- Here we have a good sized driveway with a wrap-around on a beautiful rural property in Pennsylvania. Im back sealing with Andru today. Leaves at this time of the year can be a problem but we keep the hand blower with us as we go. Ive been getting a lot of feed back that you want more videos without music. So here it is. What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

I used to work for a guy that sealed driveway back in high school. Can’t remember what sealer we used, but we used to mix it with sand/water and then broom around sidewalks and close to the house and spray on the open areas. I kinda miss doing it sometimes, it’s definitely an art.

I love watching your videos, as others say, they are very mesmerizing. But this one had a plot twist. 😂 Y'all do such a great job of prepping and cleaning and I have not seen you have to deal with falling leaves before. When they started blowing into your work here I was startled. I began to wonder....Could our heros carry on? 😯 I was screaming at the screen like a monster was sneaking up....Watch out! Behind you! L.E.A.V.E.S! 😩 Then with a quick swift broom you vanquished them and saved the day. It was hair raising for a minute. 😀🙄😔

No. There’s 500 pounds of sand mixed into the sealer. It adds a lot of traction.

Satisfying video. I like the truck set up. To the point and ready for war with an ugly driveway haha. Ive been painting for 32 years and I can say you would be a good cut in guy. What do you do to keep your squeegee brushes clean from gumming up? Do they wash with just water or do you clean them at end of day? Thanks for the upload and keep em coming!
They just sit in a brush box with water.
I was using a horrible broom until I see you guys. I also Seal Coat. I went to my sealer store and bought the same brushes. They are awesome thanks guys save me a lot of back trouble.😂👍🏻👍🏻 and another question what town do you guys at Seal Coat at?

I know it probably varies wildly depending on climate, geography, substrate, etc, but about how long might you typically expect a seal coat like this to last before needing another coat?

What do you do in the winter? I left corporate life and started sealcoating on my own and absolutely love it. Being in MA we only have until november

Put some slippers down at the end of the driveway. You can step out of your shoes and directly into the slippers instead of your socks before making the last pass like a BOSS.

I would also like to add that no house on the market is “show-ready” without a sealed driveway! It’s one of the first things buyers see and reflects how an owner takes care of their house and property. You need to leave your business cards with realtors in your area so sellers will use you!

Put the two side by side on a postcard sized mailer with Seal the Deal under it and your business name and #. I should have been in marketing. I love helping small businesses. Good luck 👍🏻

Very good. I am just curious - wouldn’t a backpack blower be easier/better than the wheeled blower? You are wrestling that thing like it’s the WWF. I have a Stihl with electric start and it is an amazing piece of equipment.

Hey hoss I'm curious how long does your gopro battery last,? Do you have to take multiple batteries with you for one job?
Ha. Great question. I have 4 batteries with me and a double battery charger. It all depends on what GOPro settings I’m using. Standard can last for around 3 hours. Head-cam with stabilization can last for 45 minutes.

The one that did mine said it had to be real hot. He did mine in August (I think around 92*) He couldn't spray cause I have a 6' white fence 526'. I have a track out back that he could spray most of it. I have noticed my driveway suffers when I use my snowblower. I did it after 5 years but it has only been 3 & needs redone again. Do you have a solution to that or just resurface 3 years not 5 years. I live in Michigan. The last two winters have been a pain with rain then snow. The blower don't want to blow the very wet snow. I think I might have answered my own question.
Its not permanent. It needs to be re-applied as needed.
So does this dry brown or black? I know nothing about seal coats. Are there different colors?
