The Last Waltz | Sealcoating in Fall

- Here we have the last job of our 2022 season. And as I said in this video, I believe this is the finest work we've ever done. The beautiful property is located in southeastern Pennsylvania. We sealed it at the end of October and the colors of the landscape are nothing short of spectacular. This job took us around 3 hours to complete with our two man crew and was just about as good as it gets. The homeowner was a really great guy for letting us come out and film his home. Thanks to everyone for watching and let me know in the comments what you think.

The product we are using is: Asphalt Emulsion
What is an asphalt emulsion?
Asphalt emulsion is a combination of three basic ingredients; asphalt, water, and small amount of an emulsifying agent.
Why use asphalt emulsions?
Asphalt emulsion does not require a petroleum solvent to make it liquid and in most cases asphalt emulsions can be used without additional heat. Both of these factors contribute to energy savings. Additionally, asphalt emulsions offer great flexibility in their application since they offer the end-user a great variety of characteristics not found in other paving and maintenance materials. Asphalt emulsions are environmentally friendly. There are little or no hydrocarbon emissions created with their use.

What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

Omg from 81k subscribers to over 200k within 3months… daaammm I am impressed..🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yup. I made that one RUclips SHORT that got 50,000,000 views in the time frame. It's been a wild ride.
In case you were curious, seal coating is when you place a coat over a baby seal so he can just chill in the shade.
Finally, somebody gets it!
That sounds awesome 😂
Yooooo, the seals are back!
🦭
Beautiful, it's like a well choreographed dance. So soothing.
Fine and smooth looking.
Thank you kindly
Hello, I watch this video with my son, he asked me if you put chocolate on the road? 😂 Grtz from Holland ( Europe)
It looks like chocolate 🍫. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful work, as always. 😊
Thanks Kimberly 🎉
Lol I blow the leafs out of the trees when I’m doing my fall clean up! Nothing worse than a super clean lawn with a dozen new leafs laying on it! Great video!!
You know the game 😎

Great video as usual!
Thank you 😊
Officially subbed man 🔥
Welcome to the family 👍
I did this on a factory car park and they were very impressed.
Extremely simple and cheap! You only need some decent PPE! It's not like you need any kind of training or even half a brain 😂
Do you have a video of that?
Bruh I’d just be moving in a circle trying to cover up my foot prints 😭
😂
Same 😂
Boa tarde 🥰🤗💯💯💯🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
😊
From newzealand lookes magic my man is it a hot or cold product ,anyway top workmanship
It’s room temp.
Yessir another awesome video! Is that spout that the sealer comes out of a sprayer connection? Or is it specifically made to flow out like it does in your vids?
You can screw a spray tip into the end of the wand.
After you finished, I realized the vehicles in the center are gonna tough to get to till it’s dry! Lol
Definitely have to walk around the entire driveway.
Love the vids!! Been a month though
New season starts next week.
Love it! just felt inspired and did my mums and her neighbors driveways. Where can you get the brushes? also why do you prefer to brush over spraying? would you not save time and sealer by spraying it on?
They took away all the links, here. Everything is on our instagram, though.
Your videos are so satisfying 😌
Btw who is the second guy with you and is he your work partner from?
He’s my partner, Jay. He’s the best sealer in Pennsylvania. Thanks for watching! ✌️
👌🏻
👋
Since it took 3 hours, on the longer ones like this do you ever stop and take a break/rest during a longer job? Love these videos even though we have almost no asphalt driveways here haha!
I'd say on driveways that take 4+ hours, we would take a 10 minute break or so. But if its not too hot outside we can usually just work straight through.
Do I have to change the squeegee everytime I do another driveway? Also can I just do a driveway right after I apply crack filler or do I need to let it sit for at least 2-3 days? Thank you! Also you earned my sub for being the one youtuber who actually responds lol!
Our brushes go right into the brush box (it’s filled with 6 inches of water) after each job. We use each brush for around 2-3 weeks before changing them. It all depends on what kind of crack filler you are using.
Very nice!! What do you do to try and avoid boot prints would drive me crazy lol
We don’t avoid them. We remove every single one as we make our way down the driveway.
great work, what kind of squeegee you guys use when sealcoating?
4 foot brushes. Send me an email.
Do you have any recommendations with a type of brand for starting out with 5 gallon buckets.
Love it! Question, how to you store the sealant between jobs? Do you just leave it in the tank if you’re going on vacation / without work for a week?
Yes. It just needs to be agitated every so often (once per week). The sand can settle on the bottom and the agitator bars can get stuck.
Another awesome job! How many gallons of sealer would you estimate it took to complete this job?
I didn't measure for this one. Maybe 75-100?
Have you guys thought about a spray system for big driveway like this? Or the old school way (squeegee)
Why don't you spray? #shorts
ruclips.net/user/shorts_21hq7Gikew?feature=share
What type of seal do you guys use? love the vid!!
That was AE.
Looks class! Do you have to clean your sprayer and hose between jobs to stop asphalt curing in the equipment?
No. We only have to put our brushes into the brush box. It has about 6 inches of water to keep them from drying out.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE Ah nice. Handy you don't have to clean out the hose between each job.
That would be terrible 😂
Try and save some video material for the autumn and winter 2023, just an idea 😉
will do 👍
What is the seal made of? Does it smell? Love the vids! New subscriber here! ❤
Thanks for subbing. Check the video description for more info.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFEawesome stuff! Very informative. Thanks!
Hi man just found out you In Philadelphia. I’m in the north section I started a landscaping business a couple months ago and I have been doing okay. I’m looking for something not seasonal would you say this is seasonal or people get sealing all year around. And in you’re course do you go over all types of drives ways to seal coat over like concrete asphalt ETC. thank you love the videos man
Send me an email. Here in PA, this is a 6 month season. May 1- Nov 1 (usually).
its a 6 month season
Do you have to apply a lot of pressure to the brush or does it just seem like?
For new asphalt, yes. For a driveway that’s been sealed before, not really.
Been trying to get into this and can’t find it anywhere what kind of liquid seal is being used. I’ve got everything else just can’t figure out the material
Check the video description
Are you crack filling as well? And how do you go about patching?
Professional Driveway Sealcoating #45 "Leaves, leaves, leaves."
ruclips.net/video/7naCC-30rxk/видео.html
I do some patching in this video
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE Nice, a saw and a hot box would be worth the money. Ma-10 crackfiller for hot rubber is relatively inexpensive and last longer. Keep on keepin on
You need to have a drone. It will be much better and wonderful if we can see the finished product from above...
Professional Driveway Sealcoating #26 "Easter Sunday EP"
ruclips.net/video/vZ5X3u22TSE/видео.html
How often should this be done, if you live in a place that has winter for 6 months out of the year and hot for the rest?
3 years.
What do you guys do in the winter for work?
Odd jobs here and there. Im still trying to put out RUclips videos every week, too.
How much does it cost by the square footage?
Around .25
Is this a business that one guy could do as a side hustle , or do you need helpers ?
Also, what is the cost of entry ?
Absolutely this could be a side hustle. Id say it's better to start off as a side hustle until you can build your client base. It's a great way to earn extra income. The cost is tricky, it all depends on how much you want to spend.
How you average on a yearly basis? How do you go about getting new customers.
Mostly by referrals at this point
One more question is should I put one or 2 layers of this if there is cracks in driveway and I filled them
Some people put down 2. For residential we only do 1.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE even for a driveway that had many cracks?
Yes. If it’s too cracked, I usually won’t seal it.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE one last thing sorry for the bother. If I seal a driveway which is cracked, if I do one layer you can see the crack filler. Would 2 layers help? That’s what I’m essentially asking
You could do 3 coats. You’re always going to see the cracks.
Are you guys using brooms or squeegees?
4 foot brushes
Is this something you can do on while on jawns? Asking for a friend.
😂
Did you guys already start your 2023 season
No. This is the last job from last year.
How much business do you get from “drive buys” ?
A pretty good amount. Lawn signs go a loooong way.
Can you do concrete driveways or just asphalt driveways????
Just asphalt with this product and process.
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE do you have info for concrete
To settle the debate, what’s the diff between a brush and squeegee. Pros and cons
The debate will never be settled
Yup, that will never be settled. Maybe all try and make a video about that for this upcoming season.
Чем это асфальт мажут?
New to the channel! Does the sealant dry black? And how do you get rid of the footprints?
Yes, it dries black. Watch closely @13:50 to see him remove the footprints 👣.
you can see dry driveway here: ruclips.net/video/ukgCB6x-Zq0/видео.html
They show you in the video how they remove foot prints
Do you get a lot of business from people that watch your RUclips videos?
Not really.
Hello, how can I contact you?
Sealcoatingislife@gmail.com
You may have already answered this but why wouldn't you want to use a squeegee
ruclips.net/user/shortsK83Ztib30tQ?feature=share
How much do you make from RUclips?
Not enough
Does this ruin the ability to recycle the asphalt?
No
