On a crisp Autumn day in October, I sealed this amazing property by myself. It took me a little over 3 hours to complete this job (including moving and setting up the cameras). This was new, unsealed asphalt so it took a lot of material. This job presented some challenges including; having to use a paint brush in certain areas, having to cut-in around the central drain, lots of falling leaves and me just being generally exhausted from a long and busy season.
I really took my time and tried to show every facet of this project. I was really happy with the way that everything turned out. No music on this one, just the sounds of a suburban Sunday.
Let me know what you think...... AND AS ALWAYS, the real experts will be in the comments ⬇️
What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

You should visit these places in a weeks time to show how they look after being driven on.. a little ageing on the sealcoat that has been done so cleanly would be lovely to see
Next year we’ll probably be doing some driveways from the first season, hopefully.
You pay attention to details on the corners😍😍😍
Thanks for noticing!
Those damn leaves!!! We just finished up for the season!until next year!
Enjoy your time off. We've earned a little break. 🍻
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE yes for sure! You too man 👍🏻
Your attention to detail is wonderous. God speed, fellow earthling.
Thanks
Your attention to detail and superb situational awareness with regard to boot placement throughout is outstanding! A real pleasure to watch you work. Subscribed!
Thank you very much. This was definitely the most challenging job I've done for this channel. Im glad that comes through.
At the 38:45 mark. End of the driveway, camera angle looking back into the property, the sun through the trees and the shadows si picturesque. Took a screenshot of it. It was so lovely couldn't resist😊.
Also like the serenity one must have living there. You could hear the birds. Absolutely lovely.
This place was incredible. AND, its even better when the owner is a great person. Thanks for watching.
Who needs that calm app when you've got this.
I gotta hurry up & get me a driveway so I can fly him out my way and offer him some lemonade🍋
Done ✅
I liked the video transition effect, well done! 😊👍
Thanks
Sir much respect to you and the pride of your trade, you must pass down this proper way of workmanship and pride to others and think about franchising your company and keeping this great thing of yours going for the coming future.. this new generation has missed the meaning of hard work and pride of your trade and what work means in general. Again much respect sir.
We’re working on that. Thanks for the support 👍.
Thank YOU for cleaning off the white pipe Good Sir!
You are very welcome Callie
Your attention to detail is outstanding. I only wish there was a business like your in my area.
Thanks
the background sounds made this video like a suspense movie. I had to open Spotify to relax :) great work!
Wow. That’s pretty cool. No one has ever said that before. I hope you enjoyed the video.

Very amazing and interesting video
Great video and great job
Thanks. This might be my favorite one.
Single handedly knocked it put the park , nice job bud 👍
Thanks. That one was pretty brutal. 4 hours or sealing and it was like sand paper.
Introduced my husband to your channel. Great job!
Awesome. Thank you!
Great job.
thanks
Very good work👍👍👍👍🏿
Thank you 🙏🏾
Love ur work keep going 💜😅
Thank you
Absolutely amazing video presentation ❤❤..like this..
You got it man. That's how it should be Doon. Great JOB!
I appreciate that! This one was definitely a challenge. Sometimes its harder to film them, then it is to seal them.
Done a good and tidy job .
Thanks Andrew. This was definitely the most challenging job to seal and film at the same time.
That was such a rough, uneven paving job, jagged edges, rough surface… I’m sure this job was a nightmare. Your result was fantastic!
Yes it was. This was probably my most difficult seal.
well done. thumps up.
thank you
Amazing content
If sealcoating doesn't work out, you could always specialize in weed-whacking. You're pretty good with that thing! 😉
Que buen trabajo 👌
Muchas gracias amigo
Best Video
Love this video my goodness you are very talented # blessed
Thank you, Marina
Soo mesmerising ... hard to believe watching someone apply sealant can be so theraputic :) Thanks for the long vid too... must have taken some work editing but the viewers (including myself) will love you for it :)
Thank you. Yes it did. This took well over 10 hours to put together.
😳 I didn´t know, that Sealcoating is such a “slow affair” 😳
But the result is beatiful !
Thanks for watching Mary. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Good exercise I need to be out there with you💜💜💜💜💜💜
EU ADORO VER SEUS VÍDEOS!!!
FICO ENCANTADA E ADORARIA FAZER ISSO, TAMBÉM!!!
É UMA TERAPIA... 👍🏻😉
Hi - a few questions for you. How did you get started in sealcoating? Did you learn how to do it strictly on the job, or did you practice your technique somewhere else before you started doing actual jobs? What part of the work do you like doing the most (besides being finished 😄), and is there a particular aspect you don't like doing? Finally, I know others have complained about the type of music you use on some of the videos, but I personally think it really suits the pace of what you're doing. I'm looking forward to more videos in the spring. 😊
I started when my "then" boss could find my friend/his employee on a weekend morning, then he asked me to take his place (2004-2005).
I learned everything on the job. I started out just caring buckets of sealer from the truck to the driveway.
My favorite part is the prep. Cleaning up a dirty driveway and getting it ready to be sealed is what I enjoy the most.
Winding the hose up when its all the way out is the worst part me me. Doing that all day when its really hot out always takes it out of me.
Next season I hope to be making a lot of my own music for these videos.
Nice
I'm just watching now mate good work ....wish I had job like this not just in a factory
Thank you. It can be the best job sometimes. It’s all weather permitting so we have good months and bad months.

Therapeutic , don’t know why , but therapeutic 👍
Thanks for watching Terry
Very surprised you guys don't edge your edges then just fly with the squeegee, non the less, great work.
Hello from Russia ✌️ It turned out very cool!
Thanks
Good 👍💥
My queen
I'm jelly I miss sealcoating
I got you covered
Looks like this was a one man job this time around..lol. I appreciated the small details on what you did especially when you were cutting around that white pipe. You even took the time to ensure that the seal wasn't on the pipe and small foundation wall ( i think that a small part of the foundation).
Thanks 👍. This probably should have been a two man job 😆. I got it done though, and I couldn't be happier with the results.
Love watching you do this. I even got my daughter hooked watching them. Hahaha.
Question for you. I have a paved lot that was done years ago by the previous property owner. Not smooth like this but more small rock. Maybe old school tar & gravel? Would this be the same process for what I have? I’m in SC and mostly what I see is lots being sprayed.
Thanks

@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE thanks will do.
I just stumbled on these videos. I always find these types of videos satisfying. I do have one question. Why do you use a push style method? Have you tried squeegees that you pull? I use to seal driveways for years, and for me at least, the squeegees that pull is smooth. You don't have to go back over it for boot marks, because you're always behind it. I do love that trickle method doing it so so you don't always have to keep moving the hose around.
Ive never used a squeegee before, but I think brushing the sealer into the asphalt from a few different direction is the best way to work it in. Just my opinion. Also, I couldn't imagine walking backwards all day.
Him at 8:55 in his own world, living his best life.
Him at 9:02 THUNK - "hey who put that pipe in the way", probably.
😂
Man that floor is going to be hot in the summer
Great Job on the videos.
Keep them coming.
What brand of seal coating do you recommend for the DIYer?
Thanks un advance
Thank you. I’d recommend anything water based. Mix it with an electric mixer before using it. Start at sunrise and buy more sealer than you need. You can always return the unopened buckets. You DO NOT want to run out.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE Thank you
Nice job. How come none of the driveways you seal have any cracks, holes, or gaps to fill? Do you do a site survey before every job and pick which ones to do?
Next year we'll show the sh!t bombs too. I usually only film on Sundays so I save the driveways that will look best on camera for those days. I wish they all looked like these 😂.
Hello from Florida USA!! Beautifully done!! How long does the sealcoat take to cure?
Thanks. 24 hours to walk, 48 hours to drive.
Muito bom MESMO 😊👍👌🇧🇷
Gracias, Maria
Posted - Keep Out!!
Great video. It was my evening’s relaxing entertainment. Of course, I noticed all the keep out signs, beware of dog, etc. I am a bit cynical when I see those warnings. I am so fortunate to have a couple hundred acres in Western Pennsylvania. This is the time of year when the hunters from the urban areas converge on us in my area. Many (not most) of them could give a rat’s rump if your property is posted or not. Every year I encounter a “Rick from Pittsburgh” sitting in one of our deer stands. “Rick” always pleads ignorant until I show him photos of his truck parked 5 feet from a posted sign. I then show him - or volunteer to show him - photos of all the posted signs he walked past on the way to “his” deer stand. I often wonder if “Rick” is one of the guys who has his property near the city posted similarly to this person.
Anyway, GREAT VIDEO. AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THE RANT. 😏😏
DON'T BE A RICK !!!
Sorry, Rick.
Sorry, Rick.
Sorry, Rick.
Sorry, Rick.
Very important
19:00 I hate when that happens!
19:00 Ohhhh))
That was amazing! You are an extremely skilled individual. Such precision! Watching you work was damn sexy!! A couple questions...From start to finish, how many hours did that take you to complete? And, curious as to how much that particular job cost the client? Worth every penny. You're amazing and talented and it's obvious you have an excellent work ethic. Proud of you.
oh man. I think I was there for almost 4 hours, something like that. This driveway had never been sealed before so it took a ton of material. I couldn't be more pleased with the result though.
Little more work than I originally realized. Still looks real good though. 👍
Yeah, this one took a while.
What type of mix do u use its very good
It’s all about the sand. 500 pounds in a full tank.
Is that sealant a textile almost reminds me of a undercoat I used for military vehicles.
It's called "ASPHALT EMULSION".
I feel like I haven’t seen one job you guys have done with cracks. You guys using hot or like truflex cold applied ? Jw
Both. I film some crack patches this season. We’ve been subbing out hot tar and our bigger commercial lots.
Good stuff but how is the sealer not dry on you by the time your done cutting all that in ? Must be super early in the morn
Yup. This was first thing in the morning. For these bigger jobs that I film, I have them scheduled for 7-8am start times.
