend its lifespan by protecting it from damage caused by water, sunlight, and chemicals.
Here are some factors to consider for making money through sealcoating driveways:
Demand: There is generally a steady demand for driveway sealcoating, especially in suburban and rural areas where homeowners prioritize maintaining their properties.
Profit Margin: Sealcoating can offer a good profit margin because the materials required are relatively inexpensive compared to the service charges.
Seasonality: Sealcoating is typically a seasonal business, as it is best done during warmer months when temperatures are above 50°F (10°C) and rain is not expected for at least 24 hours after application.
Equipment and Costs: You'll need initial investment in equipment such as a sealcoating machine, brushes, and possibly a truck or trailer to transport equipment. Costs also include materials like sealant, which can vary based on quality and coverage.
Marketing and Customer Base: Building a customer base through effective marketing, referrals, and establishing a reputation for quality workmanship is crucial. Offering additional services like crack repair or line striping can also increase revenue.
Skills and Training: Proper application techniques are essential for quality results and customer satisfaction. Training or experience in sealcoating methods is beneficial.
Legal and Environmental Considerations: Ensure compliance with local regulations regarding business permits, environmental impact, and disposal of materials.
While sealcoating driveways can be profitable, success depends on factors like local competition, pricing strategy, customer service, and the ability to manage seasonal variations in demand. With careful planning and execution, it can be a viable business opportunity.
The product we are using is: Asphalt Emulsion
    What is an asphalt emulsion?
Asphalt emulsion is a combination of three basic ingredients; asphalt, water, and small amount of an emulsifying agent.
    Why use asphalt emulsions?
Asphalt emulsion does not require a petroleum solvent to make it liquid and in most cases asphalt emulsions can be used without additional heat. Both of these factors contribute to energy savings. Additionally, asphalt emulsions offer great flexibility in their application since they offer the end-user a great variety of characteristics not found in other paving and maintenance materials. Asphalt emulsions are environmentally friendly. There are little or no hydrocarbon emissions created with their use.

What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
    1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
    2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
    3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
    4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
    5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
    6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
    7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

What kind of coverage do you get? I’m just starting out in sealing and I also use asphalt emulsion. We have sprayed a few driveways and brushed one driveway because they had an exposed aggregate border and it was a windy day. What sort of coverage per gallon do you usually get? Thanks, great channel!!
